Dear Beoworlders,I usually play music through the Bang & Olufsen app and stream it to my speaker. Now, I can't play my music anymore.
Strangely, Airplay works well and TuneIn Radio within the Bang & Olufsen app seems to be working as well. Only when I want to play my music from the music app, it does not work.
Below are my questions:
1. The files are now AIFF. Does this make my speaker unable to play music? Does anyone have any experience with AIFF file?
2. I reset my product and reinstalled the Bang & Olufsen app. And it did not solve my issue. Am I missing something here?I hope Beoworld can help me deal with this problem. Thank you

I have 6 B&O streaming speakers. Music from the B&O App plays from my iTunes library and works flawlessly. I usually pick a playlist and play it. I am using the beta version of the app. I can control from 2 Essence remotes connected to 2 Cores (rarely), 2 iPhones purposed exclusively to be Beoremotes (i.e. runs B&O App along with my streaming services) as well as my iPhone and iPad Pro
No issues for me. So could be music file format...don't know.

Carolpa:Note: Airplay works max 48kHz and 24bit; Core compatible
When streaming from the B&O App, the device acts as a DLNA server, Airplay is not used here. For the purpose of helping the OP, I converted an ALAC file (24/96k) to a 24 bits / 96,000 kHz AIF file, played it against a M3 and I had no issue.
@Antonius Robin Iriawan:
- have you recently installed something new on your device? Something that could conflict with the TCP port used for the DLNA service, 8085 here.
- are your AIFF files higher than 96,000 kHz?

your test is exact what I ment. Because of Airplay limitation of bitrate and resolution, it always plays on a Core because it (bitrate/resolution) is within the specs of the Core. But if the bitrate and/or the resolution of the aiff files is beyond the specs of the Core, these files are not playable in the Music source. This has nothing to do with the B&o app.
f.e. ever tried to play a 32bit WAV on the Core! You simply can't..........
what are the resolution and bitrate of the aiff files? Note: Airplay works max 48kHz and 24bit; Core compatible The app is a controller, so the fault as discibed doesn’t originate in the app.

Dear Carolpa,Thank you for your reply. My AIFF files are 16 bit/44.1 kHz.
I see... it it does not come from the app, could it be my product then?

Dear mbolo01,
Thank you for your help.
I will answer with bullets corresponding to the questions:
Thank you for your log file. Now, I can take a look more closely.
Antonius Robin Iriawan:No, my AIFF files are 16 bit/44.1 kHz
Antonius Robin Iriawan:Thank you for your help.
You are welcome.
Is your product the Beosound 35 found in your signature?
If yes, the know limitations are:
Supported audio formats:
MP3, WMA, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, WAV, AIFF. Standard sample rates up to 192 kHz, stereo and up to 24 bit.WMA lossless is not supported
So there is nothing obvious preventing you to play 16 bits / 44.1 kHz AIFF files.
As Carolpa stated, try with one or two files with other formats such as ALAC or AAC as you are in the Apple world, in order to identify if the AIFF change is the root cause of your issue.
I would like to update on this issue.I still have my old phone (iPhone 6s, iOS 13) with my old file (ALAC). My old phone could stream smoothly.
In my new phone (iPhone SE, iOS 14), I still store 2 songs in ALAC and all of them worked fine.
@mbolo01,I would like to ask. How did you obtain the "log files"?
I just tested again with my old phone, playing AIFF through Bang & Olufsen App and it worked fine.It seems that the problem is in my phone, not really the speaker itself.
I am not sure what should I do. Re-install the Bang & Olufsen app again?
Antonius Robin Iriawan:I would like to ask. How did you obtain the "log files"?
mbolo01: The “log file” is a live output of the speaker. Assuming the BS 35 has the same software logic, using a browser of your choice you can go to http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080/BeoNotify/Notifications Where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the BS 35 IP address Note that if the BS 35 receives no music flow, you’ll have no noticeable activity in this page. You can try removing the B&O app, restart the iPhone and reinstall the app. [edit] “Did you build your iPhone from the previous one backup? If yes, I would try adding the AIFF files again from your Music library.” I’m sorry, you already mentioned that your old iPhone had the ALAC and the new receives freshly converted to AIFF files. Question: I don’t see any benefit converting ALAC to AIFF, can you explain the rationale ? I

