A close up reveals an informative sticker -

Wow, this record is set up for success - I'm about to get my mind blown!

I have that version of the LP as well.  Had to trim out the spindle hole, IIRC.

If I had to ship to you from Mexico the shipping costs would be higher than the price I paid for a new one, and sorting through my LPs I didnt find anything that I could give away without crying. And even I was a poor student once Stick out tongue

I have some 500, 45 singles and there I have some doublets, I will sort out some for you, and next time I'm in TX, I will ship them to you, it will take some time before I go up there again, but it will happen.

I'm so exited myself when I get a new vintage, and  having a nice BG and no disc, would give me a heart attack, or I would stay drunk for a week, I have a good playing Beocord 5000, and only 2 tapes (new ones ordered), I keep listening to these 2 tapes over and over.Whistle

Good luck with your BG 1200 Evan, and welcome to the world of Black Magic, a lot more fascinating than Blue Ray.Big Smile

@Soren - My friendly local used record store (FLURS) has a good selection of cassettes.  I estimate they have 400 - 500 pop/rock alone.  They sell for $4 or $5 each, 3 for $10.  Anything on cassette you'd like me to try to track down for you?  I've bought some tapes at my FLURS just to have something to play on my BCs:  Stones (2 tapes), Sting, Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, and a guilty pleasure from back in college, Georgia Satellites.  Be happy to look for you the next time I go there.

It's there, just out of shot - on purpose! The 3000-2 is upside down on my piano bench, naked. Still working on that... The BeoVoxen are mixed into the environment of a very messy bedroom.

Don't worry, you will get your picture - I promise!

I'm exactly the same way, I felt the purchase coming on, and prepared myself to avoid such a situation by buying a few LPs before I even had a deck!

Thank you Rich, appreciated, but I let the word out in Mexico, so slowly tapes will be coming in, the same happened when I got my first TT.

In the center of Mex. City there are several Record and Tape shops, so I have to use a whole day and go there to have a nice time haggling with the sellers, when they see me (6'3" blond, going on grey) they double their prices, but as I speak the language they soon find out, that with me they will have their problems getting there.

Thanks again Rich

I don't know how it goes in the US, but when people found out that I had TTs and good sounding stereo, they started coming with their long forgotten discs to hear them, mostly old, dirty and scratched, I always goes through the whole procedure of cleaning and checking the discs, and more often than not, I tell them that I wont play them on my TT, explaining that the cartridge is a USD 200.00 piece. We get a beer or a Cuba and listen to some good music. One neighbor came 1 or 2 times a week, always with 2-3 bad LPs, after the 3rd week I asked him why he kept on coming with his bad discs, "free beer and music" he said. Big Smile. He still comes visiting, but now without discs and once in a while with a couple of beers or a bottle of rum.

I hope you will get similar experiences Evan.

I have always liked the Beogram 1200-series for it's clean and modern styling - That was the reason why it appeared in Pink Floyd's "Money" music video in 1973!

Congratulations Evan, it is a nice match with a Beomaster 3000.

@Søren: You are a very generous man, kudos to you for helping young (and poor) students!

Rich:

I have to trim out the spindle holes of about 50% of my new LP purchases and about 20% of my used purchases; it all comes down to that fat Beogram 4000 spindle Laughing

I am with Soren - nice and clean without a lot of buttons and switches and lamps and other crap which is one of the reason I like my Beogram 1700's so much.

I have to drill out the spindle holes on some of the new vinyl I buy.

Record Store Day is Saturday. An event that is celebrated worldwide. Lost weekend will be having discounts and special pricing all weekend long on both new and used vinyl.

..... but since I know the owner personally  I looted the store last Sunday.

This sounds great! I just wish I had friends with vinyl! I have friends that enjoy coming over to listen to my giant system and they bring their cellphones and enjoy their low quality mp3s and youtube videos... That bunch is a lost cause! But I'm happy to say I do know a few vinyl junkies Cool

Rich was kind enough to give my vinyl collection a significant boost in quality and quantity. He even threw in a very nice set of notes (written by himself, no less) and also gave me some tips on record care.

Spinning in the picture is Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here and I have to say - absolutely pristine vinyl.

Rich, I am behind on my drawings for tomorrow's design class... So this will have to continue tomorrow!!!

So Rich,

I felt terrible not being able to show off my new records and post them on the forum so I thought I would make it up to you by making an extra-special showing this morning.

What that means is, I cleared out half of my room and made space for the system to go where it will ultimately be once all restorations are done. Following that I had to put my 3000 back together and get it show ready. Like I promised - you are getting your pic! Once everything was clean and organized, I dug out my DSLR and tripod and started shooting - and listening!!!

Anyway, without any further interruption, here we go!!

Right, forgot to mention, the stuff is still on the floor, but that will change in the coming weeks.

Also, like I said in the previous, there are remodeling changes happening and I couldn't find the wall plate for the outlet so please ignore the ugly details....

Until I got one! My first BeoGram!!!

I got exactly the same one today!

After some cleaning it looked like new!

The hood is a mix of plastic an aluminum, not what I see on photo's on the Internet.

It has some issues to, the belt needs replacement, it needs some oil.

But mostly I need someone in The Netherlands who takes a look at it Wink

It has a SP14 but I have no clue what the condition of the needle is.

I found this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-x-Bang-Olufsen-Turntable-Drive-Belts-B-O-Beogram-/300590216265?pt=Turntable_Parts_Accessories&hash=item45fc92b449

I dont know if it will work so if someone has bought from this seller please let us know.

But some other good news, as the Virus started rocking, I started searching, found a BG 1202, but the seller is traveling in far east and wont be back for a couple of weeks, but according to the seller, we have a deal. The "bad" news, its the Euro version with 50 Hz motor, but maybe not so bad, I can have a lot of fun getting the drive 20 % slower, probably by reducing the OD of the belt drive wheel, or get lucky and find a 60 Hz motor.

I'm getting so exited
