Dear members,

what are the differences between the various Beocenter 1 types? I understand that earlier models use the Beo1, whereas later models use the Beo4. What were the relevant options (Accs)? Did Masterlink ever become a standard? What about the surround module? Was this module only available as an option? Is it the same as the one in the Avant? Which configuration of the Beocenter 1 is most desirable/do you like best?

Thanks!

Rgds,

Kai

you can use the Beo4 remote with any Beocenter 1, does not matter how old it is

Masterlink was standard on the Beocenter 1, that was the differentiator between it and the cheaper Beovision 1

also standard was an FM radio connector, so you could connect an Aerial on the roof to the BC1

the STB module is a nice accessory, it will allow the Beo4 to control a third party set top box

because the BC1 had Masterlink it could also act as the primary Audio Gateway for a zone, so radio, TV and DVD/CD material on the BC1 (acting as the source) could be viewed in another room using Masterlink

the BC1 came as standard with two powerlink sockets on the back, my daughter used this TV for many years to play Music DVD's, we had two Beolab 4000 speakers connected to the powerlink sockets for playing stereo music cd's and dvd's, and it sounded VERY good !

you can easily change the speaker output using the Beo4 by pressing

List

Speaker

then the >> key

then press 1 for speakers output from the TV only

press 2 for the Beolab stereo speakers only

press 3 for both the TV centre channel and the Beolab speakers (ideally with a Beolab 2 sub)

yes it did have a "Surround Sound Module" as an optional extra, but I am pretty sure it is not the same one as found in the Avant

Thanks. I was reading that not all of the Beocenters had Masterlink. However, as far as I understand, differences are mainly in options but not in anything that affects picture and sound quality. Therefore, picture and sound quality should be the same across all different types of Beocenter 1s. It's only connections that vary? Is that correct?
