I'd be interested to know what we, the BeoWorld collective, think is the best product in the current B&O line-up is..
The Playmaker, for the fact it's relatively cheap and kind of brings B&O into the current technological age?
The BeoLab 5's, for their performance and design which is so unique it hasn't really aged in 10 years?
The BeoVision 11, as it's the product we all asked for - and got ?
or is it another product in the line-up ?
There are plenty of reasons a product could be considered the best in the current line-up, wether it be down to it's technical merits, or what it achieves for a relatively low cost - or timeless design.
Choose one product each, and tell us why! .....
BV11.
Up to date connectivity and superb sound from a thin cabinet. Motorised hinge gives it a wow factor.

Hands down BV11. Seems like the most up-to-date effort of B&O in comparison to competition out there.

BeoVision 11, especially the 55.
The Play products have all been fun and sold well, but the 11 is the first core product that feels like everything is perfectly aligned. Even with some dormant NetLink features and SmartTV functionality to come on line in the coming months it's an incredible picture, great sound, slim as can be, and priced right where it should be. It's also a size that's competitive in the US market which we've been very slow to ramp up to. Most US homes simply can't live with a 40" or 46" TV as their main unit and we can easily see even larger screens in the 60s-80s becoming the standard as the weight and prices drop. If we can keep up with that curve with prices that are as reasonable as the BV11 we'll be in good shape.
Beolab 5s, because they're great. They need an updated DAC, though.
Beolab 9s, because they too are great, and much easier to fit into about any room.
Beosound 5 Encore, because of its potential. Now please unleash that potential.
Beovision 11, because it has the design of the BV10, only slightly more refined and much more capable.
Beo6, because it too has great potential.
I just realised you want us to just pick one. I guess in that case, it has to be the BL5s.

Beolab 5, by far.
Beo 4 - (almost) perfect remote!(if you could program it without IR trans, Lintronic etc. it would be THE PERFECT REMOTE)

Playmaker for what it does,not how it looks,and saves buying a seperate dac and ae.

For me, the best product that B&O has produced is the BL3s. Having owned the BL5s, BL9s and BL3s, amongst other B&O speakers, I've been the most impressed with the BL3s, considering their size, design and flexibility. BL5s are superb, sure, but only in a specific environment. The BL3s are more flexible and universal.
I don't know if a TV can be regarded as the best product as it's outdated so quickly. I've owned my BL3s since 2006 and never looked back. They are as good now as they were then. And should be in 5 years. Buy a BV11 now, and sure it's great, but can I say the same in two years? Not so sure.
In the current line-up I would only buy Beolab 3, 5 and 9 and the Beo4. I quite like the Beovision 11, but forking out € 6k for a 40'' TV that I will only use a few hours a week at best and that will be obsolete in a few years is not going to happen.

To me, the Beolab 5 stands out of all the B&O products...
Unique design, exceptional performance, a pleasure to own and a pleasure to listen to...
I'd always buy them again...

I am shocked as to how many of you are such big fans to the Beolab 3s. I think they only performs well near field IMHO. I only use them as computer speakers. Perhaps most of you are using them with subs? But I have to agree it might be the only solution who wants maximum sound from speakers this tiny.

I used to think that way before my stumbling upon of BMR drivers.
It will be cheaper for sure!
We shall see in a few years whether the acoustic lenses will still be given as much focus as they are given now.

Having owned the BL5s, 9s and 3s, I prefer the 3s. Hell, you do understand that most people in the UK do not live in mansions :) With most people living in apartments these days, the BL3s are ideal and many people who have heard my BL3s, agree. The BL5s are great in the right environment, the BL9s are good but somewhat middle range for music (not for movies), but the BL3s are dynamic and bright in a small-medium sized room.
You need to remember that 99.9% of users out there would never spend anything like £2500 on speakers, so for them the BL3s top nearly anyone else's speakers. Forget the fact that most B&O users have a higher-than-average income, thus the BL3s are regarded to them as 'computer speakers'. For most people, they blow them away.
If I listen to my BS8 and the BL4 computer speakers, the BL3s completely blow them away. Superb, with or without a sub. For the size - and I'll emphasise their size - they do what they are supposed to do and much more.

