Hi Leslie,
Well, maybe this will be my only chance to learn something to the biggest collector of b&o in the world :)
Is it a direct connection for a beomic, like a bm5 or 6 ?

I don't know Olivier, it looks original, no hanky panky inside...
Connection for an external IR transceiver.

I read 'Line In/Out'.
Is there a physical connection behind?
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Good question.
I have 3 BM6500 so far they all had one and I have never touched it.
However line out and in ??? Maybe external for an Iphone connection?
It reminds of my BM6000 ('80s) also a plug but a dummy that must be there.
It's meant to for the use of an equalizer.
Direct LINE OUT which bypasses the internal EQ.
Beobuddy: It's meant to for the use of an equalizer.
If you mean the white plug, you are correct.
It was originally for use with an equaliser which would bypass the on board tone controls.
It serves to join line out to line in and is vital to the use of the Beomaster. Without it you will get no sound at all!
If you get a non-functioning Beomaster, first check that the white plug is present. It will save much time and embarassment!!
Been there and done that.
If you mean the flying lead/socket then I have no idea.

See my post above.
(to all others: I'm sure Leslie is referring to the connector on the right, cut off from view unless you open the picture as he says.)
The plug on the fly lead to the right was an 'optional accessory' for an external ir receiver for instances such as when the 6500 was hidden in a cupboard.
Best,
Paul
Leslie ,
connector for external ir-eye .
The external-bi/dir-eye was an official option , but i never managed to get the proper way to connect it .
Can you please make some pictures of the connections to the processor board .
And there should be one lead going to + power as well .
If you can give me some help maybe i can make mine working too.
nitro2
B&O , ......and some more
Can't be difficult to get that working.
But you have to be sure that you have a working ir-receiver which is properly connected on it's own board and then attached the right way.
Thank you all guys and as Mika mentioned and Graham noticed, the picture has to be fully opened to see the flying lead at the right side of the Beomaster. That was the thing I was talking about.
Maybe an ir will work, but isn't it the connection to the AV7000 Dolby prologic decoder? To my opinion this is the way to connect this device!
Wow, really? I have a AV7000 surround receiver but what's the use connecting BM6500 to AV7000?
I definitely don't think it's for connecting a AV7000! The AV7000 is connected to a BeoMaster/BeoCenter via AUX and PowerLink, if I've understood the user manual correctly:
If you look at the pin layout on the plug it does not match either power link or tape/aux plugs. I am sure it would match the external IR receiver used on the VX 5000. This was for placing the system in a cabinet where it would not be seen. That is why it was a option.
Hi. This is for the ir transmitter/sensor 8087018. Used if you place your bm inside a cupboard or behind Glass Doors.

Hmm, I think I must have one of those in my closet....

I have one of those external IR receivers for the VX5000 - and it has a Mini Jack plug...
Yes the VX eye used a mini plug. However the MCL 2 eye used this plug. The VX eye lacked the timer function and the LEDs that told you the link or timer was active that this plug supported.

Wow - Dillen is the man
Very interesting topic as I have a related question.
The plain external IR sensor (if I am not mistaken it was type nr. 2001 that was used, at least for the Beomaster 5500 which had a fixed plug in the socket panel) did not seem to have the "Mute/Standby" button that the similar looking MCL2 sensor had.
Does it mean that it was not possible to activate or to put the system into standby by manually operating the plain external IR sensor connected to Leslie's Beomaster 6500 external plug?
Therefore, instead of the plain IR sensor, would it be possible to connect a MCL2 sensor to Leslie's Beomaster 6500 external plug and to use the "Mute/Standby" button for manual operation?
Many thanks in advance for your help

An MCL sensor would work as an IR sensor but the Timer and Mute buttons would not. If you look at Martin's installation document, you will see that there are only three connections to the external sensor. These will be ground, power, and IR data. The Mute and Timer buttons would require extra connectivity.
Thank you Guy, this is a very clear answer.
