Hi Graham
In principle replacing an Avant with a BeoVision 7-40 should not have any issues assuming the option programming is correct.
You haven't given any further details such as if loudspeakers are involved and is so are they connected to the BeoCentre 9500 or the BeoVision7-40 if they are active speakers.
A bit more information will help with trying to diagnose the problem.

Thanks...The fact that I was changing telly and lost hifi sound suggested the tv was in the wrong option...but it has been a long time since I set everything up. Just can't remember the optioning thing

Beolab 8000, Beolab 6000, Beolab 2

No Idea why you ignored my helpful advice?

Set BC9500 to A.OPT 0, BV7 to V.OPT 2.
I`d set default SPEAKER modes to audio- 2, video-3. It`s in the SOUND menu of your BV7.
Now the phone should also be able to control the volume for video and audio.

Sorry Ralf...But your "helpful advice".?...To connect a converter, which is quite obviously connected,...and to read the masterlink manual. !!!..Stunning..!Thanks Stefan..that was all I neaded...Sorted now..Thanks again
Ralf,
I too have no idea why he ignored your advice. It was not obvious that the converter was connected - it was not mentioned!
Guy
How else could a BC9500 be connected to an Avant ?
Oh don't be silly. You're a newbie! Ralf told you what to read and it is now clear that you hadn't read it! Do you really expect to be lead by the hand ... ?
You didn't even thank him for trying to help!
Thanks for your support Guy.I appreciate it.
The answer from Graham just makes me sad.
I am thinking of leaving this forum in April (another year has to be paid for...), since I don't like the tone anymore.(see several thread on the general forum).
