Do you imagine the BeoPlay TV will be easily enough integrated with my current setup of a BeoSound 3000, BeoLab 6000 and BeoLab 2? Obviously there is no masterlink, but that shouldn't be a problem right... the two can both output to the speakers somehow?

One thing I don't think has been mentioned or asked (apologies if it has), but can this TV be controlled via existing B&O remotes, eg; the Beo4, or does it have its own dedicated remote.

It was said somewhere that it comes with the new Beo4 (the one with the joystick) and actually requires this version of the remote. Info not confirmed yet.

This TV will not really work in a masterlink setup. It is a standalone product.

So no easy way for the TV and BeoSound to operate using the same speakers?

« Philips new range are coming out in september and the mid tier and higher end all sport 5 hdmis too aswell as looking incredibly sleek, i also think that when apple release there tv it will be a rap for the beoplay v1.

The fan base is strong for apple and i think that the design will be well ahead of the v1... the price ratio will be a big factor two as the v1 will be considerably more than the apple tv, i think people will think why buy the v1 when the apple tv will be cheaper and probably sport an even sleeker design just my opinion though. »

May be because B&O is different than all the other products on the market.

May be because we could see an apple tv in 50% of the homes in 2013.

And, personnaly, even if i have an iPhone and an iPad, i will never buy an apple tv or an apple sound system.

But, you're right. most of young people who buy apple stuff don't know B&O, its history, its qualities over the years.

I'm getting a new tv soon and it'll be either a Bv10 or a Bv7 , certainly not this ..thing

It looks like a rushed prototype imo.

Could someone please explain what is the actual point of designing a flat panel tv , then putting it at an angle with the tubular frame and using as much depth as a crt  ?? Super Angry

I have just come off another site which has quite a few pictures of this tv and i have to say that i hate the stand with a passion why oh why couldn't they just have made a simple table stand not this tubular contraption?? i very much prefer the look of the new loewe connect id  the price of this tv doesn't suit the look regardless of what it's got to offer i know it sounds harsh but it's true.

The problem for the V1 Steph is that cosmetically it just doesn't look like a B&O product. I have to admit that if it had Finlandia or one of the other more obscure makes on it, i would have believed it. Whatever the direction of B&O, one of it's traits historically is that they look fantastic. The V1 looks like a cheap monitor that has had a stand modified from an clothes airer or tentErm..

Be honest, if it didn't have a B&O badge on it..........

Most quality manufacturers do have a cheaper entry model. The Rolex Air King, Audi A1, BMW 1 series etc. They all mirror their more expensive full blown models albeit with less kit etc. The V1 doesn't do this, and i have to agree that when the Apple TV lands, the V1 will dead in the water.

There is a vertical stand, and you can hang it flat on the wall if you want.

I has for many years a MX that was on the floor but tilted. This is a great position for a TV. This viewing angle is very relaxing for the eye.

If you position the tv low, having it tilted makes perfect sense.

"Never judge a book by it's cover."

Why judge a TV by a few poor quality photographs?

Picture quality,sound quality,build quality?

Official UK launch on 3 May.

I look forward to opinions based on audition.

From some of the whinging here, I wonder sometimes...

Get a grip :)

Seriously. People are allowed an opinion, positive or negative. I never understand how some users can't stand or cope with negative comments. Not everyone likes everything B&O produces. We're not machines.

Also, as we know, people change their mind after seeing the products in person.

OK - but that rule doesn't include me, it seems.... or will you allow me my opinion, ie that it is wrong for people to be expecting full blown Beovision specs from a (relatively) budget starter product, that is quite clearly part of a sub-brand.

I didn't - and wouldn't - grumble about anyone who simply doesn't like the design....that is, quite obviously, in the eye of the beholder, and people are entitled to like whatever they want.

So.....grip achieved, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not disputing the picture or sound quality but the v1 to me looks plain ugly and that goes for the stand too, no matter what anyone says to me i saw b&0 as a highend brand and i always felt that the design of their tvs was a cut above the rest. I find that they didn't try to hard in designing the v1 it don't matter if they are supposed to be a sub brand it still is a b&0 tv at the end of the day.

They could have made it look so much more appealing without competing with the other beovisions, i really wanted to have my first b&0 tv and was really excited when i first heard of an entry level tv but i really don't feel anything for the v1 i find that my new gt50 looks miles better in comparison to the v1 and have know regrets purchasing it either.

I hope all the perspective buyers enjoy this tv unfortunately i won't be one of them.

I've just had a go with it.  Firstly, I much prefer it in white and I actually fell in love with the 32" model over the 40" (I did only see the 40" in the dark grey however).

I watched a movie on it 720HD through a USB stick. It was a download and I've got to say, the picture quality was excellent on the 32.

Sound quality was really great - nice clear treble with some decent bass. It comes with the Beo4 remote with the B&O logo on it.

For £2000 this is actually really nice - yep, i'm having one (with Orange in the speaker grill :) :) :)

I've cancelled my Sky HD, so for me, i'll be streaming everything via Apple TV and my MacBook and iPhone

Just been reading the revew of the play tv on the what video site and one bit read....

