For those of you who don't read german!!!
In a post - in german language - the user 'Iceman10245' tells about the BS/BM5 update, that came today.
With Spotify in 'slave mode' and the rip-drive as cd-player.
As anyone got this - can anyone tell more?
Note: I don't own a BS/BM5 myself - but this seems to be something that might (again) make me think of getting one.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Thanks,
I wouldn't suggest anyone buys the BM5/BS5 until they make it NL compatible (or they officially say they will make it NL compatible), or they bring a new NL Beosound.

You may be right about that - but the update is great news for recent BS/BM5 owners anyway.
Chappo B&O - for caring about their costumers.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there
Millemissen: and the rip-drive as cd-player. As anyone got this - can anyone tell more?
and the rip-drive as cd-player.
CD player works flawless. One gets the cover and track tittles.
Option: auto rip y/n, format to rip to: wma lossless or 320, cd repeat, cd random, source on remote (cd, amem,...)
note: tried it with an external USB dvd drive
Hi BeoMegaMan,
the (new) support for chinese QQMusic will be less important for most of the Beoworlders.
But it shows that B&O is willing to supprt more 'Music Services'.
I am still hoping for WIMP HIFi (or Qobuz).

A pity that FLAC is still left out - guess people would still have to rip external - I would if....
But the CD-'ripper' is now at least usefull - nice that album cover and tracktitles are shown
By the way - which external drive are you using? Is it one with an extra power supply, or does the USB of the BM5 provide enough power?
It could be used with the NetLink converter, couldn't it?
Razlaw:It could be used with the NetLink converter, couldn't it?
..by NL Link rooms, but it doesn't really make sense, as all current NL products (TVs) and DLNA compatible, so you'd rather connect to the BM5 with a network cable. It would create a wonky setup.
The BM5 has its own Network connection so it could potentially be upgraded.
The whole range is almost upgraded to NL, except for Beosounds, I wouldn't buy anything that's not NL right now.

this seems to imply that another device such as a Beosound 3000 can be used as Audio Master as well as having the Beosound 5 connected? I have a Beosound 3000 but have never been able to get it to work with the Beosound 5 and have it unplugged for quite some time. What are the option settings to get the 3000 and 5 to work together in the same master link system?

Settings depends on your setup.
The important thing is that the BS/BM5 does not have to be the 'AudioMaster' any more.
Yet another limitation - how/when will we get rid of that???
"If AUDIO MASTER is set to NO, you cannot use the CD Ripping Device as a CD-player."
Which means NO CD-player with another AudioSystem!!!
MM.

Nor if you have e.g. a BeoMaster 4500 with a Playmaker on the A.Tape-port - or a or a BeoLink Converter with a Playmaker on the A.Aux-port.
Millemissen:Exactly that is THE good news! Settings depends on your setup. The important thing is that the BS/BM5 does not have to be the 'AudioMaster' any more. MM There is a tv - and there is a BV.
Maybe you have an early BS3000 without the N.Music SW/Chip?
Have you set the BS/BM5 to 'not audiomaster'?
On 11-12-2013 Spotify is free of charge for mobile devices. What about Spotify on Beosound 5. Do I still need the premium account or can I use the (new) free account?

nico:I did a quick test this morning and it seems to work fine Setup : bv9 bs9000 bm5/bs5. All in same room, speakers connected to bv9 Bs9000 is audiomaster bm5 no audiomaster I had to use a beo 4 to select between different sources, but it works as decribed in the manual I will have to reprogram the beo 6 a bit, but that is not to hard to do ... Happy it works finnally... Why did this take so long for B&O to make this possible ... I always tought they had to make a new eprom for the bs9000, but is seems it can work just with a software update for the bm5 Anyway... I'm happy :-)) Nico
Razlaw:Which option setting do you have 9000 in?
Thanks!
I have the 5 set to Audio Master No.......3000 set to option 0
This is what happens:
on Beo 4 press: CD CD in 3000 plays as it should
then select N. Radio CD stops, Beosound 3000 lights turn off. N. Radio appears briefly on 5 then goes dark, no sound, but speakers and TV still have green light on.
select N. Music 3000 briefly lights up nothing else happens
turn everything off and then select
N. Music N Music plays as it should, 3000 is lit up and says N. Music in display.
select N. Radio 3000 turns off, N. Radio briefly displays on 5, then goes dark, speakers and TV still have green lights on.
turn everything off
Select N. Music with Beo 4 and press 1 as described in manual, nothing happens.
Couple other things.....I have the 3000 and 5 in a room with a BV 10. BV7-55 in other room. I had both TVs set to option 2 so that the timer function in the 7 would also turn the 10 on as if the 10 is in option 6, the timer from the 7 activates audio sources only, not video on the 10. I changed the 10 to option 6.
Now everything seems to work. I can select N. Music, CD, N. Radio or Spotify and switch between them.
However, I can not select playlists in Spotify. How is that done? It worked fine before without the 3000 connected.
Also, when I turn the system off, everything turns off except the screen on the 5. I have to press the off button (red dot on Beo 4) a second time to get the screen to turn off.
I think I will just have to leave the 3000 disconnected.

I think it's a bit of a shame that all software releases are only BM/BS5 related.
I only have a BM5. Each time the menu tells you there's been an update, I quickly read the info about the newest release, but none of all the updates have improved my BM5. No A.Aux, no CD playing or ripping, No flac, no musicserver, no Spotify, none of that
A Spotify update would be great. Easy to program an extended "startmenu" with Spotify beneath the NRadio function with synchronized playlists.
Even a decent search option for albums should have been there already. Like with artists you can search by the first letter (pressing the left button several times).
I like surfing through my albums on my BV9 with the Beo4 remote, making playlists. So I do not necessarily need all the extra features, but getting none so far is the opposite.
