Listening to some of the iTunes Festival performances via the ATV, and with today's (over night) upgrade the iCloud music interface has changed and I can now browse the iTunes music store on the TV ...
So when I found someone I liked in the festival I hoped over to the store, searched for them, found them, listened to a range of different records and bought the occasional track. I also followed the "Other listeners bought ..." links and discovered other interesting artists.
Somehow it was more relaxing and laid back that using a laptop to do exactly the same thing (OK the sound quality from the BeoLab 3s supported by a BL11 makes a difference!)
But why or why would Apple not have built a direct link from the iTunes Festival line up to the store .......

Concerts make for really good study tunes just in case any of you also have midterms coming up.

I was watching an Australian film the other night called Unfinished Sky. In the film there is a song called "Throw Your Arms Around Me" by the group Hunters and Collectors. I was so taken with the song I ordered a copy of the album it is on, Human Frailty. I had never heard of the group before but what a great find and a completely underrated (overused term) Australian band. The song "throw Your Arms Around Me" is a ballad but these guys can rock as well or do what some people call music that is trible punk. The album is from 1987 if I recall and not sure why these guys didn't get more air play in the states.

Back in my day for study, it was usually a Pink Floyd LP taped on a Maxell XLII cassette listened to on a Toshiba Walkman-type portable.

The British band we Americans missed the boat on was the Screaming Blue Messiahs. Then again, we weren't quite ready for The Clash either.

Spending Saturday & Sunday test driving a loan vehicle from a dealer (thanks Lars, and guys there's a hint for the brand ...) which is turning out to be my first experience with a bluetooth enabled car and I am thoroughly enjoying listening to what is on my iPhone through good speakers
... not great B&Os sadly, but I said somewhere else, I did do a test of the showroom A3 and its B&O speakers and I wasn't excited - and I can't afford an A7 with acoustic lenses that rise from the dash
Anyway, most of yesterday was Karen Sousa ... better take some classic CDs today !

I'm going to build a bespoke stand for the 1202. I'll turn my room into a museum while I prepare for its overhaul.

I bought a sealed copy of LP by the Everly Brothers from 1986 called Born Yesterday. Really nice album and was as quiet as any vinyl I have ever played. Only problem is that it had a warp so bad it hit the arm of my Beogram 8000 at the end of side two. Really nice record and the Born Yesterday title was a really nice cut but the only one written by the brothers. How is it that so many artists as they age become so under appreciated even though still making great music. I guess those 13 year old girls I have been told buy most of the music just aren't into music by older guys.
Currently listening to a mix TAPE on BC4500 in the bedroom with modded S40's.
I'm telling you, these S40's are sweet. Many, many moons ago I put together a 2-way with an 8" woofer and 1" dome tweeter. I think that configuration may be a "sweet spot" compromise of extended frequency response and simplicity.
Just got Heaven on Earth with Belinda Carlisle in the door, of course it went into the Beosond 3000 with the famous BL 8000 connected, just wonderfull, very good quality CDs, after that I changed it to the stack BL 5000 pizzaboxes, conected to Bvox P45 hanging directly on the wall. I must say: "Heaven is a place on earth" listening to both systems, the 8000 more clear in the highs, a clear and defined bass, the P45s missing a little in the highs and the bass a little more boomy, but both systems a joy to listen to. Put the DVD in my LG player, there is a concert from the late 80ies on it, Belinda uses a lot of vibrato in that one, maybe to compensate for her getting older voice, not anymore the fresh young voice you hear on the Cds,
Well, the BL 8000s, year 2002, still do good, without wood fence, wonder what Geoff Martin did to trim it all when they gave him that design.

Absolutely GOD-AWFUL, unforgivable actually. If Moses had heard this CD there would be another commandment…. And I am NOT kidding!
I rather imagine the original vinyl recording was amazing, but this CD is anemic and utterly forgettable.

I have until now never had a bad Deutsche Grammophon CD, but maybe they are following the trend and using bad digital masters for their CDs, even some remastered vinyl are made from digital masters. Latest CD from Emeli Sande is goddam awful, the MP3 file even worse. She has a good voice and good song material, but the recording is so bad that even when tweaking the sound it stays awful.
Only thing to do is listen before buying, or at least, if buying online, listen to the MP 3 file, before buying.

Rich, glad to see your post on Lou Reed. Unfortunately I thought the only band worth listening to in the mid to late 60's were the Beatles. I was not alone on not appreciating the Velvet Underground at the time and have made up for it in years past. There is a great memorial to Reed at the Spin website by Robert Christgau who was not a fawning fan but really comes up with quite a bit of respect for the man and creates a touching tribute. Back in the late 80s Rolling Stone magazine did a "100 best albums of the past 25 years" feature to commemorate their 25th anniversary. I typed (yes, typed, on a typewriter) out that list and carried it with me when I went to record stores (new and used). It was my goal to one day own all 100 of those albums. I came to own The Velvet Underground and Nico due to that list and I still have that LP 25+ years later.
I admit to not having listened to any Lou Reed or VU in a long time. I enjoyed it. So many records, so little time.
Rich you said "so many records, so little time" which really hits the nail on the head. I have a Japanese friend who told me he no longer buys any new music because he cannot listen to and appreciate what he has. I realize I buy music almost as an addiction and do not really get to listen to it carefully or repeatedly enough.
Not only should I be thinking about what is playing right now but what is worth playing right now.
