Hi,

I'm new to the multiroom speaker approach from B&O. I have a BS Core and was wondering if I could use a BS1 (or any other of their multiroom speakers) as a remote control for the Core? So, e.g.: if the Core is playing music, while the BS1 is not, can I use the dial on the BS1 to control the volume or on/off of the BS Core?

(or do I really need to buy an Essence Remote for that or keep using the app?)

Thanks!

Sorry for the answer - but that won’t be possible.

As you write, you ned aa remote coupledto the Core....or the Bang & Olufsen app on a mobile device.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Ah, that's a shame. I don't have a B&O TV anymore, so I don't have a BRone lying around. And not sure about the Essence.

And not sure about the Essence.

The Essence remote is a very good Core companion. Where you cannot select precisely what you want to play, e.g a particular radio, track, album or playlist, you can easily control the sources you want to start, e.g. tap to join or start the latest played source, double tap to navigate in the configured local sources or join other experiences, move forward/backward in any playing list (music, radio), control the volume and shutdown all B&O devices when needed. All that in a small and nice object.

The B&O App works very well with the Core. If you want, with iOS14, buy an iPod Touch, install B&O App and use it as a remote control. You don't need to turn on lock screen etc. IMHO it is better than the Essence remote (I have 2 cores and 2 essence remotes) because you can control the music sources more easily from the App.

Also, when I use the Essence remote, often when I long press to put the Core into stand-by the remote just goes into pairing mode and I have to re-pair the whole thing. No such issue with the App. If you can afford it (unfortunately it is out of my league), the Halo might be the best option...

Are you long pressing the white or black disk of the remote?

Is one the right one? I typically just press where the dot on top is (long press) and it sometimes will switch source and then go to sleep or sometimes go into pairing. It's one reason I switched to using the app to put the Core in standby. Should I be careful on which disk to press? thanks!

Ohhh yes

Little dark disk: short press = pause, long press = All standby

Little light disk: short press = resumes a paused source, navigates amongst local sources defined in the paired product, joins multiroom

experience. Long press = BT pairing
