Hi, does anyone know how I can connect my Sonos ZP90 to my BeoSystem 3???

Currently my Sonos ZP90 is connected to a beosound 3000 via Aux in using RCA's. This works fine, and is available via master link A.MEM and A.TAPE in my link rooms.

However, I want to change things around and use the BeoSystem 3 so I can utlise the Digital signal from the Sonos ZP90.

I have tried a number of ways to connect, but it would appear the BeoSystem only listed to the audio (RCA/Dig) when there is a video signal present. I have tried connecting via the various AV, both using Scart converters, RCA only, Digital only, combination of both, but it only listens to the audio when I put a video signal in from a video source. i.e. I put a static camera into the videon source, it plays the Sonos, so the signal is there.

I have tried this using the picture mute, and again it will not listen to audio only.

I'm not an engineer, so treat me gently, there must be a solution.....anyone up for it????

Many thanks

Hi there, I had this issue with Sonos and sent the info to B&O. I am very happy to say they fixed it in 3 days and issued a software release. Now woth the latest BSys3 software you just assign your Sonos to one of the 6 AV inputs (obviously the one you have plugged Sonos into the line input of) and the Sys3 can now play audio only sources with no need for a picture overlay.

That being said, I would personally continue using it via A.Aux on your 3000 - the difference in sound of Sonos connected digitally is, in my opinion, not worth changing for if any improvement at all (many people actually preferred the analogue connected sound when I did a listening test on some DAC's) and you losesome great features such as audio distribution via ML's audio channel, and being able to play sound over picture via AV on your BSys3.

Thanks Martin, this is very helpful. A couple of questions;

1. How do I upgrade the software on my beosystem 3 to get this software.

2. Re ml distribution, could I use both analog and digital input to AV6 to get digital off the main room using bs3 and analog via ml rooms?

Many thanks.

Hi 7corona - yes you ate absolutely right you can use digital and analogue audio on AV6 in that way - the BSys3 will play from the digital connection and use the analogue connection to distribute audio via ML.

The only way to upgrade the software that I am aware of is to get a dealer to come and connect a laptop to it and flash new software via their service tool. This would be available under warranty as it is a fix of a known issue.
