Could anyone shed some light on where this part i'm holding in the photo goes on beomaster 1600 (1980s)

Don't know if its part of the beomaster 1600, i found it in the beomaster box, i think someone might have tried to service it  sometime  ago .

If it is part of the beomaster could anyone help out with some photos.

Regards all

marc

Yes, it goes on the clutch mech.
The three holes fit over the three white protruding tabs of the clutch operator arms.
This part releases the volume clutch when any of the trebele/bass/balance controls are pressed.
It's held in place by two round hairpin-like springs, one each end, and a more normal third spring keeps
it in a position of constant activating the volume control until one of the tonecontrol buttons are pressed.

The way you hold it in the photo is practically the same way it sits inside when the Beomaster is closed.

Martin your info is fab, if I get this sorted everything will be working order, Beomaster seems to have been boxed up for a very long time

I notice you have some sort of red tape holding adjustment wheel shaft to clutch shaft this seems to be doing a better job than the spring clip things on mine.

I think, the red thing is a piece of shrink tubing. Probably put there because the slotted end of
the black plastic wheel shaft broke off.
Not something I did.

Still seems a good idea.

Hi Martin

Got this part back on in place with spring and side clips but still none of the volume or settings will move when using slider, all belts move freely when pulled,

Are the belts Mabel to tight can they be adjusted.

Can you tell if the spring puts enough tension on the volume clutch ?
Does the volume clutch release when a tonecontrol button is pressed ?
Does the toncontrol clutches put enough tension on their respective clutches ?
In some cases, it can be necessary to put a piece of paper or plasticard or similar on
the head of the operating arms to compensate for wear.

The most common problem is the rubber clutch washers slipping.
They sit inside the see through clutch mechanism housing and they age and wear
and lose friction. Maybe you can tell if that is the problem ?
Reproduction rubber clutch washers are available (from me).

The rubber clutch washers seem to be slipping as you say, what to you mean by teel

also the tonecontrol clutches don't seem to have enough tension as you say

I bought a couple sets of Dillen's replacement clutch washers. They worked and restored full control to the Beomaster.