I
Got it. I am going to try that!
I set my new iPhone as a new phone, not from my previous phone's backup.
3 months earlier, I bought a new computer and I wanted to re-rip all my CDs to AIFF. The reason is I would like to try listening to AIFF files and see whether AIFF sounds different compared to ALACSo, I did not convert ALAC to AIFF. All AIFF files were ripped from my CDs.

Based on the data above, it seemed that the player received both AIFF and ALAC file. The difference is that when it played ALAC, it constantly updated almost every second whereas the AIFF did not.
Dear Mbolo01 and Carolpa,I have a new update again. Before, my old phone with iOS 13.6.1 played smoothly the AIFF file through Beolink Multiroom. Now, I have updated my old phone to iOS 14.1 and it did not play AIFF file.
Does that mean the culprit is actually the iOS 14.1?

Which information do you want to see? I don't know the exact thing you are looking for
In iTunes, right click on the AIFF track, then Track Information, click on file File tab.
It should expose file details.

Ok, here you are
Or probably this
Ok, I was able to reproduce your issue and I think it is related to B&O App running on IOS 14.1.
I tested an AIF file freshly ripped with the same specs than yours (my previous test with AIF was wrong as I had an AAC conversion occurring while copying the file to the iPhone that I disabled now, sorry for the confusion) on both a XR / IOS 14.1 and an IPhone 6 / IOS 12.4.8.
Using B&O App from current version 3.7.2 down to the oldest beta version (3.5.0), I could not manage to play the AIF file against my Core, while I was able to play it with the iPhone 6 using B&O App 3.7.2.
I suggest you open a case with B&O, describing what you initially describe and adding that it has been reproduced by another user.
You can provide me the case number when you have it and I'll raise one too linking it to yours.
Good luck!

That's extraordinary. The effort that you have put really impresses me. I do appreciate it.I have started asking B&O through its customer support and I will tell them that another user has reproduced the same problem. The case number is 270564.
Merci beaucoup!
Antonius Robin Iriawan:Merci beaucoup!

or
Is the music file copied to a DLNA server (Twonky, Minimserver, etc)? And streamed to a B&o device?
Edit: got it! the iTunes library is turned-on in the B&o app (an almost forgotten option; I never was an iTunes-fan )
Edit 2: it also effects WAV files.
@Antonius: why use a phone as music server? I've got 3Tb DSF, WAV and FLAC files.
@Mbolo1: I now understand my confusion. "DLNA server" was mentioned before, but iTunes is no DLNA server; Apple isn't DLNA certified (by choice).

mbolo01:B&O App activates a mini-DLNA server in the iDevice
Carolpa:The app uses the Apple Music app (or parts of it services) as can be seen on your iPhone

Currently, I don't see a need to have a music server on its own and the drives in my phone and laptop are still able to accommodate all my needs. In fact, I consider getting a CD Player because I own a lot of CDs.

I used a service to convert all my CDs to lossless audio files, which I put on a raspberry Pi set up as a DLNA server. Now I have access to all music from all 450 CDs without having to deal with the physical media. It works very nicely!

I added the issue to the list I maintain here --> https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/41967/306056.aspx#306056
I raised a case too #273969
@Antonius Robin Iriawan: please update us when you receive B&O productive feedback.

Thank you for your help! The last email for my case (270564) was on the 24 October 2020.So far, no new update. I will keep you updated on the post that you mentioned.
While we wait for the OP's update, may I ask a more basic, clarifying question? Several of you on this thread have mentioned downloading, and playing back, AIFF files to the iPhone. How is this done?
It's my understanding that using either iCloud sync or iTunes sync (now: Finder sync on the latest mac OS) will automatically convert any higher rez file (AIFF, ALAC) to 256 AAC.
I'd like to be wrong about this.
