I don't understand this new trend of B&O to keep older products without any significant update (or even discontinuing them), while launching new products with new features: look at the BeoVision 5 replaced by BV9, when a simple update would have been fine, same with BV11 replacing BV10 (couldn't they simpy have made a MK 2??).
Now with the BM5/BS5, and even BS5Encore, it is almost becoming hilarious, since a Playmaker costing 4 to 10 times less than these BS5 units will provide you all that consumers are expecting from B&O: gapless playback , Apple Lossless playback, Airplay, 2-way remote control on your phone or Idevice, radio metadata with artist + track names, etc...In a Mac settup like mine, Playmaker also acts as another link room unit, giving total sync. with the Masterlink network, something not even possible with B&O's Netlink converter..
Guess what? I bought a Playmaker! I know, it is not oversexy, but it is completely hidden since my Ipad is the 2-way remote control & only interface I need to see, and I can even browse the internet while listening to music on that same interface..Clearly, B&O still has to learn to move faster with technology.
I have been wondering about the PlayMaker - what it can do or not do. It sounds real interesting that you can have two way communication between your iPad etc including the radiostations. I never heard about this before. What app are you using for this?
"PlayMaker - what it can do...."
As for the AirPlay-part of it - just pick any app that can do AirPlay (or your MAC/PC with Airfoil).
You might also connect a turntable, a Sonos-thing, a DAB-radio, a cd-player.... to the line-in of it.
My PlayMaker is connected to my AudioMaster (A-Aux) - this way I can distribute any 'Playmaker-source' to any ML-room.
Best of two worlds....
