In another thread here people were saying that BL28 is the BL20 replacement...

Either way, I’m very excited. We haven’t had a new BeoLab product in quite a while!
As you internet detectives discover more on BL28, keep us posted!
Currently: BeoLab 17, BeoLab 18, BeoSound Core, Beosound Level, Beosound A1 2nd Gen, BeoPlay S8 Connection Hub, Halo, Essence Remote
Previously: BeoSound 1 non-GVA
I’m also leaning towards the 28 being an 18 successor rather than 20... it would be too confusing otherwise haha. It would make a lot more sense for the 20’s replacement to be called 30. Definitely looking forward regardless though!

Was told by a B&O saleswoman that it's a successor of BL20.
Could the name indicate a mixture of BL18 & BL20?

The namings of the products is currently competely confusing, so I do not see something better in either solution. For me it makes sense that the next speaker is a BL20 replacement as the 20's are among the oldest products of the range and their design is not coordinated to the current range of products (read : no wood option). BL17 should come next because the bookshelf speakers are also a bit dated.
And concerning the sales, the BL18 sells like hot cakes (luxury hot cakes, that's still a niche product) whereas the BL20 never had a big commercial success.

Yes the Beolab 20 is in many ways like Beolab 9, so pretty old now.
But else it was introduced with Beolab 17/18/19….
Beolab 17 is discontinued, and successor I would say is Beosound Level (Wood option)
No surprise if Beolab 20 is also discontinued.
The Beolab 18, they sell too many to discontinue, I think.
mbolo01:Apparently a BL 18 with a bass module, don’t know more BS Moment, BS Core, BG 4002, BC 4500, BS1, BL18, BL19, BL8000 + RCV1, A6, M5, M3, A1, P6 (tks Botty), H5, TR1

I know…B&O virus has grown on me !
Just another data point: I was told BL28 will likely replace BL20. ~15,000 USD.

I have no idea what is coming - I can only speculate.
I would be shocked if B&O released a £11k - $15k BeoLab.
I can see the need for 2 true Beolabs in the range below the BL50 (replacements for the BL20 and 3, with 3 being the oldest design) but slapping that amount of dosh down for a loudspeaker does not make sense to me in the current financial environment.
A BL3 replacement in the £3 to 4K range makes more commercial sense to me but even that is pushing it.
I would settle for a pair of BS Balance, stripped of the BS, re-tuned and NL/WISA compliant and called Beolabs. Makes more sense to me?
Compact, powerful enough for most rooms, “bigger” sound that a standalone BS, and price point that should be in the 2 x BS Balance range

I'd agree with that. I loved my BL3s and allowed surround sound on a budget. A BL11 sub then added a little extra bass.

Are you talking about B&O's numbering making sense..? Why? It never has
Once Beolab 1 was the top speaker - then came BL 5 - and then the BL 9, as a cheaper alternative to the BL 5 (maybe the "real" sucessor of the BL 1).
The sucessor of the BL 9 was then called BL 20. Not much sense here
B&O always have internal names/numbers for their products.
The real names (those that we know) are created late in the process - often in the marketing division.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

The numbering makes a heck of a lot more sense than the naming convention in use today.
steve1977:I doubt we’ll see a beolab below BL18. This space now seems occupied by single point speakers with stereo / surround with PL becoming the more niche. There is huge space right now between the BL18 and BL50, so that’s the obvious gap in the portfolio. So, my guess would be the space currently occupied by BL20.
If it's replace the BL18 then it will have to be blooooooody spectacular in design to replace an iconic speaker design (8000's & 18's) that has been in the B&O range since 1992. If it replaces the 20's then I'm very intrigued in the design... again in low standing speaker?
With the advance that the accoustic engineers have made the last years I guess we'll have something that sinds below the 50's but will gain significantly against the '18's and more or less the '20.. The '50 still use the accoustic lens so my guess is that this will also be available in the '28 but in a completely different way.
And.. let's make another bold guess. Incorporate the Mozart platform in the speakers.. Now that would be a statement... No additional black boxes needed. Ladies & Gentlemen... Place your bets! :-)
Fansastic:It needs wisa / PL as it must be able to be part of the Beovision environment also. I hope it is a true replacement of the BL20’s with acoustic room compensation and a better design and colour options. More impressive design then 20’s and smaller than 50’s please BV Eclipse 55 Brass - BL 18 Brass - BL 19 Brass - BL17 Black - BL 3 White - BS Moment - BS 2 Brass - BV Horizon 48 - BS3000 - BS 3200 - BS Essence MK2 - BL 4000 - V1 40 Black - V1 40 White - BLC NL/ML - H6 - H4 - E8 Motion - A8 Earphone - Beolit 12 - Beolit 15 - Beoplay A1 Green - Beoplay A3 White
kuyttendaele:It’s a “BeoLab” so PL & Wisa will be standard I guess...
steve1977: kuyttendaele: It’s a “BeoLab” so PL & Wisa will be standard I guess... Unless the “mozart” will allow a beovision integration in the way that sonos does it. This would replace wisa. So far, we haven’t seen a new feature of mozart besides b&o radio. So, maybe bl28 will see the real world of mozart...

Why would it replace Wisa? Wisa is a replacement for a cabled connection. It has noting to do with the integration of a beovision. In my setup I have my 1x BL6000 connected through PowerLink to my BeoVision 14, the other BL6000 through Receiver1 (Wisa) because I cannot have a cable from that speaker to my system. Works perfectly!
Update - read all about it!
Beolab 28 will be a 18 with subwoofer built into the base - should be available by spring!!
Very exciting!!

Tifoso48:Beolab 28 will be a Beolab 18 with subwoofer built into the base
Just spoke with a very well connected B&O store owner.
It will look like Beolab 18, be WiSa compliant and have a subwoofer built into the base.
He also gave an approximate launch date of spring.
He has always been spot on, so no reason to doubt him.
Duels:That will need to be quite a big base.
.....or a small subwoofer.
Millemissen:.....or a small subwoofer.
Or maybe two small subwoofers - one in each base?
