question wifi setting beosound1 and beoplay m3

Have just seen this setting but I dont understand what it actually controlls.

 

The setting text is :

This setting recently appeared on all devices with the latest software update and to be honest one can only guess what it made for as B&O rarely or never communicate on changes.

Maybe you can open a ticket with B&O asking about it?

I guess that it is for larger houses with multiple access point.

Just guessing.

Would be nice to get an official explanation for this.

I did read that too. 
My thoughts - when I read it, were - that it is a setting that lets the device/s keeps the connection to the wifi even when ‘asleep’/in Standby mode. 

Meaning making a faster connection possible, when you start using it.

Some times the app takes a while to recognize the devices (that are on wifi) - this could make this process faster.

However, maybe I also am only guessing.

This is good news for apartments in areas with Wi-Fi congestion, I gather.

So what you're suggesting is that it's not really the roaming part that is beneficial, but the fact that the B&O product stays connected to Wi-Fi even while in standby mode? This would make sense (assuming that without this feature enabled, it always needs to re-attach when it wakes up - not sure this has been 100% confirmed though...)

Mine don’t seem to disconnec from WiFi during standbyt, but one unit can get stuck on a more distant access point than the nearest and therefore suffer from poorer signal. This new function might mitigate this.
