I spent some time reading about the new, long waited beosystem 4 ,and I have some questions .
How do I install a beosystem 4 a av rack ,screen and projector ?
I think we need to build double walls in the apartment just to pull cables,I do not want to be negative but I do not see how .
cables for :screen,projector,beolabs, beosound5 etc.
I did not see anywhere on their website of 4k ?
Hi claudio,
please consult a dealer - let him show you the 72-sided 'installation Guide' for the BSys4.
And bring a plan of the house/the rooms with you.
The BSys4 is 'made for' costum installation.
There are lots of different solutions for these kind of installations. They can be rather complicated if you want a complete hidden installation.
N.B. Of cource you can use the BSys4 with a BV12 a BV4/a non-B&O tv/a projector - hidden in a cupboard nearby too.
No mentioning of 4K - don't expect 4K support!
Greetings Millemissen
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Hi Räuber,
we still don't really know what the 'new engine" is capable of!
For the moment 4K is not an actual theme for B&O - imo.
But 4K is surely - for some highend BV - to come later.
Imagine a car manufacturer presenting a new car model today - saying "don't buy this one, in a couple of years we will present a much better one" - that won't work.
And I wonder how many of us would be able to afford a BV say 80" 4K if it actually came in a couple of months?
Bang and Olufsen has partnered with 2 companies for beoliving (SIM2 and JVC)
and both the companies have 4k projectors on sale now
I don't millemissen.
Millemissen:Hi Räuber, Imagine a car manufacturer presenting a new car model today - saying "don't buy this one, in a couple of years we will present a much better one" - that won't work.
Not interested to buy tv monsters of 80" up ,are currently satisfied with watching 1080p BeoVision 9 daily.
I just want to get 4k in beoliving, and I think many would be interested in this if it could change beosystem 3 (BeoVision 4,9,7,) to beosystem 4 if it has support for 4k projector
as we talked about in the past, it will take many years here in DK when you can watch tv channels in 4k tv
but now you can see movies 4 k

I think that will be a blast of 4k TV on the market with the transmission of football, world-Cup in Brazil in 2014

Movies in 4K. Yes in the cinemas - please tell me how you attend to see them at home.
4K/football2014/blast on 4K tv : exactly the same as they said about 3D.
Seems that some people are chasing new technologies for the sake of the technology - as does the big technology companies.
Always having a 'new' device for people to buy seems more important, than making things that just works (e.g. one remote for ALL).
I prefer everyday solutions - and I am still impressed when I see Beoliving demoed with 'normal' FullHD content.
Sure, 4K will come. But don't hurry - 'till then a BSys4 will be doing fine.
There is no 'partnership' with SIM2 and JVC - B&O has been recommending and supporting some of their projectors for years.
The 4K projector versions doesn't change anything in this matter.
A 4K support right away would be fine - nothing against that - but I don't think that will happen.
And I doubt that we - or should I say enough B&O costumers - really will need it for the next couple of years.
Most B&O costumers haven't even started watching Bluray content on their BV's.
My 2 cents!
Millemissen: Movies in 4K. Yes in the cinemas - please tell me how you attend to see them at home.
I think they are nuts launching this without 4K support.
Architects, Custom installers, electricians etc can be very anti B&O when specifying equipment and advising clients.
If people think it's relevant or not is not the issue, fact is people are speccing and expecting 4K to drive their 4K projectors, and 4K TVs from Sony, LG, Samsung etc. A device that doesn't support 4k will just be crossed off most people lists without any further investigation, and to launch a new product now which is designed to drive projectors but which won't support the top end 4K models (which aren't exactly new) reinforces peoples belief that the brand is style over substance.
It's a shame, as the sound processing functionality looks very goos and the price is reasonable compared to other manufacturers.
Another case of "nearly" launching a brilliant product but crippling it from day one.
4K gaming will take off this Christmas with the PS4 and whether you think people will benefit or not, it's the latest box that people will be looking to tick when they specify new equipment. To not have it is stupid.
As some have noted there isn't any "4k" material available for home use, there isn't even an standard to begin with.
There's no way of transferring "4K", HDMI 1.4 doesn't support it?
Sony has a 4K projector for sale for consumers, yet no way of transferring native 4K to it?
Not to mention that there hasn't been set a standard for "4k" for the home market, there it's even a resolution specified for home use over 1080p.
Will it be 3840x2160 or 4096x2160, note that there is a difference in aspect ratios between them.
The Olympic games in Barcelona 1992 where transmitted in HDTV, did anybody have the possibility to receive them and show them home... no..
We are still a long way away from a standard regarding "4k"

Hi rednik,
you will just have to swap the BeoSystem's when - ad if - 4K has arrived. That is how a cinema solution from B&O is intended.
Maybe the projector too, but the cabling remains the same (if done proper).
Shouldn't be a problem.

