Hi

We have a Bang & Olufsen Moment, and recently I have noticed a black spot appearing on the screen after it has been on for a while (a couple of hrs), it is slightly smaller than 1 cm in diameter, there is no problem with the screen working as normal when it is there, and it dissapears after the unit has been turned off and allowed to cool.

I am assuming there is a fault developing with the LCD screen?

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Cheers

Derek

That sounds plausable, now does anyone know how to get access to the battery?

You need a special tool to get the wooden pannel out. Go to a dealer for support.

BV Harmony 65 / Eclipse 55 / BL 50 / 19 / 18 / BS 2 all brass

BV Horizon 48 / V1 40 / BL 17 / Beoplay S3 all black

V1 / BL 3 / BS Essence MKII / Beoplay A3 all white

BS Moment / BS 3000 / BS 3200 / BL 400 all silver

Headphones / bluetooth speakers / BLC NL-ML / BLGateway

I know…B&O virus has grown on me !

BEO apparently WILL NOT under any circumstances release a battery to me, they will only supply to a recognised service engineer to fit at great expense when the job only takes a couple of minutes.

Does anyone know where I can source a replacement battery please?

Cheers

You might also check with Sound Affair, who seem to sell at least a few spare parts.  I have used them a couple of times for replacement BL6000 woofers.  Very helpful people.

https://sound-affair.com/bang-and-olufsen-product/beolab-6000-speaker-replacements/

Sources: 2x Beosound Moment • 4x Beosound Essence Mk II
Speakers: 3x Beolab 8000 • 2x Beolab 6000 • 2x Beolab 3 • 3x Beolab 2
Integrated:  1x Beosound 2 • 1x Beosound Level • 4x BeoPlay M5 • 1x BeoPlay A6
Control:  16x* Essence Remote  • 1x Beoremote Halo

* Yes, really! 🤦‍♂️

Hi

Thought I would give an update to the "Black Spot" issue we had.

I spoke to B & O in Denmark, who flatly refused to supply me a battery, but would only supply to thier registered engineer the total cost would be around £180.

I managed to source a replacement battery from a company in Germany for the price of £24.78 delivered, it took about 1 week and arrived this morning.

I fitted the new battery (2 minutes work) and it powered up fine, except the volume wheel and on/off button would not respond, they worked fine using the app on my phone.

After allowing the battery to charge until 85% I did a factory reset, now everything is working as normal. below is a link to the companies site where the repalcement battery was obtained if anyone else needs one.

https://www.cellephone.de/en/cellephone-battery-li-polymer-for-bang-olufsen-beosound-moment-replaced-8700112-3100-mah_9138_9543

Thanks for the help in diagnosing this fault.

Cheers

Derek

Seems that this video been blocked for private viewing only; did anyone mirror this video or made capture of the procedure itself how to remove the wooden part?

To remove the back/wooden piece all you need is a credit/debit card push the card down between the wood and metal frame and gently lever the wood on one of the long sides upwards moving around the side as you do it bit by bit it will come away, there are no wires attached to the wood.

Once removed you will see the battery, which is stuck down with double sided tape which you gently peel away using the same credit/debit card, the electrical connection just pulls out horizontally, in the video they disconnected the single black wire to give access to the battery multiplug, but I just moved the wire out of the way instead.

All in all the battery took about 2 minutes to replace, then a factory reset was needed, but as the new battery was only charged to 57% I let it charge up to about 85% before doing the reset.

Once reset it seems to be working fine and the black spot is not to be seen, as I assume the original battery was starting to bulge against the LCD screen.

I would also recomend that you earth yourself to avoid any static that coiuld harm the moment components.

Cheers

Derek
