Super nicely done!
mrCTE: Super nicely done!
Please, allow me to disagree: It's super cheesy, C'mon, fly thought PCB's and speaker frets like a vintage "intel inside" ad, skin hair rising, the guy wiping away a tear (watching Ad Astra, right?) and the wife, who was screaming in the store because "we could pay full scholarship to our two children with only one of those speakers" and now just grab the hand of her so sensible man… Huffff !
"Press Pause and Play", that one was very nicely done.
According my humble opinion marketing videos are good to make as they boost sales. Furthermore having read the course of action and goals of the company for the months to come I totally understand they are trying to convince potential buyers that their products in the home cinema market are of high quality etc etc. What they haven't understood all these years is that their products in the home cinema market are just that, beautiful to look at. Yes they do have great picture quality, exquisite sound, luxurious feel BUT on the fundamentals they do not deliver.
And to explain myself I will just remind you the Beovision 7 which had a video output for feeding a projector. Moreover we can think of the Beosystem 4 a AV receiver which WAS a stage manager as it had all this feature that someone who builds a home cinema would value (control inputs/outputs, with timing control, etc etc).
Prices of the above were between 4-12k (at least in my country). The home cinema product line up of today is a 9-12k TV of 55 and 65 inch and a 15-20k (not the 88 inch) of 65,77, and 88 inch. It is easy to understand that there is no comparison on the cost, maybe the eclipse could be a comparable solution but it lacks the projector output. Further more we are asked to pay the amount of money that we would spend for a year at a private school (at least here in Greece) to buy a product that its panel would be old in around 5-7 years....
In our house (I am 39 years old) we never had any other brand of TV or Audio system, or surround system (speakers included) but lately and sadly I find myself looking into other brands as their product offer makes more sense.
And to give a solution (as I am the type of person who doesn't like to just moan about stuff) a soundcenter that could be connected to both ANY TV and ANY projector, which would have all the audio goodies sound decoders, etc and video goodies 4k etc in the right price would be a product that most of the potential home cinema buyer would consider.
I see what you mean....but I also see no need for a projector/screen in our livingroom.
Thus I don’t miss a monitor out port.
As for the costs....you can get away with less than 2 x 90 plus 2 x 50......
If I were to huy an Eclipse/Harmony, I’d reuse my existing speakers.
But of course B&O wants to highlight/market their newest speaker products.
And there are those who can afford buying these....wirhout missing out the option for a private school for their children.
And - I know this is delicate - I don’t miss ‘all the audio goodies’. Would not know where to place the needed extra speakers in my living space.
Maybe this is the point = this is not about creating a ‘home cinema’ - it is about options for a cinematic experience in a living room/area.
Tassos:Sure this can be a solution for some people, it is not a solution for the clientele like myself, are you suggesting we should move to another brand? Furthermore on which basis would someone give a hefty amount of money after the fiasco of the Moment and products like Beovision 14? Everyone is free to spend his/her income the way they want, I am not judging this I am simply saying that when I spend my income I would like to buy something more than looks...

If you want TV and Projector, and ATMOS speaker setup.
Then yes it would be best to look elsewhere, as B&O do not offer this.
But when you are use to B&O it will be a hard shift.
I have had the non B&O, and it just don't work as well, at least imo.

Michael: I’m sure it would be possible to make a dual hdmi output on the eclipse and have it alternate which output to use so hdcp protection would be intact. Especially if they are trying to push home cinema again. They really DID do an amazing job on that front just a few years ago and it’s a pity they seemingly forgot all about it.
I agree, in that moving out of a B&O ecosystem is hard if one values design and audio performance. The software issues that made me switch from B&O to Sonos a few years ago have been and fixed and I went from all Bose to all B&O to all Sonos to now again all B&O.
B&O in my life 😊:

Michael:I like the speakers and the units they have for video but it’s a bit sad they never seem to get around to update the eclipse. I’m sure people except for me are happy with it but it would be nice with a newer model and perhaps also again support for a projector. It would be perfect for at least me as I could make my otherwise small room into a perfect cinema if it was possible to automate. I’m sure it would be possible to make a dual hdmi output on the eclipse and have it alternate which output to use so hdcp protection would be intact. Remember that the eclipse and Harmony use a lot from the LG panel, like the TV tuner. So it would not be easy, if possible to get an HDMI Out with that.
Also have you tried to have a projector? for me it was more a hassle than enjoyment, a 77" Harmony seems like a better choice.

If you see the last picture you will see the Harmony with the turning stand.

Yes a Projector gives something else I agree. As 100" is much lager.
But the picture is terrible compared to a OLED screen, and you need to be able to make your room dark, and it is best with a dark wall behind the screen.
Also if you want a proper Projector and screen, then please find that cheaper than a 77" CX, not really possible.
I have had projector 2 times, and never again.
Michael: Anyway, of course getting sources from the tv itself is trickier and probably not worth spending time on but the inputs form the sound center can of course easily be directed to hdmi a or a hdmi b output. For me TV is anyway being played back through a Motorola iptvbox over hdmi and otherwise I use Netflix, disney+ and other services through my Apple TV.

