Just starting to listen to a series of 5CDs: The Pierre Dørge & New Jungle Orchestra, 'The Olufsen Years 1988-1994'.
I had seen this collection before, but at ridiculous prices. Suddenly found it on offer (new) from Amazon.eu/ co.uk for £22 inc a free MP3 download.
CD's are a 30th anniversary release by Steeplechase. It seems that Dørge started out with Steeplechase and switched to The Olufsen label only to switch back some years later with the master recordings, reissued now as CD's. Unless anyone can tell me otherwise, I think the Olufsen label is a separate niche record company started by a Peter Olufsen, and has no direct connection with B&O.
The music is a very varied mix of styles of Danish jazz reflecting the development of the orchestra. Some live, mostly studio. I suspect that once I have listened right through I will re-arrange some of the content after downloading the CD's onto the Brennan.

Just looked at Amazon.co.uk again and it's gone back up to £55.35. My purchase was direct from Amazon Eu, and the current £55.35 offer is from the same part of Amazon. I have no idea how they do their pricing, unless they offer a first copy at a low price in the hope of a buyer posting a good review.
Went this morning to my specialized record store, they did not have: 'The Olufsen Years 1988-1994' in stock. I ordered, will see how much it cost me.
I brought another fine cd back home for 54,50 euro, a Japan release XRCD. I wil have a listen to it this evening... Malta, Manhattan in Blue

Brothers in Arms was one of the first two CDs I ever bought, back in 1985. I always thought it was a great recoding as it was - would be interesting to compare, but I'm not going to pay for it again

Then you have probably the WG Vertigo (824499-2) which I believe is the original mastering. The best sounding Redbook CD!

Still it is a redbook cd - i guess the 'normal' cd will sound exactly the same...

I'm not going to argue with you, but you really should listen carefully to the Brothers in Arms 1985 WG Vertigo disc and later versions, including SACD and reissued versions. Maybe you find big differences.
remastered Led Zeppelin I, II and III.
I did not found the time to compare them to the original records but they sound excellent in my view !!!!

With the effort they had with the recording, and the fact that nothing was after-processed, no artificial reverberation, no equalizing, the sound must be very good.
It is amazing what we could have with Redbook standard CD's, if the industry would only let us.
In fact I got interested and curious too.
But this is the kind of stuff, that you don't find by WiMP HiFi (or Spotify).
I looked it up on Amazon and co - but did only find those ridiculous high priced CD's (the XRCD's), and gave it up.
In stead I popped in my Albert Lee/Tearing it up - Blu Ray Disc.
They did an amazing job at AIX-records recording and mastering this.

And the music - if you like that sort of music - is splendid.
Just got a new replacement gumstick battery for my old Sony mz NF810 minidisc one of the last recorders before hi md came out in 2003.
The sound compared to downloaded mp3 files and so forth is pretty awesome.
I prefer this instead of using my latest Sony Ericsson Xperia Z2.
At home a Beolink 1000 does the trick well enough. No need for downloading any thing.
What is a rebook CD? I've never heard of that term before.

Anyway, looking forward to my reissue of Led Zeppelin I LP coming in the mail. In the meantime, listening to Traffic's Mr. Fantasy. Probably segue straight into The Low Spark of High Healed Boys afterward.
Listening to the Black Keys Turn Blue right now, just picked up the LP sounds great so far, a little disappointed they spent the money on including a CD instead of opting for 180 gram and just a download code (a CD is useless for me, I don't have a CD player, nor a CD slot on my laptop). Great album though, reminds me a little bit of broken bells latest.
I was lucky enough to "borrow" all of my parents old original zeppelin albums, I have a pretty pristine copy of I myself. Is the reissue a remaster or just a repressing?
they are remastered supervised by Jimmy Page who found the first CD's dull... (maybe marketing). I bought the new cd's to compare them with original records (I have them too ;)) but did not found the time yet.
That would be a good idea to compare original and new records too (to see if this remastering is real or just marketing...).
In my personal view, the new CD's are excellent !!!!!!
Since I use "iTunes Match" it is logical for me to use "iTunes Radio", here is my most recent "station" and its "seed track" - unfortunately whiles the "Apple TV" display shows a "cover flow" view of what has played this screen show of my iTunes does not ...

I've pre-listened to the album in iTunes, this is probably the MCA IMP 11862 (1996) reissue. I have the SACD 2010 Analogue Productions CIPJ 4 SA in stereo but it's missing track 6: 'Sister Sadie'. What was in the 1996 reissue as a bonus track.
My AP SACD edition sounds very good, you can clearly place all the instruments, Rudy Van Gelder as a recording engineer did for sure his part with the mikes. To me it looks AP used also the best available source since the master no longer exists.
However, the 1996 MCA-CD remains sound-wise the best release for me. Now I'm waiting for the announced and long-awaited iTunes Hi-Res before I buy it in their store.
If you love Jazz, Gil Evans made a masterpiece with this Out of The Cool.

Led Zeppelin I LP reissue played quite loudly on the BG4002 -> M70 system yesterday (Happy Father's Day to me!). A fine version, but I'll have to listen to the CD again to see if anything seems different.

Great opening ! It starts swirling, you feel Evans' earlier collaborations with Miles.

The price is really good at €15 for 4h of music. For comparison, the same set at Highresaudio cost €35. At this price this box is a must have for any jazz lover.

It is really good news that all your “new” Beomaster 1000 needed was a good cleaning and adjustment. Colour me impressed and very happy for you!
I may have my BM 1000 repaired at a local shop that fixed my JVC VCR and Sony WM D6C. They are currently bearvering away on my Tandberg 9000X…. and I am still in shock on how much they found wrong with it so far. (I missed most of the cruddy connections and debris rendering the auto-stop useless.
The man doing the repair is very nice but intimidated by the Tandberg. He has cleaned the pots and the sliders, but in 3 weeks has not found the courage to remove the main circuit board. Oh he will, but this is gonna take awhile. But if he fixes the Tandberg, I’ll give him the BM 1000, which should be a walk in the park next to the reel-to-reel.

I found the remastered version of an old classic Deep Purple Machine Head.
Only one loose cd of once was a double disc. I know I treated my cd collection like hell in the past.
Anyway the CD6500 plays it without trouble or skipping. Of course it sounds awesome!

There are those CDs when they are past, you find yourself wondering, "Do I have turned on him or not?"
On this cold, rainy and windy summer day, I thought this could cheer me up a bit. Listening now to this new album from Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters on Qobuz HiFi.
Diane Blue's jazzy voice fits the instrumentals. Delicious layback this lady sings. But nowhere you hear the ferocity of the last CD of 2013 "Just For Today".
In knowing the musicians could do so much better, I find this a CD for the Ronnie Earl collectors keeping their collection complete.
Oh well, I did not opened my wallet... that's the advantage of using Qobuz, but Diane her voice made me smile...
John Fogerty wrote a song for everyone cd.
Been playing this a lot , great reworking of his songs with some fine musicians, and to top it off really good production.
Its all about the music.
