All your spare parts to Søren? How generous!

Fortunately a woofer is kind of hard to blow with the Beomaster 4000 and M70 combination.

Rich you recommended Benny to me and as such I KNOW that your 4000 will come back superbly restored and in perfect condition.

None the less, when it returns, do tell us all how you like it!

Still the same old tape from 1976 with the Danish rock band Gasolin' Live Sådan!

The first official live concert with the latest hit the first recorded in Sweet Silence studios in Denmark just put on last and it back then it sold just as well. Great tactic by then CBS (Sony)label.

The tape itself had gone stuck but playing it with the Beocord 5500 has made it playable again and the sound is not that bad at all.

listening to 10cc In Concert .... recorded live in Santa Monica in 1975 and featuring the original 4 man line up.

the show was recorded by King Biscuit Flower Hour (a hippy play on King Biscuit Flour Co., an older influential blues radio show); a syndicate american radio show that ran from 1973 - 2007 and featured a different band playing live for approx' 1hr each week on Sunday night, this show was then broadcasted via 300+ US radio stations...

what I am enjoying is more and more of these "live gems" from different bands coming to light and where the band, management or record label would have not released originally for whatever reason but someone has taken the time to trawl the vaults and re-produce. For the likes of me always who is always a sucker for a live performance to show off the real musical talents including warts and all, such recordings are priceless as they .

the bluesy 12:07 minute rendition of Rubber Bullets is an utter joy..

Have been on a bit of a holiday from analog to work on the digital side of Casa de Rich.  After a recent computer upgrade I found myself with a spare so built an Amahi server for the family.  After some experimenting, I've become a Plex convert.  On my best Mac I've been ripping CDs to FLAC files and sending them to the server, while my pest PC in another room is converting DVDs and blu-rays to WMV files.  Been streaming 70s era Rolling Stones over some Beovox S45-2s most of the morning.  This undertaking has not been for the faint of heart.  Getting 2 Macs, 4 PCs, 5 iOS devices, and an Xbox 360 to all play nice with the same set of files on the same server has been fun.

Not.

"It's dead again, Jim!"

Last night I played the most warped new record I've ever seen, a red vinyl Jimmy Page LP called Burn Up.  Had never heard of it, but ran across it a few weeks ago when I noticed the vinyl selection at the local Barnes and Noble had grown to cover almost a hundred square feet.

Anyway, I'd give the performance a 3 out of 5 stars, for completists only.

I'd give my RX 2 with MMC4 5 out of 5 stars for tracking that warped SOB perfectly.

Just an hour ago I listened to ...

The choir was small, about 18 people, but filled the church with ppp to FFF.

Kurt Thomas composed this mass at the age of 19. I recommend it for serious listening. But the tonmeister of any recording has quite a few things to do regarding the dynamics and the spacing. I didn't find a recording at iTunes yet.

Das Jahr: It was composed in 1941 describing idyllic scenes of rural life from Jan to Dec, with naming of quite a few saints of the year, subtle humour. But it was quite subversive im Deutschen Reich of 1941 ...

Having not bought a CD in years, i tried one in our beovision 7-55 playing through our 9's. What a difference in quality.

So I bought a small collection to keep up the experiment. Any more suggestions?

And it was one of the first two CDs I bought in 1985 (the other one was Internationalists by Style Council, I believe). I still remember what a revelation it was even though the rest of my system - speakers in particular - were nothing special back then.

Playing it now, the first thing you notice is that the general loudness is quite low compared to current masterings (no surprise).

And if you like Dire Straits, you'll want Love Over Gold as well. It's an AAD mastering - while it still sounds wonderful, it's interesting to compare it to Brothers in Arms, as you can hear the master tape hiss come and go in the quiet passages.

I'm streaming Complete Clapton FLAC rips across the house's LAN from my server to my Hackintosh via Plex to the bedroom where the S45-2s reside on my desk.  I love these things.  Really wish I had a good room for them with some decent stands.

Sigh.

Next house.

While I generally stay away from Audio Snake Oil, I do like these rubber-cork-rubber sandwiches under just about anything.

I can also recommend Gruv Glide now that I've tried it.

Rich,

I realize that you use those pads to damped vibration, but I gotta tell ya, I am a bit confused.

Why confused? Well when I first acquired a new Beogram 4002 I placed it (out of temporary necessity) on top of a McIntosh ML-2 speaker with no vibration issues.

All Beograms now reside in more reasonable locations vis-à-vis proximity to vibration, but I do not recall even the slightest issue of vibration being picked up through the cartridge. Maybe I missed something, but don’t really think so…. I tend to be pretty picky.

Also if what must be considered as an excuse for my memory, I do vaguely recall the B&O dealer deliberately placing the 4002 on top of the big McIntosh speaker for a comparison to my existing Dual turntable.

Admittedly the ridiculous placement was a stunt, but it wowed me sufficiently that I purchased the 4002 on the spot.

The 4002 remained on the speaker for months until I could have my McIntosh cabinet refitted to accommodate the 4002. (I couldn’t place it on the cabinet as all the equipment was under the top which had to be opened.)

In any case, I admire your efforts with the feet pads. Big Smile

Not exactly correct.  There are many reasons:  decouple from rack, lift in the air for ease of connections, increased air flow around equipment, etc.  Those pads are under everything, not just the table.

I'm listening to the Beolab 18 playlist

I'm listening to it on the iPad to via AirPlay to the Apple TV which is plugged into the avant with the avant sending it to my Beolab 18 wisa

I'm not sure if this is as good as using the Spotify app in the avant. I have it up quite loud.

The Game of Love by Daft Punk is my favourite song with the Beolab 18 speakers

I have set them up to a music speaker group and although they are at the rear of the room I have them setup as front right and left and I'm facing the speakers.

Great song. In fact that's always been my first go to song when auditioning speakers.

Congratulations on the 18s, they look superb and I'm sure they sound even better :-)
