Hello,

My Beolink Passive does not support the A.AUX command, so I cannot reach the Playmaker plugged in the A.Aux input of my BC2.

Is there a solution to this issue?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks by advance and kind regards,

Yann.

You can send it in to repair, so they can add that logic in a SW and hardware upgrade.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

Honestly,

It may be cheaper to buy a second hand one with the newer firmware.

I have this scenario but use a ml/mcl converter as an audio master. That allows any audio signal to come theough

Try ”A.TAPE" instead.

YannChris, had exact same issue recently - BC2 and Beolink Passive. No A.TAPE, Shift Radio etc. worked.

Only solution was software upgrade (dealer installs new chip). I know with the BL3500 and the Beosounds, A.TAPE works as substitute but not with BC2..

Stan:

Try ”A.TAPE" instead.

The 'A-Tape'/A-Mem will only work if the source is connected to an AudioMaster with an a-tape port - such as the BM4500.

Is it possible to use a passive kit to do this or do you need mcl/ml convertor..

It works with my bs9000 and bs1 so I assumed it worked with everything. Apparently, this is not true, but it is cheap (free) and easy to test.

As mentioned before, with many products A.Aux, A.Tape and A.Mem can be used interchangeably -problem is the Beolink Passive pre SW version 1.5 simply does not understand those commands. SW version 1.5 added A.Aux and 1.6 added MLGW compatibility.

A workaround is to connect the passive directly to the BC2 with powerlink, but that's not real a 'link' option since it simply adds passive speakers to existing BC2. Alternative is to start A.Aux on BC2 and the physically walk to Beolink Passive IR eye and hitting the play button I.e. joining the existing source but not always practical - in my setup I have the passive in a weatherproof enclosure on a deck by the riverbank which is 50+ meters away from the house with the BC2

I am aware of the 'workaround' with starting 'A-Aux' on the source and then...

Only thing is that you would have to mute the sound, or change to a video source in the main room after pushing the play button on the ir-eye.

Best thing is to search for a 'passive link' with at least SW1.5....

...or an 'active' (with SW1.5) and just use the 'passive' as an amp for it.

(Which again would give you the opportunity of connecting an additional local source ('PC'-command) to the 'active' in that room)!

I had to have mine upgraded to connect a sonos in a link room. Had to cut a hole in the plasterboard to get the unit out. Never thought i would need access to it once installed. Sad

You plastered over your passive kit? Why would you do that? That's one of the worst things you could do. I'd have a serious problem with whoever recommended that.

Building regulations/ codes keep developing over time.

25 years ago if an electrician damaged wiring during an installation or need to extend a cable run he wouldn't have hesitated to leave a junction box buried inside a wall; it was common and accepted practice. Until recently plumbers didn't need to consider the best places for water or gas system pipe joints etc. Now, at least in the UK,  it is not permissible to bury any type of electrical junction box etc behind plasterboard/ drywall without access and pipe junctions are no longer allowed to be situated inside walls because they might leak unseen.