What do you do when you have plugged in your PS5 direktly in the LG screen, as you want to use HDMI 2.1.
Then you cannot get that picture on the Projector.
Not easy and diffently not going to happen.
You wrote two messages in tandem so I reply here:
- no problem to find a projector screen that can fold up that gives a good contast with a projector cheaper than a beovision 77" but as I said, I do not have space for a 77" tv and for cinematic experience I would really like a really big screen! A small OLED can never compete with that imho. If so, then all cinemas would also be OLED ;)
- PS5 can be plugged into the soundcenter, of course, in the current gen there is no good support - which is also why it needs to be updated.
I agree a small screen is not the same as a big one,
But projector is a dying species.
They dont have HDR, good black levels, and you only see 4K in hig end projectors.
And the Cinemas will also move to Mini LED of these reasons.
And about HDMI 2.1 it will come in the soundcenter at one point, but should we guess in 3 years time maybe?

Hehe, HDMI 2.1 was announced 2017 and released november that year. It is a fairly common technology in current gen products so a three year wait for B&O over the two years that already passed? Nah, sounds waaaay to long.Of course projectors and big screen monitors are battling but it still doesnt change the fact in the scenario I have. I would be happy to have a ultra short throw 4K laser projector for those moments I want to eat popcorn and chill with my friends and a nice scifi movie. The effect of being immersed in the movie is better tha a small picture with better contrast. And usually I dim the lights when watching a movie anyway so it really is not an issue. For daylight viewing and less special moments I would be happy to watch on a regular 55" screen. I also think Cinemas will change to using panelbased solutions more and more and I think we will se more of this in homes as well. I think the solutions where you make your own screen by using smaller panels without frames next to each other is really cool and a way to build a real AV screen in your home that can be integrated with the decor in a very cool way.
Hi Michael,
I agree on many of your views,
But yes the HDMI 2.1 was annonced in 2017, but not certified.
And can you mention another brand than LG that have it? Samasung have it in 1 input on their very expensive 8K tv's.
And Marantz and Denon have just annonced new surround recievers, again one HDMI 2.1 input.
It is a big joke,
But when much lager corporations than B&O cant do it, I dont count B&O doing it very fast either.
Do you?
Agreed, and thats right.
2.1 as a certified spec was pretty much still being tested by the av manufacturers through much of 2018 even.
Denon have only just brought out a full 2.1 AV processor, and yes it sonly LG who have put the fully specced ports on their TVs.
They will take their time as usual, especially as the consumer demand for it is still growing from a low base.
And it may well be (or is already) on BVs with the latest LG screens, but for the rest of B&Os portfolio, it wont be there for a while yet.
And if you're not a gamer, its really not urgent at all.

Well, releasing a product now without it would be plainly stupid. It might not be urgent but it is a technology that is coming to be stronger in not a long time. If you buy a product now, it's pretty nice if it is kind of good for a few years to come. But of course, not everyone needs or wants it. Especially the aging older B&O clientele, but the younger ones probably do.
But B&O TV have 3x HDMI 2.1 Input and 4 HDMI 2.0 inputs that must be sufficient (Only the Harmony, but i guess also the new Eclipse)

B&O product history since 1991: Ridiculously long to list in a signature.
We can continue arguing about things forever. I don't have time for it though. I work a lot and comment because B&O is a hobby of mine. For me they are a company who want to do things very well. Just look at the BeoGram 4002 that is now again current. Or the Beolab 50 or 90. Nothing ordinary about it. Lets not write four pages about HDMI 2.1 or Projector support. I wish they had it, and thats it. You guys have another opinion and that is fine by me too. I just WISH they did incorporate an extra HDMI output in the SoundCenter so a projector or some such could be used if prefered instead of the primary monitor. And of course, that raised the question of HDMI 2.1 for use with high framerate content like PS5 and I guess if they would make a new SoundCenter that it could incorporate the technology, it wouldn't necessarily cost them anything and the device is expensive enough to cover that. Anyway, there is still no new Eclipse, and they made a video about how good a movie can be, so I just hope they will deliver on that. Instead of that Intel inside feeling someone wrote about (exactly what I felt as well). Hehe. Peace!
Of course, you're perfectly entitled to wishing they had it.
Suggesting it would be stupid for them not to include it now / v.soon is different though.
Av reviewers aplenty have been telling people for a while now (well, spec obsessives really) to take a breath, that it wont be important for quite a long time, and that most people (again, a very small minority aside) dont care about it. And also that the brands know how well (or not) 2.0 gear still sells - better than any of us do.
Would it be nice, of course.
As for projector support, I agree that would be a very attractive addition for some, and given the high prices, it would be a very nice gesture from B&O if they did.

Let me put it in the following way, I am the guy who prefers having a projector than a Tv, I am waiting for around 3 years for B&O to come up with something like a new beosystem 4, I am tiered of waiting so I will probably get a second hand beosystem 4 for around 2k when I was willing to spend around 4-5k for a new beosystem 4..... At the end of the day I will have my “problem” solved....B&O would lose 5k....... and it could cross sell speakers as well......so the loss is bigger....just my humble opinion guys....

It is completely fair.
If I was you I would not wait, as it is not looking like it is going to happen.
