Not good. Could be a component failure if you are lucky but might be the tube, which may be why you were given it!!What are you attaching to it though? Do you get static if you select TV? Or is the screen just black?

Thanks for your response. There is no static when it turns on and I am simply using it as it - nothing attached -Just through the t.v aerial socket

Please advise !!

What kind of tv arial do you have - it must be an analog signal to see anything on the Avant.

Where are you located?

Do you get the menu on the screen, when you press 'menu'?

How about using the DVD drive - still nothing?

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Try and access the menu, I don't think the TV will show "noise", it just goes black without a signal. If it's the tube that is broken, it's an expensive fix and these usually end up as "landfill" at that point. Sad

Too long to list....