Tomas: We are still a long way away from a standard regarding "4k"
In a couple of years, when we will have '3D without glasses' versions of tv's and projectors, a 4K resolution will be usefull.
The 4K tv's from Samsung, Sony... in 65"/55" that will soon arrive, are only made to boost sales of new tv's.
The content - Tomas already wrote it - is far away from being avaible for the majority of the viewers.
And we are still waiting for the 'right HDMI version' (or something aimilar) for connecting the devices.

My point is people won't even get as far as looking into it in that much detail. To most people it doesn't matter if there will be content or if there is a standard as long as other manufacturers are offering 4K support B&O will be perceived to be behind.
Unfortunately people start their selection of products with a check list and these days 4k will be on it. Products not listing it as a feature set will be disregarded. I'm not saying it's right and I agree with the points about it not being mainstream for a long time, but's it's the way people are.
I don't know what percentage of BeoVision 11 owners use the 3D and Smart features but I'd guess it's not all of them. I also guess a lot of them wouldn't have purchased if they couldn't tick the 3D and Smart boxes on the product sheet, regardless of if they will ever use it.
It sucks but it's the way of the world. If you've just spent £25k on one of these and you walk into a B&O store looking for surround speakers and processor, chances are you will walk out having purchased nothing.

B&O can't please everybody!
Millemissen: B&O can't please everybody! MM
I think they could. The BeoSystem 4 looks to be a very good product in every other way, I have no issue with an external splitter to drive more than one screen as it's a rarely utilised function anyway and there is a planned and supported solution.
In this day and age when all other manufacturers are launching high end receivers that support 4k I believe they would have been better to hold off delay launch of the product.
Statements like "just replace the beosystem 4 when 4k is available" are typical of what we have had from B&O dealers for the last 10 years. It's as if the see a few thousand pounds of a customers money as nothing and expect them to be happy getting a couple of years use out of something which is then worth nothing.
No one expects them to future proof everything as it's impossible, but people are buying 4K kit now and looking for it. I doubt there are many cinemas going in houses at the 50k+ in 2013 point that don't support 4K. Good luck to the dealers trying to shift this without it when every competitive quote the clients will be getting will offer 4k support
Damn them B&O 💩
Grrr! Millemissen 😉

Had a quick look at the user guide. Looks like the PUC table will include control of other screens. Seems like a good feature that will allow for easy integration with screens from other manufacturers.

And the BV12-65! Buy this in Q4 and it's not a TV your dealer will take back as a trade-in. My dealer told me they wouldn't consider taking back a BV12 when I considered buying one last year.
A BV12 purchase would be a major long-term commitment for me.
For anyone with a Beosystem 3, who wishes to have 4K capability, would the £400 DVDO Quick 6 HDMI Switcher not be a relatively cheap solution?

TerryM: For anyone with a Beosystem 3, who wishes to have 4K capability, would the £400 DVDO Quick 6 HDMI Switcher not be a relatively cheap solution?
Hi Terry,
it is a switcher and supports 4K, but you will need a 4K source and a 4K display/projector anyway.
It does not do magic!
But it seems to be a fine switch - would be great on a BV10/bv8-40 MK1....if B&O would mahe a PUC solution for it.
Raeuber:What's about an optional harddisk for recordings. It is mentioned in specs of BV12, but not in manuals of BV12 or BS4. Is harddisk built in BV12 or BS4? Will simualtaneous recording and viewing be possible? BS4 has only one SAT connection, BV11 has two!? /Räuber

These are good questions!
I wish I had the answers
But we will probably soon learn as the launch is near.
There be only single tuner for bsys4 and no recording option or hardisk
And reason for that is that b&o see beosystem 4 as a technical room product and there are many external boxes on market that can easy
be added in setup
/Tompa
I think he might be right.
But the specs don't have to be wrong in case of the BV12.
We will have to wait and see....
The optional harddisk comes with an extra DVB-tuner inclusing satelite. Probably the same feature as a BV11. If this is right, the harddisk has to be in the BS4. The BV12 is just a plain monitor.

There are not going to be any option with Twin tuner and harddisk ! only single tuner and no harddisk (heard it from good sources=b&o)
And bv11 have only that option from factory there are not possible to get it afterwards
Is it only 7.1 with the new beosystem 4?
i realy want a center with more power but i do want the bv11-55 too with 11.1 :-)
"Is it only 7.1..... I do want....11.1"

What's happened to Timer Play? One of the features I use most on my Beosystem 3. Wonder why its gone?
m4spm:What's happened to Timer Play? One of the features I use most on my Beosystem 3. Wonder why its gone?
I guess that would only switch 1 room on though. My Timer Play switches everything on (and off) throughout the house
