Hey

i would like to connect a meolab 2000 to a beomaster 7000. Some say i need a beolink converter 1611 and connect it to AUX and powerlink --- other say i need ML/MCL converter 1651 which i can connect to SPEAKERS 2 MCL left and right. What shall i do?

By the way , i have this strange cable (on the right of the picture for the SPEAKERS 2 MCL left and right  http://www.beoworld.org/beotech/mcl/mcl2-p10.htm): what is that for??

I think you can do it either way, but the 1611 is probably easier and better (and cheaper). It operates at line-level. If you'd go for the ML/MCL converter the BM7000 amplifies the signal to speaker level and then the converter attenuates it to "line-level".

I'd definitely go for 1611 connected to AUX on BM7000 and then connect the 1611 to the BL2000 with an ML cable.

1651 ML/MCL converter is meant to connect a (newer) ML device like BS9000, BS4... to an existing MCL distribution with MCL boxes and passive speakers in link rooms. It has a built in amplifier.

You need a BL converter 1611 to make your BM7000 Masterlink compatible. BL2000 is an active link room system with Masterlink. You won`t need an extra amplifier.

No, PL is 8 pin cable for connecting Beolab speakers. You need an 7 pin datalink cable between 1611 and BM 7000.

Correct. In some constellations you will need a Powerlink cable from BM7000 to BL converter in addition to 7 pin Audio Aux Link cable.

It´s mainly to let a connected Masterlink videomaster detect whether the audiomaster (BM7000) is powered on or not.

I don`t think you will need it with a BL2000....(?)

No you don't. I had exactly this setup. Audio aux cable (7 pin) from BM to 1611, ML cable from 1611 to BL2000. Works perfectly.

Cool thanks for your answer

Does sb know about the 2 versions of the converter? Is there a difference as indicated?

"This requires the Converter to be of the newer type : 1161166. the older 1161466 is unable to perform this function."  http://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=983

I think you need the 1161166 version for this.
