Hello,
I am sure ths is not a new question as to what to use to replace the adhesive tape for the aluminum deck and panel that covers the tone arm on the BG 8000 when it comes loose. I did a search on the old forum but maybe did not use the correct key words and came up with nothing. I seem t recall a mention of 3M doubled sided foam tape. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have done 4 of these and use epoxy glue. I know some have used carpet tape, but I found glue to be stronger and it gave a very satisfactory finish.

2-comp epoxy for the right side lid, liberal amounts of contact glue for the platter surround.I glue in a handful of metal washers under the right side lid in suitable thickness to compensate forthe loss of the foam tape height and shim the panel to sit flush with the dustcover.Make sure you have the Beogram on a plain and smooth surface and all its rubber feet are present and goodwhile you glue or the lid will not sit nice and/or conflict with the dustcover.

They used double sided foam taple so why not keep it original and do the same? There are various suppliers, can recommend the one that is sold for attaching number plates to cars, like that one: http://www.maplin.co.uk/double-sided-foam-tape-33766
John, I can supply you some 3M DS (not foam) tape for free if you need any for your BG8000

Because you would end up with the same messy problem again in 6 years.
Double sided tape has been improved since 1955 Martin

Also since 1985 ?Surely, the butyl foam used hasn't improved a bit and that seems to be the problem. The sticky tape seems to hold on nicely (actually too good if you are to remove the old stuff).
(This is my second try at posting this. First time I got the server unavailable message screen - again !)
You're welcome! Btw, it doesn't cost a fortune, 3E by regular post If you gonna decide for 3M sticky tape make sure you get the right one, but be carefull though, once the panel has placed it stays, no adjustments after

I have used 2-comp epoxy for both...And also for the glass-panels on my BeoSystem 4500 and BeoCenter 9500. They will never come loose again
