I thought I had maybe a failing cartridge as the right channel seemed weak.  I moved it to another amp and then it sounded ok for a few records.

Then after a record was done playing and it parked the tone arm it started making static sounds through the speakers as if someone was rubbing the needle.   I unplugged it and plugged it back it and its fine again.  Parks fine etc.

Seems intermittent any ideas?

If you are using a correct dual-shield cable, you could have a bad muting relay.

I think you are correct.  Someone else mentioned bad muting relay.  Well its 1/2 bad.  It normally works fine,  but must be on its last leg or something.

Yes proper hook ups.  Just started doing it today.
