So, I was "visiting" the B&O store in Vienna/Schottenring today, because the Corona quarantine made me realize I at least want to have a nice-looking TV in my living room, no matter the cost. I had my black Amex Centurion ready...
But actually, without even announcing it on their deserted and pitiful Facebook and Instagram accounts: B&O Schottenring Vienna does not exist anymore! The shop was closed some time before April apparently, no gear in sight when looking through their windows. What a sad sight!! Absolutely no info on their windows or anywhere else. Emailing them brought an error message in response...
Checking the bang-olufsen.com/de website, I am invited to place an order "starting at 14.000 Euro" for a TV, but no detailed information for anything, and no contact information. Are you effing kidding me???
I am heartbroken that my 20+ year old love for B&O (still owning a not-even-plugged-in-anymore BeoVision 9 and BeoLabs 5, however still having passion for this wonderful design) comes to an end now.
Whether some die-hard-fans want to believe it or not, there is no hope left for this brand. Over and out.
I don't understand this story on so many levels

I know…B&O virus has grown on me !
I think the key here might be that we should know he has a black Amex.

I think the key here might be there's some people, able (in mind and in money) to jump in in a store willing to spend a lot of money on the brand, and one way or the other, B&O is able to change their minds.
I'm afraid he had me at the Black Amex.
Jan bought the 9 and the 5's from me (if it's the same person) and I'm so glad to see him doing well enough to have the Centurion Card!! Amazing.
As for the shop in Vienna closing, I'm sure we'll see plenty more fall by the wayside after this...
Jan - Message me and I can put you in touch with a few great dealers who can supply you from the UK.
In these corona times you don't call ahead if someone is open or not? and if not you blame B&O? Also a beovision is expensive when you have a black card? You're a fan but leave lab 5's unplugged and the same goes for a bv9? And how exactly is this a brand related thing? should I blame B&O for all shops that go under or just the ones I happen to visit on a whim? it's a bizar story all together, like why didn't you use the concierge service with the card to plan these things out? Austria is a small country are there are something like at least another 7 dealers around and one right across the border in Bratislava...

As I live in Vienna too (and I bought the Stage recently from the Schottenring dealership), I went to offical B&O store locator, and apart from that closed one the nearest one is in Graz that is 180 km away. So no more stores in Vienna. I guess that is objectively a bit disappointing, regardless now of his Amex.
...and one more thing: a TV is not something you easily buy from another country. Once shipped, who is going to wallmount or stand-mount it and nicely hide all cables?
In the US you don’t buy TVs or electronics from the manufacturer. As long as you have warranty you can buy off of Amazon and have them install it, or any authorized dealer do it.
B&O in my life 😊:
I agree about Bratislava, only I won't change my mind about the fact that when you live in the city size of Vienna and a national capital, you do hope to have a B&O store. But as this situation must be recent, I anticipate B&O is looking for someone else to take over. :) #thinkpink
Apart from that, it was really a nice and well equipped store in prime location. Also, gents there were knowledgeable, professional and very pleasant to deal with. I am actually genuinely hoping that they might be "redecorating" rather than going out of business.
Mikipidia:Bratislava is like an hour away, surely that dealership could service you?

[Edit: Although their own web page at: https://www.b-o.sk/ is still operating. (Copyright 2020, but behind the times: produkty Stage & Harmony, but no Balance.) By the way, note that *their* models look neither angry nor vegan! Rather louche, actually...]
Reading jarmins earlier posts (e.g. here: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/26335/213207.aspx#213207 ) I fail to understand, why he wanted to visit the Vienna store at all.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

I'm tellin' you, I think the focus of the post was more about the Black Amex. I've posted about discovering a store was closed.... imagine if it went like this...
Today, I wanted to buy a pair of BL50's. And because I don't trust banks, I put my cash in a briefcase and handcuffed it to my wrist. I went to my local store to discover it was closed. No notice or anything! San Francisco had 3 stores when my passion for B&O started! I cannot believe this, as I had cash with me! Cash! I even called and explained that they should have notified me, as I had cash! Cash!
*Of course, my entire post is a joke. I know others have the means, and others actually have a black Amex, but that's hardly the tone when I read most posts.
My guess is the vast majority of B&O's target customers could have a Black Amex if they wanted one, and I think that was the point. Probably a comment that guy wishes he could retract, no matter how angry he might have been.
What I don't understand is why pile on someone for making an unpopular statement, to the extent of doing forensic research and reporting his posting history to repudiate the issue? Easy to do when the offender has low numbers, but when it is in the thousands...? Of course if he were a "favored" member, this thread would have been moderated, as recent dustup suggests. Lord of the Flies, redux.
By the way, the day before the guilty poster expressed great empathy and appreciation for the founder of BeoWorld after the turn in his business. Might even be a decent fellow.
Now maybe it will get lost in the ether.

Of course if the OP had complain of dropping NL over Airplay 2, no matter the color of his card or his post count he would have been differently welcomed and commented and etc…
Everybody is so quick on finding "points" but always dont want to see the background subject: We all love B&O, but B&O just want to make money (survive), turning off clients by heart (and cards) in the process. They deny their history, forgetting they build their reputation on that same history.
So maybe, the initial post was on frustration, not right that time or whatever, but its a sign of something everybody as experienced one way or the other including here on beoworld.
Instead of flaming and mocking, maybe people should just discuss and exchange point of view.
I understand you pain......
But should you not let the concierge at Amex deal with your request? They could just have one shipped from where ever to you... This is a feature of the card and it is a wonderful feature to use in situations like this... Just call Amex, tell them your predicament and I am sure that they will swiftly locate what ever item from B&O you may desire and have it delivered to you....
HECK your paying for this white gloved treatment.......
If the concierge at Amex is unable to accommodate your simple request I suggest you look into the JP Morgan Card. Far more accommodating if I must say so!!
