I couldn't figure out how to delete my original post, so I'm simply amending it to: Initial problems with tangential tonearm were resolved. It turns out that a missing screw in the base of TX2 I just acquired caused slight misalignment issues for the tonearm dropping and rising. Once I replaced the missing screw in the base, the tonearm functioned perfectly. It dropped neatly into the groove without problems; it rose properly as well. All good now.
A crackle sound when lifting and lowering could point to a need for a shot of contact cleaner to the muting switch.

Hi
Did you try to put the SMMC on your running TX2?
How does it perform there?
Kind regards
Christian
Right. Turns out it was a simple misalignment (albeit slight). Fixed by making sure BOTH screws in the base of the unit were present and accounted for.
All better now. All I needed was BOTH screws in the base of the unit.
I tried the SMMC4 and it works great!
Congrats and enjoy you vinyl collection.
Dillen: Where is the muting switch? Now I think I may be having a problem with it.
