Hey everyone, did you know that you will soon be able to stereo pair two Emerge speakers directly in the B&O app?  A new software update which launches very soon will make this possible without needing to use Chromecast - thanks for listening to my request B&O!  I will release a video with full details as soon as this update is rolled out...watch this space!

Hi,

Not yet, but I am now planning to buy a second Emerge for this, as I would love to be able to play them in stereo.

I will update you once I have got this tested!

Kind regards, Steve.

Is it a SW update or an app update? Haven’t seen a new version of the app in the App Store. My dealer told me the launch of the feature has been pushed back a bit (it is called Speaker Link, right?).

Hi 1990,

There have been both software and app updates in the past day or so, not sure which one triggered the change but it is a very welcome update. This is just what is needed to sell a second Emerge to many owners of a single speaker!

Kind regards Steve.

Definitely a sw upgrade of the little speaker - and an app update in order to make it happen....if you have 2 of them.

Wondering if that is done using the same technology, that also works in the BL28 (LC3plus from Fraunhofer)....probably is.

in that case the BS Balance should be up next, I guess.

Amazing news!

It would also be great to have some confirmation on what sources support stereo playing if the speakers are stereo-paired with the B&O app rather than with Google Home (in which case, it only supports Chromecast as an input, please correct me if I'm wrong).

Hi,

I'm just waiting for the opportunity to test this, I think it should work for all sources, but I will report back asap once I have checked.

Kind regards, Steve.

Great news Steve and thanks for posting.

What happens if you try to un-pair (separate) them?

I tried this feature (not through the app) but the hard press of buttons on the A1 to pair them.  And when i tried to use them independently, it would always look for the second one and it would get confused.

Even factory resetting them hasn't made them the same ever again.

It might be diff technology but the principle is the same.

Is this the long awaited new mozart feature?

Any hope to see this on non-mozart speakers like the BS1 or is this a hardware limitation?

Just stereo pairing or also surround pairing?

Is the only way to play to the group through the b&o app (which makes sources very limited) or also via AP / CC?

Possible to join the pair via “touch to join”? Or via an essence remote?

Can the stage be paired as center for a 3.0, 3.1 or 5.1 setup?

So many questions… This is really big news and a long awaited feature coming alive!

Its a feature that is only implemented on the products using the Mozart platform as I understand it.

steve1977:

For this feature Mozart platform is required. So I guess the answer is no.

steve1977:

Just stereo pairing or also surround pairing?

As of now only stereo, since its only involve stereosource. I heard rumors that Eclipse and Harmony will get possibility to use devices on the Mozart platform as regular speaker. In a surround setup I assume.

Not sure. Lets see when Steve have tested Smile

Touch to join is not present on the Mozart platform.

No

Hi everyone,

Just to clarify that I updated my iOS devices to the latest app version in the Apple store and my Emerge is running software 1.6.24053

This may not be on general release yet, as further updates are still being rolled out.  It will go live across the "Mozart" speakers (Emerge, Level and Balance) in the coming weeks for stereo pairing within the B&O app.

Further details to follow once I can test two speakers in stereo...

Kind regards, Steve.

there is always an alternative!

Let one BS1 play the left channel and the other the right channel. Then just link both in NL.

Has anyone tried this out in the meantime and can share how the pairing works and how to “play to” the devices.

I’m very keen to know where B&O is going with this. When i look what others do:

1) Apple: Allows stereo pairing of its homepods. Streaming protocol is embedded in all apps running on IOS

2) Google: Allows stereo pairing of its google speakers and chromecast enabled devices. Streaming protocol is embedded in most apps on IOS and Android

3) Sonos: Allows stereo and surround pairing of its speakers. Streaming protocol is with its own APP, which includes radio and all major streaming services (spotify, deezer, apple music, etc)

Now, the big big Q is where B&O is heading now.

a) APP largely a config APP that allows speaker settings and pairing. But streaming will be via AP or CC. This would mean that a stereo pair could be played to via AP / CC

b) APP serves as streaming app and integrates music services (spotify, etc) in the future. Basically will turn into similar functionality as the sonos app. This seemed the original plan a few years ago

c) APP allows distribution via NL. Streaming primarily over AP, but APP allows distribution of stream to other B&O devices. Already works for AP today, but maybe also for CC streams in the future

Any thoughts or insights?

And one does that how, exactly?

(Or are you saying that this is how B&O *would/could/should* accomplish this?  I.e. for all ASE 2 gen devices, implement a new "balance" slider which, rather than manipulating sounds coming out of the speaker (BS1) / speakers (BS2), manipulates the incoming signal, e.g. for the BS1 so the stereo-to-mono mix-down is turned off?)

not possible

But a proposed alternative for older speakers
