No, why?
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
Hi Quader,
Are you using the 7-40 system 3 to drive the projector using your existing speakers?
Nick
Yes, I'd upgrade in a heartbeat if funds permitted!
I have to say the 7-40 Mk3, even by the very latest standards, is a superb TV - but the BV11 is right at the cutting edge...
Lee
Hi there
if you are like me and running your Beemer from the BV7 then my moving to the new TV you will loose the second output to the Beemer.
This is the reason I have not upgraded my tv and that I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.
bv7 mk6 will allow us to keep the 2nd output and I believe that the beosystem 4 is not yet capable of doing it but should be in the future.
Hope this helps

Hi Seanie
i got the impression i could connect all my present setup onto the bv11 as there appears to be lot of connections on thr bv11
i too have an optoma hd65
If you drive the projector etc via your 7-40, then you won't be able to do this via BV11
My short answer was "No", because you said that you use the (BSys3 of the) BV740 MK3 as a center for your cinema setup.
I agree with Chris that the BV11 is superieur to the BV7 in most ways, but you would loose exactly that function as things are now.
Would be wise to wait untill the 'promised' cinema solution for the BSys4 has arrived. Maybe new constallations will be possible then - or perhaps with the awaited new BV coming next year?
I am sure there will be good offers later as well for those who want to upgrade.
quader: B&o are offering £1300 against bv11 46" and wondering what you guys advise I also have a cinema setup with a third party projector using speaker roles and enjoy watching Should I upgrade?

Should I upgrade?
I owned a MK3 and then a MK4. The MK3 is quite old now. My MK4 was a significant picture upgrade and the BV11-46, an even bigger jump. You'd notice a huge difference and, let's face it, your TV experience is primarily about the picture quality, first and foremost.
Obviously the projector issue is a significant reason why you couldn't switch to a BV11, though. Have you considered a BV7-55 MK2? You get a top notch picture, projector support and it shouldn't be much more than upgrading to the BV11.
One word of advice though - sell the BV7 privately, trade in any working a TV you can find to get the £1300!!
A 'cinema solution' was promised for the BSys4 "by the end of the year".
If this includes the BV11 as well, I don't know.
Maybe it is time to start asking the dealers for this - when, how and how much?
The hardware is available now from Atlona. The SW is what we are waiting on atm.
Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there
@BeoMegaMan
Could you be a bit more specific about the 'Atlona hardware'?
Will it be a BSys4-only solution?
It will work off the AT-HD-IR series and the AT-HD-RSNET. I don't believe there is a B&O only version for the solution.
Thanks.
"Will it be a BSys4-only solution?" means - will this solution work for a BV11, or only for the 'standalone new engine' BeoSystem 4?
One would believe it's only for the BS4 ATM seeing as the 11's don't have a HDMI out. Weather or not that will change in the future I'm not told ATM.
You will have to get the video signal out of the BSys4 to distribute it to the projector - but how?
How do you connect these - I see no HDMI-out on the BSys4.
There is a single HDMI out on the BS4. Apparently, there is another splitter box that hasn't been announced yet that will allow you to do two screens at once.
i dont know whether you can through a PS3
i know with my present setup i can watch sky channels on the projector as well as blue ray via ps3
Are you driving the projector from the TV via the cinema control?
Hi,
I received my BV 11-55 last week but kept my old BV 7-40 mk3 for my bedroom. I'd just like to say GO for it!
The picture is so great and can't be compared (and even the sound). There are so many HDMI inputs and possibilities that you'll find a way to use a projector, should you still want to use it...
I'd just advise to get a MK2 rather than a discounted MK1 for the wireless capability. It offers such flexibility. With the speaker group options, you may even use it like we did with the former Masterlink.
Hope that helps, Marc.
Chris Townsend:Oddly enough I was speaking to someone tonight who has just replaced his 7-40 Mk 6, with an 11-55. Much of what he watched on DVD SD, was of a better quality on the 7-40 Mk 6 than his new 11. He has speakers so the audio side is largely irrelevant.

Always been that way. SD is filmed with only 576 lines (480 for NTSC), so pixels are doubled on a 1080p panel. The larger the panel, the more obvious are the flaws the the original recording. So on a 55", SD will look terrible. It looks poor on my BV11-46, but fine on my BV10-32. I barely see much difference between SD and HD on the 32", due to the size of the pixels on the small panel. HD is marginally sharper.
Why do you think they recommend 4K for 55" or higher? :)
It's all so blindingly obvious now my world isn't in a Rose induced cloud

I have to disagree about SD necessarily looking terrible on a 55".
The quality of the processing will have an important bearing on the quality of the displayed image.
SD, be it Freeview, or DVD, was excellent on my Pioneer 60" TV, and is superb on my BV 7-55 Mk 2.
As for 4K, the reviews of currently released TVs are revealing them to have issues re non 4K PQ.
Does the BV11 upscale pictures and sound from a DVD?
I've sent you a pm....such a good deal that I daren't broadcast it!
And in stock....
we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
TerryM: SD, be it Freeview, or DVD, was excellent on my Pioneer 60" TV, and is superb on my BV 7-55 Mk 2.
Normally SD is better on a plasma as it smooths the picture. An LCD is far more 'brutal' with the source, so any flaws are exaggerated.
It stands to reason that SD isn't great on a large LCD screen as it has to be both upscaled and you see the flaws in the recording. It's true that some modern well-produced SD still looks good on a large LCD panel (as an example, a recent movie), but older SD or SD through a low bandwidth channel, doesn't look good, as the source isn't good to start with. You can see quite clear and obvious differences between even high bandwidth SD content and the same channel in HD.
There's simply no way a 576-lined SD image is going to be 'superb'. I can't think of any SD content on a BV11-46 (only slightly being a 55-MK2 in picture quality) or my BV7-40, that I'd regard as superb. There's a reason that 1080p Blu-ray looks so good on a 55" panel, and it's not down to picture processing. That's more of a dream B&O owners like to tell other people to justify their purchase, IMHO. Note the last word there.
for sure HD content is so much better than SD, must look good on the BV11 if it is better than
BV7 Mk3 , i enjoy watching HD content either through Sky or PS3 and very rarely use
the built in DVD player for that reason.
4K is suppose to be even better than HD but i think we are still few years off when more content
is available in 4K
The software for the dual screen experience on the BeoSystem 4 is now available from B&O. You will need specialty Atlona pieces as well as having to contact B&O to have them specifically send you the update to your BeoSystem 4. Apparently it's not a SW that will be rolled out to every machine. All those holding out for dual screen contact your dealer now!!
3rd party products -> HDMI Matrix/Exp./Ext. -> Atlona HDMI Switch/Expander- AT-HD4-V42-B&O
why not make a seperate post about this awaited sw-update?
I saw your posting only 'by accident'.
Might interest more BeoWorlders.
Your right.... I was just trying to keep it in the context of the question. I'll make another post specific to the announcement.
To add beosystem 4 and other accessories all seem to much of an expense
Shame that B&O have not thought of this
