Hi guys, finally managed to get both Beosound 9000 Mk3 and the BLC ML/NL in order to add BS 9000 as a CD source to my multiroom setup. Connection-wise, it's gonna be extremely simple: BS9000 connected just with MasterLink cable to the BLC ML/NL, and then BLC ML/NL connected with LAN UTP cable to my router.
After reading BLC ML/NL manual numerous times, and endless research here on the forum, I still couldn't find how should I set up the BLC ML/NL in order to be able to select the BS9000 in the B&O app and play CDs on multiroom speaker(s).
I acknowledge it should be fairly simple, but as I joined the B&O world only in "NL times", I have troubles understanding the "ML logic" in terms of sources, master/slave choice etc. If it is not too difficult to share a hint about how the setup of BLC ML/NL should look like I would be so very grateful.
With a masterlink network, you have only one audio master and one video master. All other products are source centres or slave devices in the old parlance. In your case the BS9000 is an audio master and the ml/nl converter will therefore most likely be set as a video master in order to request sources from the audio master and distribute them to the rest of the nl network. I say most likely because other options are possible, but in your case probably not the best option.
the details of the setup will be different if you choose to connect speakers to the converter rather than to the BS9000 (I.e if you have a IR eye connected to the converter) - the only reason I can think of to do that would be if you are using a BLGW/BLI and want to pass light and control commands as I don’t think the BS9000 has that capability.
Thank you, will try that tomorrow! And btw: no speakers will be connected to neither BS9000 nor BLC… …I do have Beoplay A9 and Beosound Stage on NL that I plan to use as speakers.
Beolab 28s Beolab 9s Beolab 12-3s Beolab 1s Beolab 6000s 2 pairs Beolab 4000s Beovision 7-55 Beovision 10-40 Beoplay V1 32 inch Beovision Avant 32 inch Beosound 1 (CD player) Beosound 3000 Beosound 5 Core Essence MKII Beoplay M5
An added complication is that you bs9000 will be in A.Opt 0 with no speakers connected so you may need an it eye for your blc? I believe there is a dummy plug available to fool the bs9000 into thinking speakers are connected
Hi, in my view there is no need for an extra IR eye. The CD source of the BS9000 will be made available in the NL system (experience mapped to NL) by the BLC, and CD related commands sent to the A9 or Stage will be translated to control the BS9000 by the BLC.
I would say that when you set the BLC to be an Audio Slave, you only map CD as an experience to NL. See page 14 of the BeoLink Converter NLML (ver 1.4) manual.
I do a similar thing with my BeoGram CD7000 (through BeoMaster 6500 and a BeoLink (MCL) converter) to get the CD playing on NL. All with help from kind people on the forum :-).
Hope you can get it working!
Regards,
Johan
Good point - I’m still in the mindset of connecting Ebola s to something! Ignore me!
Thank you all guys, this is so kind of you, I will send a "happy" message here once I get it to work (plays CDs).
Everything works thanks to your kind help. "Speakerless" BS 9000 connected to BLC streams in multiroom to BS Stage and Beoplay A9!
Next step: BLI and integration into Beoremote Halo.
Would you mind sharing your working setup? Mine is similar to yours, BS9000 Mk2 + BLC ML/NL + BL28 + BS2
I have tried the suggestions in this thread, but the B&O app keeps saying “play something on BeoSound9000 to add speakers to this group” (Beosound9000 is the name of th ML/NL)
Thanks

with every step: confirm settings
option 1 (I'm presuming the BS2 has this feature):
(if the BS2 has this feature) Now the BLC sources are visible as sources of the BS2. Start the BS9000 CD on the BS2 and JOIN them on the BL28.
option 2 (will/should work always)
Thanks a lot Carolpa. It works!!
I think I missed the radio and aux before, thinking that CD and N.Music was the only needed ones
Thanks Carolpa, I can confirm that option #1 works with the A9Mk2 too , but not with the Stage. So I think option #2 is actually a safer bet across the current product portfolio (as much as option #1 is WAAAAY cooler!)
Btw, I had my BLC in VMaster mode, didn't know it can be in ASlave too... so I am testing it now and apparently all works well.

I don't think you'll have a purpose for the N.Music command in your setup.

option 1 should work with the first generation NL devices (Core, Essence mkii, BS35, A6, BV11, .....and A9mk2). I expected also the BS2 but I wasn't sure.

As a matter of fact this is not a problem if you plan to start BS9000 playback through B&O app as Carolpa described couple of posts ago. Alternatively, Halo can do it too without a workaround needed.
Now, if you planned to use Beo 4 remote, then I can't help much (but I see others have some schematics provided already).
Carolpa: ASlave is/was intended for connecting one audio ML device without speakers connected to the ML audio device.

On a side note!
That is the ‘kind of device’ that people nowadays could use, when they want to integrate e.g. a BS9000 with their NL/Mozart devices.
A new box with just that option would be great…….and would make sense to ‘relaunch’.
If they would make it wireless, it would be even greater.
All other functions of the NL/ML Converter are (for the majority) obsolete.

In line what I proposed in another post.
MartinRK:Will there be a conflict between the Phono (N-Radio) command and e.g. TuneIn on a multi-room device? What is the correct A-option for the Beocenter when connected to the BLC?
What is the correct A-option for the Beocenter when connected to the BLC?
A option: I did place mine in option 0. but in principal other option will work. note: if in other option than 0 the Beocenter will receive remote commands and will behave accordingly with possible conflicts.
What if the BLC is away from the router......?
Any solution for this?
Or has the BLC always to be wired to the router?

Yes, it needs a cabled connection (which in any case always is better).
You might be able to use a PowerLine solution to get a wired connection or a wifi repeater with a network connection port.
Alternatively - maybe you could have a Masterlink cable from the installation to a location near the router?
