Hi.

I just got a BeoSystem 3 and a BeoVision 4-50 for next to nothing. So far so good.

Now I'm trying to connect my BV 4-50 to my BS 3. In the manual for the BV 4 it says I'm supposed to connect SERIAL to MONITOR on the BS 3, DVI (Slot 2) to Display 1 on the BS 3 and IR (SLOT 3) to the IR IN (9 pin) on the BS 3. My question is how do I do that since there IS no IR slot on the BV 4??? And then how are the two supposed to work together without the 9 pin IR cable connected between them? I understand from the BV 4 manual it should have a build in IR receiver and work together with the BS 3 using the included 9 pin IR cable.

Most beovision 4s did not have an integrated IR - so you’ll need an external one.

wiring via either the 3.5mm jack or via the 9-pin plug is posssible. Here’s the wiring for the 3.5mm jack approach.

Ok. Thank you, Frog.

I got an IR eye with a 9 pin connector that came with the BS 3. So I should just connect that to the BS 3, and the other cables as advised, and it should work? Just got confused that the manual tells me to connect a cable to a socket that's not there :)

Yes - that's all you need to do.

So I did, and everything is working just fine now Smile

So I guess the manual I got is for a different model of the BV 4-50, but never mind.

Thanks again

Hi Frog,I'm very interested in this post as I have a Bv4-50 mk3 which the seller assured me ,has a built in IR receiver so no need for the "magic eye".

However I believe that this screen needs a rather unusual cable to connect to a BS3 which is,I think an RS232 to a "Molex" connector cable.

I will try to add pics of the cable that I'm told that I need. Can you confirm what is actually needed to connect a BV4-5O MK3 to a BS3?

Thanks in advance.

Alan

ps.cant find the option to add files from my pc,sorry
