I just aquired my parents BM5500. Noticing the heatsink was very hot even at idle and volume at 00. Have resoldered the relay on the PSU board as per suggestion i another thread, and when I was at it also resoldered all the power transistors.

Didnt make any difference though. The heatsink is to hot to touch on the left side seen from the front.

Any suggestions where to start?

And by the way it is playing fine, just trying to avoid damage

Replace the idle current trimmers and readjust the idle currents.
Do one channel at a time, beginning with the channel with the current highest idle current.

Thanks for the input, just to be sure is it these two 100 ohms in the picture we are talking about?

Yes.
And the adjustment procedure is in the servicemanual.

While you are at it, I suggest you replace the black ROE caps too. They will be if not bad, then at least marginal by now.

Ok, the servicemanual available here at Beoworld only contains the diagrams.

Do you know if its availible somewhere else?

For the idle current settings you can also use a Beomaster 5000, 6500 or 7000 servicemanual.
The amplifier is basically the same.

Replaced the ROE caps and the trimmers and readjusted as described in the servicemanual. Now I can almost not feel a temperature rise at the heatsink Smile

Also changed the trafo to 240V while I was at it.
