I have tried to find the answers to this but struggling to find anything.

I have a a beosystem 2 controlling a beovison 4-42 TV. I want to be able to use my beo 4 remote to control a Sony DVD player (RMT-D187P). I cannot find anything in the connections list that is remotely similar to this. I understand that this list can be updated to include new products but I cant find any info on how to do this.

Can somebody please explain how this is done. I am competent with electronics and I'm not afraid of having take stuff apart. Just really don't want to have to get a technician out as the equipment is all on a boat that is constantly on the move and it all becomes logistically difficult.

Any help much appreciated.

Are there any Sony DVD players on the list? Sony is unusual in often keeping many of the same codes. If not, you will need a new software chip or the software update program which only a dealer has easy access to.

The BeoSystem 2 is just a modified "Avant Chassis" for plasma displays.
Those days B&O had their own DVD1 and later the DVD2 - that's why you can't
find DVDs from other manufactrurers on any of these old PUC/STB-TABLES.

PS:
Updating this chassis can't be made using the service tool to update the SW,
it's done by exchanging an EPROM (beeing pre-programmed at B&O).

As far as I remember, for a short time B&O manufactured an external DVD
controller for some NON B&O DVD-player ...

I have one of those somewhere - it is a modified Scart lead - I used it with a Panasonic recordable DVD player - works quite well. Limited players listed though. Had a quick look and there are 3 Sony players listed as well as the manuals on site.

This is correct, but it would only work with certain Panasonic or Philips players

The DVD controller can only be configured once as this is burnt into its memory. Once you have configured with one code it is not possible to re-configure it for anythinmg else.

Thanks for all the info. Has cleared a lot of things up. Think that the easiest thing to do will be to just get a DVD1 as has been suggested.