"B&O promises the BeoPlay V1 TV will deliver "brilliant sound, brilliant design and complete control" thanks to the inclusion of a universal remote."

Universal Remote..Hmmm that will be a first for B&O......?

Be great if it was and how would that effect other remotes like the Beo 5/6 paper weight.I mean remote lol.

If it was universal it would make so much easer to control things and no worries about puc codes like in other tv's.

Beoplay V1 ships with the new "joystick" version of Beo4, so this is not a true universal remote.  This version of remote is essential to properly set up the TV.  Unfortunately, this remote has been re-branded as a "Beoplay" product, with a combination of "Play" and "4" in its name that may have seemed quite amusing to the Marketing team at the time, but which may not appeal to all prospective owners.......

The V1 has the ability to upgrade its STB control software over the internet, hence this should help to make the Beo4Play (B&O's choice of name, not mine) a "virtual" universal remote, as the TV should be upgradable to control most common AV products that it is linked to.

Online STB list updates are in my view the logical way forward, giving (almost) universal control via the V1's external IR outputs, plus the superb transmission abilities of the 455kHz Beo4 remote.

All in all, a well thought out TV aimed squarely at a new market sector, although admittedly not one that will sit comfortably with some existing B&O owners or their collections.

Thanks for that Steve and yes updates over the web are the way to go! Also just seen the utube video, like the white set also it look very thin because of the stand but don't like the stand looks like a throw on!

If it connected to the rest of my stuff I'd get one and bie bie the Bv 7 bedroom set! but we know why it does not....

Looks a winner to me,price is great, think  I know somone who could come over to b&o for the first time with that price.....

Installed the 32" & 40" in store today, and must say that I'm very impressed by the stunning picture quality and equally impressive sound quality!

Soon had the BeoMaster 5 streaming wirelessly to the 40" - very easy set up..

All in all very pleased with this product, the aesthetic took a little getting used placed next to a BeoVision 10 - but the picture and sound were equal to it, and for a TV costing less than £2000 (32") I expect a busy launch day and evening tomorrow!

This product requires the new Beo4 -  included in the price.

PUC table update very easy via the internet.

WLAN extension aerial included in box.

One thing else, the matt effect on its screen was far better at resisting bright lights and reflections than all the glass fronted Beovision's with "anti reflective" coatings. This is a good point, together with its sound.

Hey Elephant, don't get me started on white BL6000's, you know how much I love them!

Maybe the B&O speakers designed for laptops etc which are supposed to be on their way may compliment the looks of this V1.  White BL3's would look nice next to a white V1 on a table / unit.

I HOPE THIS TV HAS THE ELECTRIC CURTAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF IT HAS, THEN IT'S PERFECT :)

 Yes, it has electronic curtains...

And of course, via the Beo4, you also can control "real" electronic curtains (ie. the ones at your windows) by adding Rako or Lutron home automation circuitry......  Big Smile

V1 has built-in WiFi module. You can access any NAS from the V1 and scroll thru all of your pictures, movies and music. Very nice feature!

I'm truly excited by this TV, and if it fulfils the promise re the photos and specs, and 'sensible' pricing, I think it will be the TV that will convince me to finally scratch the B&O itch that has been nagging me for ages, by buying one!

I have three queries I hope Steve at Sounds Heavenly may be able to answer, or others who may be more knowledegable than I about the B&O scheme of things.

Will it have a digital HD TV tuner suitable for the Australian market?

Is the remote control still made of zinc, or have they cheapened it by making it out of plastic?

Most importantly, How do I get to play DTS-HD master audio Blurays re the audio decoding? - the specs for the surround sound module only mention Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 2.0.  The specs also state that HDMI is used for video, and SPDIF for audio - but SPDIF does not have the bandwidth required for Dolby True HD or DTS HD master audio - these are usually output over HDMI from a suitable player.

I really want this B&O TV to work for me with my love for AV/movies etc.

I hope Steve or somebody with technical knowledge about the B&O 'way' could help answer these concerns..if they can be answered positively, I think one of these sets is going to be mine!

Best Regards, and thanks

I could listen to the 40" version in Berlin and the sound was very good. They were streaming music in the shop through its speakers at a quite high volume.

But what about the 32" as it doesn't seem to have a subwoofer?

Has anyone listened to both sizes?

Is there also any photo with the 'vertical' table stand?

I must admit I'm warming to the white version. Love the idea of being able to swap out the colour under the speaker fret and I've always been someone who wants a B&O white TV (but has never pulled the trigger - nearly bought a white BV8, but glad I didn't after seeing an ex-demo white BV8 at my dealer).

Sad as it sounds, B&O always get me on devices which enable me to swap out the colour. Always acts as a talking point. People notice my BV10-46 with orange fret than any other colour! BS8's also are in orange at the moment.

Problem is, 32/40" is slightly too large for my kitchen (currently have a 23" BC6), too small for my sitting room and I don't like TVs in bedrooms....so I don't know where I'd use it.

If there is a vertical table stand, what will fill the ugly gaps along the top and bottom where the clothes airer slotted in? Still trying to post a pic!!!