Allow me to oppose some of the views in the other thread:
I love my BS5/BM5 combo!
Both design and sound are superior. Just hide the BM5 so when listening to "CDs" the only thing you notice is the bright screen with coverart. Very nice and I believe B&O is the only company that could come up with this design.
I quite agree that the interface lacks basic features and why B&O has decided not to implement these is a mystery. Can¨t we get B&O to change their priorities?

BeoLab 3, 9 and 5 ALT speakers: this is where B&O still makes a true difference in my opinion.
I would just like to see BeoLab 3 and 5 with a further development of two existing BeoLab 5 features: integrated USB DAC and remote-controlled volume. That would make a fantastic product for the booming computer audio segment: just connect to a computer filled with lossless files (forget BeoSound 5) and here you go with a minimalist, user-friendly and fantastic sounding system!
And Beo4 (although I think the old Beolink 1000 was outstanding, too).
Agreed. But I think the digital modules should now be external add-ons instead. Digital technologies are moving at such a rapid pace that I think will work best integrated externally as plug-in modules like individual playmakers. B&O loudspeakers usually last in the product range for more than a decade so.... yes I think it will be a good idea that those digital devices become external modules instead. There are plenty of active loudspeakers out there that have integrated Dacs but almost all of them are refreshed every couple of years or so.
Regarding the ALT I think it has served its purpose. And should now be replaced by BMR. I know I know you guys may not like my pushing of BMR drivers ( I am in no way affiliated )but I just think it's a natural next step for B&O to take. It offers very similar dispersion but without limitations in terms of vertical axis dispersion and it is quite a middle path for between usual dome drivers and ALT loaded drivers with the added plus of producing seamless sound all the way from the lowest midrange to the highest high from a single unit. And of course again I must mention that is a lot more cost effective and way less limiting aesthetically too. Read up on the tech and maybe you might not find me so ridiculous after all?
And please don't misunderstand me I am in no way against B&O like some people might have perceived me to be. I would just like B&O to continue producing things I would buy and for B&O to succeed. I am after all a big fan.
Oh and I almost forgot the original Beocenter 2300 that brought B&O back from limbo and the first ever B&O product that I had the pleasure of playing around with. Victoria Beckham once mentioned how automatic glass sliding doors reminded her of Bang&Olufsen. That must be the very product that inject B&O into people's consciousness. So now with all the fancy sliding CD doors gone from the B&O range what will its next move to put itself back on track?

I bought the BL3s ages ago and they are in the office now, along with the BeoCom 5s and a Beosound 4.
The BL5s I bought a while back, pre-calibrated. They were superb pre-calibrated, but after calibration in my home, they were never the same (thanks to my wooden flooring and sash windows, I guess). Ended up selling them an investing the money in something very different.
The BL9s were in conjunction with my BV7 and they were great for movies. Moved them on though when I traded in the BV7 and bought a BV10.
BL3s for me are just a great all-round good value speaker and, based on remarks from other non-B&O friends, nearly everyone is amazed by their ability.
For me it would have to be the Beolab 5, a speaker that gives up nothing to any audiophile system ive ever heard, and at a far saner price than many. It shows, for those willing to get past their anti B&O prejudices, that B&O's audio engineering chops are as good as anyone's.

BV11 does look very good, have a great picture and sound and very nice features.BV7-55 is for me THE B&O product, it is much more than a TV, for me it defines the design of B&O.
Speakers: BL5 and BL3
BL5 is what we want, but dont have the money. BL3 is design wise very special and does sound really good. I do have the BL3 and BL9, and to the BL9 I must say that it is amazing how much power such relative small speakers have. It is very difficult to make iconic speaker like the BL8000's and include the ALT technology. BL8000 is an design icon, but I do not really like the sound that much.

What it seems like somebody knows how to get around. Switching speakers, TVs etc... Do you do that with the official dealer or through secondhand dealerships? I guess you are more into TVs?
