BeoBoy68:@Maab I have already communicated the information to another post; The panel is made by Samsung UE 55F9000 Made in Slovenia. This TV cost actually € -1890.-
BeoBoy68: This TV cost actually € -1890.-
This TV cost actually € -1890.-
Yes, thanks for this information, so I just ran some numbers based on US pricing at today's exchange rate:
(Beovision Avant at €5828) - (Samsung Panel at €1890) = €3938 - (Beosystem 4 €3349) = €589 (US$808)
{I obtained a price list today, and a Beosystem 4 was US$4595)
I've absolutely NOT factored in any of B&O's proprietary materials, glass treatment, WISA, or internal technologies, motors, etc....
What does that leave? So for under $1000US more than the cost of the panel and the video engine, you're getting speakers, motorized magic, BeoRemote One, newer software (maybe more magic than Beosystem 4 on picture), the glass / materials, etc....
It seems to be a pretty good value all said and done.
Edit: I'm sure I've not understood something and gotten tons wrong above, so go easy on me.
rob08:Black plastic with a blue light sounds very much like a playstation 4. And to my knowledge the ps4 does not have UHD output capability yet
mawheele: It does more, it costs less, its that simple. Whats not to like?

BeoGreg:Sure it wasn't a PS4. Small with a strange shape (not round not square). I googled it but can't find it.

For me its ordinary when you first look at it quick, then you notice the stand. The glass. The aluminium. The design features, the edges that neatly comes to life in every way, even on the remote. It is a really graceful TV. Most certainly built by extremely professional workers in Bang & Olufsens own top modern factory in Koprivnice, have you seen it? A remarkable beautiful factory by the country side.
I don't judge your view on where products are made but I don't think that matters as long as you do it right. I think of the world as a whole and it is that kind of world I want to be part of.
4 beolab 5, beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2, 2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...
mibook84:If you read answers to your previous posts you would see that I replied to you with this: It's probably this. And I say the demo and yes it was 4k and I could clearly see the difference. http://madcatz.com/mojo/en-ca/

BeoGreg: But for me the country of origin sticker is part of the magic. I recon that I will soon have a problem when the only choice will be CZ or RPC.

Correct, UHD might be enabled for movies in the future, but for gaming it has already been said that it's out of the question. The hardware needed to game at 4 times the FullHD resolution is not in the PS4.
The only way to play 4K at the moment is either via a DLNA server or (I guess) a direct-attached USB drive or a 4K player like the Oppo. Those of us using a Mac with Plex or XBMC connected to a TV will be limited by the 1080p output.

But some Macs do support it.
A dealer told me that the file playing was 4K native from a drive (or NAS, hence my mention of a DLNA server).Do you know which Macs support 4K output? To the best of my knowledge only the Mac Pro does, using multiple connections though..

The TV does not support 4K from USB or DLNA, from what was said here, only from HDMI.

So it downscales to 1080p? Since USB/DLNA are not traditional video sources (the TV reads the file directly), how does it choose at which resolution to display it?

@Michael
I don't know any DLNA player that is able to play external .sub/.srt files while playing a mkv (or avi...) : I've learned that it is due to a limitation in the DLNA protocol.
Therefore, the best way to have subtitles on the BV11 is to have them embedded into the .mkv container (which needs you to unpack and repack the container, which is quite long, but let the video stream untouched)
If your problem is about correct rendering of srt/sub, that is a problem B&O can solve!

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Just ask your dealer if you can have a look at the M.O.J.O. UHD Player that is connected to the HDMI 1.
This is what they use for demoing the 4K material.
The mojo-box is one of the new Android based gaming/media-boxes on the market.
Most of them have app's installed or you can install them - Netflix being one of those.
None of these boxes have a HDMI 2.0 out -as far as I know.
The only external device with HDMI 2.0 that comes into my mind is the Panasonic Bluray player DMP-BDT700.
Give it a break guys - 4K and HDMI 2.0 etc is right at its beginning.
Be happy that the Avant is prepared for the future (whenever it comes?).
A lot of people here talk about HDMI 2.0 as if it was the only way to get 4K...
People must remember that HDMI 1.4 can transport 4K, until 25fps. So HDMI 2.0 is only needed for more than 25fps videos.
Michael: I think it just won't play them. But a software update might of course make it possible to playback 4K material. But I want them to focus on adding support for .sub and .srt files. The subtitle feature is horribly bad on the V1/BV11 system. Being a danish company this surprises me since I suppose they also want subtitles for movies.

