Came home after 12 hours deep into a printing m/c., and 1 hour in Mex city traffic, my wife had just started Diana Krall, on the Beosound 3000 with the Beolabs 8000 MK 1, (no tin cans on the top, no kindling sticks on the front). As I called a little before arrival, my cuba was ready, well mixed, so I just dropped down in the relax chair and enjoyed, Beautiful voice and piano. It cant get better after a hard days work.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

She does an excellent rendition of Joni Mitchell's 'A Case of You'.  But I prefer Joni's, because it's deeper.  Much deeper.

Well I am listening to Barb Jungr on the 6Ks ... Lovely, but I shall switch to your recommendation

Listening path =

MacMini - Mavricks - iTunes ALAC (purchased from LINN) - BM-Link - BeoPort - master link - beo link wireless 1 transmitter - receiver - Beolab 6000s

And it works !

Just slipped across from Barb Jungr to Youn Sun Nah and now Anne Ducros ... Can't believe the bass I am hearing right now ("Sitting On the Dock of the Bay") ! But I will get to A Case ... As soon as Sophie Milman is finished with "La Vie En Rose" !!

Well your YouTube link is blocked in this jurisdiction by Sony ... And my Joni Mitchell collection did not include "a Case of You" so I did two quick purchases as I was not sure if you were referring to the "Blue" album recording, 4:25m rated highly on iTunes, or the "Both Sides Now" recording (5:52) rated less highly.

So ... of the five / four versions I have I would rate them follows ... From least to most:

5. Mitchell's "Blue" album

4. Dawn Langstroth's "Highwire" album

3. & 2. Krall's "Live in Paris" / "A Night in Paris [Live]

1. Joni's "Both Sides Now"

Call me confused 😳

Listening to ESPN on AM radio.  None of my B&O receivers (1900, 2400, 4000) have AM.  Can anyone recommend a Beomaster with AM?

The pizza box receivers (BM5000-7000) all have MW, if you are interested in something more modern. The older BM2000 would be a great choice and has LW as well.

Listening to Jazzradio.com playijng from my netbook, to my Beomaster 900 ( that btw have AM ) that lives on my kitchen table, that have leftover tools and things from last nights M75 work

Jazzradio.com have auwful dynamix processing as most radio stations , but its the only channel network I know that have a broad selection of radio stations in style of Jazz

My Beomaster needs lampbulb replacements AGAIN, have ordered some leds form China to test.

My re-capped M75 are my precious diamonds.

I guess I have to make the pizza box plunge.  (Which reminds me, I still have to off load that CD50 to someone who needs parts.)

Whilst watching YouTube videos studying, I recognized a tune in the background of a commercial that reminded me of a great Pixies song ('Where is my mind'). Anyway, after a short amount of sleuthing I discovered Maxence Cyrin, a brilliant pianist.

Have a happy, piano-filled evening. Yes - thumbs up

Last night I dipped into the Apple TV's "Trailers" section and spotted Idris Elba as Mandela - a movie coming next year.

Idris is not as correctly cast as Morgan Freeman was in "Invicticus" - but the new movie starts with Mandela as the young lawyer and agent provocateur.

But I digress, as this thread is not about WATCHING but rather LISTENING Smile

Suffice to say snippets of the movie's soundtrack caused me to regress to my African roots and I ended up playing a collation of:

  • David Fanshawe's "African Sanctus"
  • Soweto Quartet's "Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika"
  • Ipi Tombi - "The Warrior"
  • Miriam Makeba - "Pata Pata" and "The Click Song", and of course ....

A Danish classic! Gas 2 the second album out of 7 offiical studio recordings they did.

Beocord 5500 connected to Beosystem 6500 with Beovox S120.

A '70s reproduction but the sound is not bad. Gasolin tapes are more hardcore collection than anything else.

