a few weeks ago my beosound 5 didn't work anymore…
cold boot, power of/on nothing helped. I heard the HDD sound, so I suppose, power supply and HD should be ok. I supposed a windows or system update as cause, but I should be proofed wrong…

Last week I got the news from the B&O shop: their contractor supposes, the mainboard should be replaced: 800 EUR. And another 500 EUR to clone the Harddisk. 1300 EUR ????

This is a PC! Bombaster is a PC. Nothing else. No Raid-HD, plain PC. ????
Do I really have to pay 1300 EUR for the replacement of the mainboard and a new installed system on the HDD?

I'm shocked & frustrated. There is no magic in PC repair: a regular mainboard is 50+ EUR and installing a new operating system is 2h work for a newbie. (I'm building my PC's from parts for 20 years. This makes it hard to understand)

My Question:
Where can I get the mainboard?

Who can tell me the type of the mainboard or where I can get one and who can tell me how to install the operating system (if this windows system needs to be re-installed, once the mainboard has been changed)

Is your problem the same as this one?

It's some time ago, but it does look as if B&O did accept that they had a batch of faulty motherboards.

I bought the BS5 in 2009 and the replaced the system a few months after I bought it.

Now, 5 years later, It is down again.

So, who can help?

Do I have to pay 800 EUR for an average processor mainboard which was designed prior to 2009?

Pls, no!

I had an early BM5 2009 with mb replacement in 2009 and 2010. The mb failed again in 2014 and was paid as policy per request of the dealer. I only paid labor. The motherboard is an achilles heel and B&O know it. In your shoes, I would request my dealer to seek a policy solution by the manufacturer.

You can get a Motherboard at eBay and replace it. I also bought 3 motherboards at ebay an repaired the beosound 5.

Without the proper (service)tools you can't programm the serialnumber into the Bios.. Without serial there will be no updates.

The motherboard on my BM5 went I was told it was out of warranty, and it would be £400 to replace. Still waiting to see if it could have a future within a NL network without a BS5 before I get it fixed!

you can force the firmwareupdate in the system menu. so that is no problem.

When searching for "Mainboard" and "Beomaster 5", I didn't find any offers.

What is the trick?

And, do I have to do anything with the HDD or the system on the HDD, after the Mainboard is changed?

Without matching numbers from hdd and Bios it wasn't possible. Prograaming the serial into the Bios isn't possible (not with the standard Bios programmer from Epia.

Do you have the Original BIOS startup screen? Using a genuine Epia board, the B&O isn't showed.

Has anyone worked out how to replace the motherboard and get the beomaster working again?

Is it essential to get the serial number onto the motherboard or are just updates not supported as mentioned above?
