Firstly, photo to follow. Not quite fully set it all up yet.LG GX 55" + Stage + BeoRemote arrived Saturday. First impressions? Picture quality is simply stunning, especially for 4K-sourced movies and content. HD looks good, too.Surprisingly the TV has a fairly decent speaker. Indeed, it's so decent sometimes I can't tell if the Stage is on or the TV speaker when watching something like the news and other regular TV.Apps are good. So good I've realised I won't need the Apple TV. You get the Apple TV app, Netflix, Prime Video and other apps I use.
But, some less good news...
- Stage sometimes doesn't turn on with the TV. Anyone have any ideas on this? Very frustrating.- BeoRemote, as expected, doesn't work with the TV yet. No access to the B&O app on the LG Appstore.- No UK catch-up apps! No iPlayer, no All 4, ITV Hub, nothing. Incredible. All in all though, thoroughly recommended.
I dont think any of the 2020 LG's have the Uk catch up streaming apps.
Its and LG thing (obvs) - something has happened between them and the Freeview alliance (or whatever it is called).
It will get sorted though - but may take a search of LG forums to get an idea of timeframe,
Sandyb: I dont think any of the 2020 LG's have the Uk catch up streaming apps.
I'm more worried/annoyed that the Stage doesn't turn on with the TV, to be fair.

Mikipidia:I have one with a C9 panel and have no issues, also the C9 has those apps available. Don’t know why it’s any different for the CX
I think the GX hasn't had full B&O implementation so far. You can't access the B&O LG store app, the TV requires a firmware upgrade (due mid-July), so it's not quite fully integrated....yet. Same with the CX.
Still, the picture quality is unbelievably good. I used to bang on about my BV12-65, but this about 10 levels higher. So good. It's almost embarrassingly good in 4K.
Mikipidia:With the latter parts with the apps I meant the freeview and itv/channel4 aps and the like too. They seem to all be working fine on the C9 panel, so maybe it’s the same for those too. As in not fully validated by lg for their content store just yet?
As Sandyb mentioned earlier, LG lost the agreement to supply those apps for 2020, so any new TV shipped this year won't now include those apps (at least until they sort out the agreement).
Won't be a big issue for me as my Sky Q box should be installed Friday.
Nice!
Did the flat mounting wall bracket for the GX work well? Think that is a very clever solution.
Look forward to pictures.

The only downside - there has to be a downside - is that SD looks awful (as it's seriously upscaled to 4K), and low-quality HD looks a bit washed out compared to the BV12-65.
Obviously top quality HD or 4K is another level and then some.

Yes that is very true,
Lucky I only look at Streaming, so everything is good except HBO
And Itunes have very good deals on 4K HDR film, highly recommend
I can't remember if LG allows for input specific settings. If it does, then you can use a more vivid default setting (so that SD looks brighter and more colorful) and use the Apple TV 4K input calibrated for HDR. In general, since HDR is much brighter and more colorful, SD content with a setting that is optimized for HDR tends to appear dimmer and washed out in my experience. You'll also find that you might prefer the video and audio from some of the Apple TV app over the default LG Apps only because the Apple TV Apps are implemented better in some cases than their WebOS versions (in my experience Disney+ and Netflix fall into that category). YouTube App on the LG might be better since in my case (I have a Sony OLED) the Android TV version of YouTube is slightly better than on the Apple TV, but Netflix on Apple TV is better, even with the default Android app having access to Sony's Netflix calibration.
So using the Apple TV you might be able to get the best of both worlds - SD and HD.
The Apple TV remote works perfectly with the LG GX TV and Stage using HDMI CEC (although the Beoremote One looks much nicer :))
B&O in my life 😊:

It’s a black TV on a wall. Visualise it.
Its good to hear your thoughts on the GX , I've just got my CX (replacing a BV7-40 Mk3) and now its sitting proud on the BV7 floor stand thanks to STBrackets.
Still trying to decide about a Stage or standalone eclipse Sound Center - I guess i'll be waiting till the Stage works with the GX/CX before being able to try it out in home.

It's just face up on drawers! It's not on the wall. I'll try get a photo once it's all finished...
ToeKneeAus: Yes - the speaker in the TV is quite good for its size - I do find changing the sound setting (from AI Pro or Cinema to Voices ) is needed soemtmes to make voice more distinct - otherwise they get a bit lost. The picture quality is amazing - but i guess i was coming from a low bar with the BV7 :-). SD isn't too bad - but i'll always veer towards HD or better if possible
Interesting, thanks. I need to have a bit of a play with the picture calibration, too. At the moment I'm on Expert - Bright Room as my preferred setting.

