Hello to all community,
I have been working in a Beocord 7000 that refuses to play. The unit looks like in perfect condition, all belts have been changed and in fact moves in FF and Rewind without problem.
The issue starts when the play is press, the capstan try to engage but changes from one side to other because the tape seems stucked.
It would be possible to FF and Rewind if the black wheels are blocked or partially blocked because of the famous small white pin? I did what is advised somewhere in the forum but I'm unsure if the thickness got has been enough
Any idea where to look for?
Thank you very much
Which drive type is this - 1-belt or 3-belt type?
Martin
Hello Dillen,
It is a honor for me that you answer my request, I really appreciate it.
It is the three belts unit.
Thanks for helping me to find a solution to bring this BC 7000 back to live.
Check if the static discharge plate has broken off its holder. If one of its "arms" is not on the bearing (brass collar) but instead on the capstan, it can block the tapeheads from engaging.
Red circle shows it broken off, and the arm (just to the left of it) is resting on the capstan. The other arm (sadly out of view in this photo) is resting correctly on the side of the bearing.
Thank you Martin,
Yes I guess this could be my case.
The black plastic pin seems to have lost the retention and the static plate is not flat.
Do you know how to fix the plate, I mena can I glue the static plate to the chassis and bend the arm to touch the bearing?
Best Regards
Yes, glue the metal plate to the remaining parts of the black plastic tab (carefully not to smear glue in places it shouldn't go).And then move the arm to touch the brass bearing rather than the chrome capstan.
Dear Martin,
Unfortunately your kind suggestion did not solve my problem. I bend the arm to precisely touch the bearing but nothing happened.
FF/RW smooth and silent runnig but when I push play, the head try to engages and after first try in one side move to the other rotating the head as supposed, repeting this sequence two times until stops.
When I push the upper white plastic piece seems that the black rotating wheel underneeth moves freely, not as the left hand side but free of blockages.
Thanks again for your support.