You might want to consider Plex as a Media Server, they have done a very clever job implementing DLNA in addition to their native media serving features. Since it transcodes media when needed, it can burn subtitles in the video track on the fly (like it does when serving media to iOS and Android devices).
Had a second demo of the avant today at bang-olufsen Chelsea and i really have to say that it's one of the best pictures I've seen after a bv7-55.
I didn't want to see the 4k footage which was being shown but something from a different source, and i saw a scene from pacific rim where there fighting in the city and all i can say is wow, wow, wow... Everything just looked so right from the colours to the richness of the blacks and motion was on another level.
I was so absorbed in the picture but also concentrated on all the little details that was brought to the fore, like shards of glass the buildings which were getting smashed to pieces it was ridiculously good, the motion clarity couldn't be faulted so smooth and natural looking.
I didn't notice any blur or judder just a crisp clean sharp picture and to me IMO the picture betters the bv11. And whilst the picture on the bv11 is of a high quality I've seen motion blur on it quite a few times when I've demoed it, and feel as though there's an evolution in picture quality on the avant. Others may disagree but from what I've seen with my own eyes is what I think.
i also feel that the sound quality is very impressive and if I was in the the market for a new tv that would be the one. They have the samsung curved oled tv in john Lewis for £7000 and the avant to me smashes it to pieces in terms of style build picture and sound.

Thanks, yes I know about this but that means transcoding = lower quality video + a lot of cpu processing = energy = costs me money and not as good picture :). I´d rather see the TV read the srt/sub-files properly. Unfortunately Plex DLNA doesnt serve sub/srt files strangely enough so perhaps B&O havent realized the need for this support. I usually use PS3 media server instead that does serve the subtitle-files. This works excellent with most TVs but not B&O. Altough B&O´s show subtitles IF the mkv-file has a subtitle track in the same file. But this is almost never the case.By the way, I do use plex on my server and it works very good! But not subtitlewise. And I want to keep transcoding to the files the TV just cant decode itself.

VERY NICE TO HEAR! Now I can keep smiling for the weekend!
In your case Michael i wouldn't stop smiling, the new avant really is a bit special and i do envy you a little bit.
We will all have to pay Michael a visit soon

Yes, astonishing that the £7000 Samsung at John Lewis already has four good reviews considering that, according to the John Lewis notes, it has to record to an external hard disk (not included) and they also recommend a sound bar to improve the sound output!

Funny you should mention Pacific Rim. Not surprising since B&O must have a company-wide list of demo videos... What got me considering a beovision was a happenstance walk into a B&O store recently, and watching a bit of Pacific Rim which was playing on a BV11-46, alongside a pair of Beolab 18s, and a Beolab 19.
I hadn't seen an image so sharp and smooth since my trusty old Avant!
My wife now regrets that morning when she asked me "Hey, lets go see what's down this block, okay?"
Millemissen: We will all have to pay Michael a visit soon MM
Haha Yes
Finally got round to seeing it while on a trip into London. Personally still think the BV11 is more of a statement and more design special. But as a rectangular TV it looks better than any of the competition, and also blows theme away on sound. The little touches like the speakers and curtain opening together make it all the more special.
Hopefully will sell well, but too big for my planned lounge.

Hi mbee,
actually you can send srt and sub files over DLNA without any issues. I have done this with my samsung tv for four years now. It works very well.
I know about the mkv embedding but it takes time and I don't like having to do so.
the B&O software should be able to check for a suitable subtitle file in the same directory (or just with the same file name but with subtitle extension in the end).
actually the DLNA client should get a real make over. I don't understand why they have a b&o cd cover right in the DLNA (home media) view. CDs aren't even used in the b&o systems anymore :).
Just been watching some of the so called 4K footage on the 7-55. For what its worth some of it is very impressive and would display well in a shop. Search for the longer videos.
