I will do. We bought the TV yesterday. I won't be actually working on it until mid October.

Hi,
I helped a friend with a panel upgrade yesterday.
We replaced the Pana panel with a Samsung 43" Q60A.
It was a perfect fit.
We drilled a series of holes in the speaker cover where the IR receiver is placed (Samsung logo).
We could protect the fret while drilling by pushing in a metal plate through the speaker opening creating a barrier between the drill and the fret.
Only 0.5 is cropped by the aluminium frame.

Oh wow, sounds like a success then. I did a lot of measuring and thought it would be a good fit. I'm back from my holidays and will be doing the upgrade in the next week or two.

I´m still looking for a good 42" replacement TV but it is hard to find. Interesting with a 43" thou!! Much easier to find!But "only 0.5 is cropped...." Is it 0.5cm or 0.5 inch?

Only approx. 0.5 cm is cropped.
Reason: The Samsung measures 108 cm i.e. actually only 42.5" but it is sold as 43".
The visible diagonal og the BV measures 106.5 cm i.e 42".
I 3D printed custom feet for the Samsung Q60A. They slide into the original mounting mechanism in the TV and are screwed into the MDF BV5 cabinet ensuring correct height. Two 3D printed brackets are supporting the TV at the top.
Button line: I recommend to look for a 108 cm TV.
NOTE: the TV should not exceed 5cm in depth. See the photos in this post. One of the circuit boards is the reason for this limitation.

1. Before you start. Enter the BV5 setup menu.
Set the connections. I set them like this:
AV: DVD
V.TAPE: V.MEM
DECODER: SAT
Check STAND and SPEAKER settings.
You might not be able to access this menu again without reconnecting the org. panel
2. Replace the panel. The new TV should be less than 5 cm. thick. One circuit board is defining this limitation. 42 inch TV's will fit. 108 cm TV's will also fit. These are 42.5 inches but are often sold as 43 inch TV's.
3. If you want full Beo4 control then read how a Lintonic TT455-RT-238 can be integrated on the previous pages. Otherwise you'll have to use two remotes and modify the speaker cover to allow remote control of the new TV. Be careful .... Protect the fret while modifying the cover.