A playlist of all 300+ Christmas songs ripped from my CD collection on iTunes playing in random repeat. My family is so "thrilled" with me for this attempt to promote Christmas spirit weather they like it or not. Secretly, I think they see it as a holiday tradition they enjoy even if they roll their eyes at the beautiful sounds. I mean Bing singing "White Christmas" followed by Elmo and Patsy singing "Grandma got run over by a reindeer"? Surely the stuff of dreams, right?

Interesting to note, there is no mention on the cover that this is Bing Crosby. Back in the fifties such was his star recognition power. Merry Christmas indeed.

Went through my tags on the Shazam app today also,

Fitz and The Tantrums - Out of My League

Washed Out - Feel It All Around

Penguin Prison - Don't F*** With My Money

These songs passed the "weed-out" round and survived to make it to the CD acquisition list.

passion / paSHən / noun

It is more than just enthusiasm or excitement, passion is ambition that is materialized into action to put as much heart, mind body and soul into something as is possible.

Try to catch the Woodstock clip of Joe Cocker playing that ... with passion :-)

Yesterday I got a late Xmas present, my nephew and his wife brought me 2 nice LPs, one of these brought back memories from my youth, a well smoked cellar room in Horsens DK, lots of beer and rock and roll, this around 1964/5, and somehow we always got back to him, Jerry Lee Lewis.

When the room got too crowded, we opened the door to the garden and, to much joy for the neighbors, gave the 2 x 10 W it all, and danced on the lawn.

They also brought me an old country and western pioneer, a real C&W softie, a little before my time, but a nice recording, original was mono, reprocessed to stereo. Both records in mint condition, the sleeves with only very little signs of use. May every day in this year be like Xmas

Samba 5000, BTW after 6 month use of these inner sleeves, thanks to Rich, I can confirm that they work as promised, much less static, nearly no dust on the records. The old paper sleeves (and some newer ones) leaves paper particles and dust on the records, and the record comes out loaded with static electricity. I will order 2 more packets of these. I change the inner sleeve even on new records, if the inner sleeve contains prints about the record I keep it in the outer sleeve beside the new sleeve. For 50 cents per record it saves you a lot of cleaning.

Whats playing right now, I am preparing to say goodby to my BM 2404, my son wants one for his BM 1900, P45s, he will get the SMMC4 with it, the younger generation seams to like the brighter sound. So I will go looking for another one for myself. Was checking i DK but the prices there has gone up lately.

Hi Søren,

I have been using the plastic sleeves for decades and they are well worth the price of admission. Peaches Records of Atlanta sold them and I purchased enough for my entire collection and like you, if the paper sleeve was interesting, I kept it, in addition to the plastic sleeve.

As for replacing your BG 2404, your loyalty to the motherland while commendable comes with unwarranted shipping costs. May I suggest the United States as a more reasonable search arena?

Then, considering your many, many years of hard work isn’t it time for a proper Beogram? Either a fine Beogram 4002 or 4004….. or failing that a Beogram 8000 or 8002.

Personally, I think you deserve it royally!

A proper BG ? I consider my BG 5000 (pizza box) a very proper Beogram, The best playing a have until today, My TX2 does not come up to it, anyway, after I find a BG 2404 again, the 4002 or 4 are in the future plan, and after that, a BM 8000 and then comes the direct drive Bgs. But as I have been lazy, last year, I have a lot to do in my stock, so the buys has to wait until my items to do are up and running.

Shipping from DK is not in the plan, we bring it with us when we go there, my son like to come back here once in a while, and we (Sylvia and I) like to go more often than we have the last 3 years. In Juli I can burn my mortgage and then we have a little more economic freedom.

Hello Søren,

Considering that I have never so much as seen a Beogram 5000 let alone heard one playing I must defer my comment in favour of your hands-on judgment.

My only thought was it would be nice to have one of the handsome 4000 series Beograms and/or the sophisticated 8000 series.

Whatever your choice, I am sure it will be a good one. ¡Via con Dios!
