Hi all,
I have my Beolab 50s connected to Beosound Core.
However, when the music is not playing, I could hear a noticeable hiss coming from the tweeters.
When I’m using USB audio connected to my Mac, there’s no hiss.
Is this supposed to happen?

The Core shall be connected by optical to Beolab 50 for optimal sound. It can be connected via Powerlink but will then suffer from lower processing quality from the speakers internal DAC. This is a design choice (although stupid, as it can not be regulated).I would suggest you connect it over optical instead. It is possible that the sound you hear are a result of using an unshielded or badly shielded cable of low quality between the devices. You need a S/FTP Cat6 or 7 cable for optimal signal transfer without balancing or interference issues.
Well - all ‘ways into’ the 50’s are basicly treated the same way in the processing of the speaker/s with the exception that the analog connection runs through an ADC-converter.
When you connect a source analog you will have a slightly higher noice floor, that you can measure, but hardly hear.
I’d suppose that the (quality of) the used PL cable primarily is the reason for the ‘noticable hiss’.

Wouldn't it be fantastic that when you buy a pair of a 25.000EUR speakers, you get as well specifically instructed how to achieve the best sound quality? So that you don't have to reach out to this forum? Or is that too much to expect? (this is not the first thread with the same subject, right?)
Probably. Kinda disappointing though since the cables are installed by my dealers and are I guess “official” B&O ones. Will check out some optical cables.

Correct. The noise floor is lower with optical in and out from BS Core based on my experience as well. It’s highest with volume control audio out from a TV.

In my Core setup, I prefer using Toslink since the glass fibers aren’t susceptible to EMI like copper Powerlink cables are. I’ve noticed less feedback (I.e., hissing) issues when using Toslink versus Powerlink. That is to say, my Toslink cables don’t hiss at all.
