You have talked about the new TV coming up ... but I know will come the new Beolab 9.

More expensive, larger but similar in form.

Larger???

Yes, think the BL14 sub, but larger, with an alt :)

Looks like we're going to have an interesting May. New speaker, new TV. Spoke with my dealer today and he says the picture from the new TV is simply outstanding.

Why 'think the BL14' - it is kind of the same shame now too.

Color me intrigued. I dunno how they can improve them sound-wise, but the looks could do with a makeover.

The ALT doesn't look too hot right now. Could reshape it and use the same kind of metal as on the Beolab 18.

Probably some 'cosmetic corrections', a new amplifier module and a built- in IWS module.

Thanks, Sly.

I'm really curious about this.

The Beolab 9 is somewhat of a fan favourite amongst B&O fans, but it is not as well known outside B&O circles. If they could manage to give it a more iconic design, something approaching the Beolab 5, Beolab 8000 or Beolab 18, they could have a really strong product on their hand.

I'm not expecting or saying they should do a radical redesign, it is just a few small things that could really improve the look.

I like it a lot. Black is bad. red or white instead very attractive.

The output of the new BL20 lower the price of 9. Even now, used, is located on the 3500/4000 Euros. Great price for a speaker of the highest quality.

Making comparisons with friends I realized that if you want a speaker with very good and clean bass and not annoying, the speaker must be great. There is no comparison between the BeoLab 9 and 8000, the bl3, and bl18.

Quite a chunk more than the existing BL9 then. Will be interesting to see what it's like and how it performs. The release date is the same day as the new TV, too.

Every single day!

I'm not getting the new TV, so it's of no concern anyhow. It's going to be at least £10K as it sits between the BV11-55 (£9K) and the old BV12-65 (£13K). I can get a superb Panerai or IWC for that and keep the BV11-46 ;)

Dealer told me today: New TV is called 'Avant', that's for sure. 4K, no internal harddrive but any harddrive can be connected to USB socket, rotating speakers, 55 inches. And it would cost only 7.000 EUR (can't believe it!).

Yes, they decided to produce and sell more than 10 Avants per month...😜

Selling an Avant NG (even at that price) and two sets of BeoLab 20 will be a good deal for B&O in the end.

Well, after the Brussels trip this week, the dealers were told "between BV11-55 and the BV12-65" price-wise, for the new 55" TV. That doesn't bring it in at EUR 7000!

Also, I'm not sure B&O could bring out a brand new TV with 4K, far cheaper than the existing BV11-55, in the same size screen, with a mechanical speaker mechanism. You do know how much B&O charge for their motorised stands? :)

Yes I was told £6,000 for new Beovision Avant, probably £7,500 with special motorised stand in smallest 55" version.

So 7.000 EUR might really be true.

BTW: The dealer told me this price not out of his mind, but from his computer where the specs of the new Avant are already listed.

Nowadays it's nearly impossible to sell a TV for more than 10.000 EUR. Fifteen years ago a 'normal' TV costed about 2.000 DM (1.000 EUR) and the glorious Avant about 10.000 DM (5.000 EUR), means five times higher. Actually a BV 11 is about twenty times higher than a Samsung. For most costumers this is not acceptable any more.

But who on earth would buy a BV 11 anymore??

Hi Räuber,

why - on earth - do you think that they have had the BV11 'trade in offer' going on for a while?

In reallity it was already cheaper as listed.

It's not easy to start selling the BV's at a lower price.

There is always somebody, that reacts offended - (that he has paid 'too much' for his BV bought a year ago).

Hi MM,

'trade in offers' make sense, but not so soon after launch. Take a look at car industry, there are very often special offers, but only short before a new model will be launched.

Dealer told me yesterday he sold three pairs of Beolab 18 directly at launch to enthusiastic B&O custumers, but afterwards no more. That's why there has to be a 'trade in offer' so soon after launch. Wouldn't it be a better strategy to offer a new Beolab for an affordable price from start?

If I check the price of my watch I recognize it becomes more and more expensive. And that's why I'm a happy customer!

And if I will see soon a special offer for Beolab 19 like 'trade in any old speaker you can find you will get a discount of 1.000 EUR' I throw my new fantastic subwoofer out of the window!

Raeuber:

Precisely!

Can you imagine this sales patter "We have this brand new £6K, 55" 4K TV with motorised loudspeaker...or you can buy this old £9K BV11 55" instead".

If B&O releases a £6K 55" TV, then this is effectively the ONLY TV in their showroom. No-one is going to buy a BV11-46 or 55 as they are way more expensive, for older technology.

As I said earlier, my dealer insists it's going to sit above the BV11, price-wise, which makes more sense! Newer technology, superb design, 4K. I'd love it if it was released at £6,000 though. I'd upgrade immediately. I just don't see it being realistic.

One thing is true though, it's a month until launch and almost no-one knows definitive information or even the design. Amazing. No leaks at all, even though dealers on this board have seen the TV in person :)

I am agree with Raeuber !

BeoPrices are to high nowadays.

It will be better to start with regular and affordable prices.

These Trade Off or Discount prices are bad for the image of the brand.

So if BL20 will cost 10k then the questions are:
- how will they compare to cheaper pre-owned BL5?
- if one gets a good deal for ex-demo BL9, is it still worth it?

Thanks, js

Very odd question. The BL9 doesn't become 'not worth it' just because a new speaker is released. The BL9 remains an outstanding speaker, particularly if you get a good deal. There's a huge difference between the price of a discounted BL9 and the forthcoming BL20.

BL5s are superb, if you have the space they require. I didn't, so ended up getting rid of them (and the BL9s, I should add).

You don't get the wireless support, but you can add that later if required.