In the meantime, you can reuse the Beolab 7-2 speaker of the BV 7. Do a search in the forum for the various ways of connecting it. The best is to use an external DAC connected to the optical output of the TV.
Moxxey,
Thanks for this thread! Much appreciated. Just ordered a GX65 and stage for our small tv room. TV going on the wall and stage sitting on a cabinet.
Did you sort the issue of the stage turning on automatically with the TV or is that subject to an update in the future?
Regards,
Ammier
Ammier: Did you sort the issue of the stage turning on automatically with the TV or is that subject to an update in the future?
It's random! Mostly it works, but it's only off the Apple TV. It's almost as if the Apple TV doesn't sync properly with the TV.
My latest issue is that the external LG Blu-ray player keeps dominating connections, so the GX keeps switching to the Blu-ray player and starts playing a movie. I can even manually turn off the player and the TV starts it up again. Perplexing.

These problems were what I was dealing with before turning to a Beovision with PUC.
CEC have never worked well for me, sadly.
Emil Jensen: These problems were what I was dealing with before turning to a Beovision with PUC.
True, but I find that the PUC doesn't always work smoothly either, especially with Sky. The number of times it's completely stopped working and I've had to spend a good few minutes playing with the cable to get it working again! Swings and roundabouts and I'm not forking out £8000+ for a 2017 Eclipse :)
I'd rather have a single unit like the Eclipse, but B&O just make it so hard. Perplexing why they don't update the panels as frequently as they did with, say the BV7.
I can buy a GX 55", GX 65", 2 x Stage and 2 x BeoRemote's for 1 Eclipse. And have change left.
same here CEC has its glitches, with Beoremote One and a Sony BluRay the skip buttons do not skip, they fast forward/backward. Useless, most need function for me für Music. Is there an other key which does it?
Update.
Sky Q finally installed today after 5 weeks waiting (every time the engineer was due it was raining and they won't go on the roof when it rains).
Picture quality on the GX is astonishing. Even regular HD looks like 4K due to the fantastic upscaling. Obviously 4K is another league. First time watching Sky Sports in 4K and it's stunning - looks like you're watching in the stadium
But, along with the positive, there's a negative. You can't control the Sky Q box from the LG remote. Or can you? Anyone managed this?
In answer to the no app thing? It will some time in
2021time frame to add them.
All new 2020 lg tv's will have no apps installed.
PaulGiles:To be fair, as much as I tried to persuade the family of the Beoremotes merits of one piece aluminium design etc they put it in the drawer and talk to the Sky Q remote. It works very well.
It works very well.
Paul, this makes no sense? I think you're saying that the BeoRemote doesn't work with the Q?
Another update from me. Sky Q installed Thursday. Watched football in 4K for the first time ever last night. Seriously? OMG. It's so good on the GX it looks like you're there - never seen anything like it.
My GX 65" arrives this week. Can't wait. I loved the BV12-65 picture quality, but it's no way near the level of a GX and 4K. I don't get astonished often, but this is something else.
And, yes, slightly annoying nothing controls the Q box. Even the LG 'magic remote' (which claims it does).
PaulGiles:I will do more testing of it over the weekend as I have only recently had Q installed too.
Thanks. The BeoRemote can't control the GX yet, but this should be fixed sometime in July. Would be ace if it can control the Q box, too (not holding out too much hope though).

Is there preliminary software that can be obtained from the dealer ? That was the case for the C9 last year before the official release by LG.
I think that is poor on LG side, I am glad I got C9 app works perfect, beoremote perfect, and all the tv apps👌 This should have all been put in place before launch. I have never had any issues with stage, C9 65 and Beoremote, and Apple TV 4K works well on CEC too👌I don’t see much difference in c10 too be fair or less your a gamer, I use it for movies only in bedroom, and streaming apps, so having them all working and present is a must.
Took 'em a while, but finally LG is selling their GX-matching soundbar. You might argue about its "design language" (kangaroo pouch) versus the Stage, but I like it: identical width, matching edge profile & vertical close-mount giving an integrated look. 65" only, wallmount only (but that's the point of a GX). Comes with a separate "wireless" "sub"woofer -- required, obviously, with that slim a box. Haven't heard it myself since it's brand-new, but presumably it has a less-spacious sound than the Stage because it's a basic L/C/R speaker and the crossover to the woofer is going to be pretty high. But to make up for that, it supports a true rear speaker pair; not clear if the wireless is built-in like the woofer or requiring their transmitter box. This should go well.
1. It is Meridian tech branding.
2. It is 1/2 the price
3. It has a separate sub (yuck) and WISA/Bluetooth for rear speakers?
3. It doesn't work with the BeoRemote.
Weird that LG markets 2 "luxury" brands for their TV audio, plus their own. A bit like Andrew Undershaft.
Wonder if B&O has flexed its muscle over this?
