Dear Leslie,

These decals are the black rub-on letters to replace the original black printed numbers behind the volume slider (nr's 1-10). How do you restore the black lines?

Greetz,

Dave

Some confusion over here. You were talking about the Beolab 5000 classic. The ones I have are all in good condition regarding the text. Where needed I used a "Rotring" pen. Mecanorma or Letraset can be used as well. Try Marktplaats or Ebay.fr

Leslie:

@AdamS, you mean the one on page 5? It's just an ordinary black wallplug that has to be cut on length. Would you like me to send you some (for free) except for posting costs?

Hi Leslie,

Yes, that's the ones. I've tried to find some here in the UK that are the right size but with no luck. If you can spare six, please that would be superb!

Would you like me to PM you my address details?

Thanks Christian, with this kind of weather, yes!

Beolab 8000, bad scratches on the bottom part of the alum. cabinet. What to do?

I might as well paint the base.

Gonna recloth the fret in white (has been ordered). I want to have it all white so I painted the fret not to see any black behind the cloth.

Which color Hmm

Bought it from a private person. This came from a B&O dealer. Speakerset from a RL35/45?

Beautiful painting.

Unfortanetely the frame is made of plastic so I will change that into aluminium (later).

I am not familiar with those speaker drivers but they are neither RL35 nor RL45.
Doesn't look like B&O, I think.

Thanks for dissapointing me Martin Crying But I know it wasn't, but it came from a B&O dealer and the cloth looks familiar with the cover of some B&O CD's I have. Gonna check that!

Finally I finished my decal layout for the Dirigent I'm working on and found a mistake on the lay-out.

Looks like B&O made a little mistake on the 2pin DIN symbol. If you compare the plug on the chassis and the symbol you will see that it's the other way around. Spade on the symbol should be on the right side. And a little mistake on the word "Glodestrom", whatever that means. Will do it again...Whistle

Or perhaps the assembly worker just riveted the sockets the wrong way around (they are not on a PCB as far as I recall, so it doesn't matter if you still wire them right)...

Can't get to my 610K (one year newer I suppose) but here's a picture of the rear panel - it appears to be the same way.

BO must be right on the wording, it means the heater current of the valves.

Thanks Mika, just rotated the DIN plugs on my decal sheet. Not sure if that was wise to do but it needs to be correct.

After 3 attempts I finally finished my decal.

This is how it was.

And this is how it is now.

And new aluminium frames for my loudspeaker paintings. Honestly, they sound a lot better then the RL45's I have.

Next job is completing my Beolabs 8000's. 4 woofers need to be replaced. Thought the amps were defect so I swapped them with donor amps. No result.

Hi Leslie,

I am always wondering the quality of your lettering works and would like to start also to improve the aesthetic of my works.

Where to start from, I do not know.

I have a practical example it concerns the lettering of the Beomaster 3000, the one with the sliders, I renovated it electronically and brought it back to life. It is this one: http://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=336

The area I am talking about is the front panel the aluminium where the marking is weak and the sliders marking: "Tuning, Volume, Treble, Bass, Balance"

Thanks a lot for your guidance

Bonjour Alain,

Waterslide decal. Youtube is your friend.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkawGOSFjWQ

What I did with my Dirigent is a sort of workaround. Made a picture exactly in front of the chassis.

Used Powerpoint to paste the picture as a background layer. On top of that I put all the symbols and text (many fonts available) and resized them until they fit the symbols/text as seen on the picture. Then I deleted the picture and that's it. Sorry, you need to mirror the whole lay-out and print the decal either on laser or inkjet. Simple right?

By the way, bought my decals at www.paperspecials.nl The owner Anton gave me lots of support in guiding me. Thanks!

By the way, if your looking for sliders for BM3000 I think I must have them somewhere in my closet. :-)

New caps..

Next step on my Dirigent is making replica's of the knobs. Few are missing.

Challenge? I don't know, will see....

Never say that before a job !Whistle

Im going to guess the knobs go onto a  round bar with a flat side ???

Are your replica knobs hard enough to take a thread ? There are some work arounds if not.

There's no threaded hole inside, just a square nut that needs to put inside. Have those and if not I'll make them,  no sweat. In the mean time I made more knobs. First I had a shortage and now I have plenty. :-)

As always, good job Leslie ;-)

All you need now are few other valve amplifier 608 (or Dirigent or Mini 609/610 ...) without knobs to have something to put your nice knobs on Big Smile

My advice, if I may: in the next round (if there will be the next) make the slightly different version for the amplifier 610. Those knobs are much more rare and more desired because there is no other B&O model, which had the same ones, I think (Martin will correct me if I am wrong).

You can get a good price for them I think...

Well, I made enough to cover my own 608's and Dirigent and have no intention to make them again for selling purposes. But maybe if I have a 610 with missing knobs surely I will make them. At least I know how to make them.

Looking at Mika's picture below it looks like the B&O assembler at that time didn't do a proper job mounting the 2p DIN sockets. Or was it the man/women who did mine as well...

Leslie, could you do the lamp holders on the 608-610s with the same material or would the heat be an issue? They always seem to be very brittle. One of mine shoots across the room if I have my 610 on for a while as it must expand just enough when heated!

I don't know how you do all this amazing work. Do you have previous experience in any of these fields or are you a talented amateur? Which ever, you have my admiration for both the work that you do and for the results that you achieve on projects that to me appear totally impossible.
