On older versions of the Beolab 20, before the new illuminated B and O logo was added to the speaker, does the green indicator light stay on constantly as on Beolab 9s, or does it turn off after a period of time?

Thanks!

Thanks. Went to a dealer and listened to a pair of 20s. They did not sound very good and had very little bass. I never saw any green light up. Dealer went in to settings on Avant and quickly selected something that said Beolab 20. I am wondering if the 20s were even on and perhaps all we were hearing was the speakers on the Avant.

My 9s sound much much better than the 20s in this demo. Have listened to 20s before briefly and was very impressed.

Wow that's weird, I've heard both the lab 9s and the 20s and i can assure you the 20s are amazing. Before i brought my 17s i demoed the 20s and the clarity depth and bass weight really impressed.

I really think the dealer had something set up wrong. However, I emailed them and inquired about the possibility that things were not set up correctly, possibly the 20s  were not even on. They have not emailed me back so I am guessing they were connected properly and on but for some reason did not sound good. (or dealer does not want to admit their mistake LOL)

I want to make sure I am understanding correctly....the green light should come on every time the speakers are turned on?

I am trying to decide whether I want to make another three hour drive, each way to listen to the 20s again. I really think the speakers were not on, something was wrong in the settings and all I was hearing was the Avant. Speakers are part of a wall display with all of the other speakers.

I asked dealer about the green light, as I never saw it come on, even briefly. Dealer is now telling me that the green light only comes on when doing the initial wisa pairing and after that, the green light never comes on again.

With a wired connection, the green led comes on for a few second every time your turn on the speakers, then it dims after a few seconds.

I am not sure with a wireless connection, but I believe it is just the same.

So.... the dealer arranged you with a demo where the speakers sounded like crap, and are uninterested in finding out why that would be?

Are they possibly trying to sell you something else instead? Hmm

The user guide on the B and O web page, which references the new version with the lighted logo, says it comes on every time. It makes no distinction between a wired and wireless connection.

And, no, they are not trying to sell me anything else.

When it dims, is it still illuminated but dim, or is it totally dark/off?

If it's the one without the glowing bang-olufsen logo then it starts with the green light then dims to off.

It was the older version, without the illuminated logo, or at least that is what salesman told me.

Slightly off-topic, but here is a pretty detailed - and very positive! - review of Beolab 20. Be advised that it is in Danish though!

Looks like a great review to read, if only I read Danish.

@Ratzlaw

A lot of my fellow-danes rely on Google Translate, if they want to read reviews in english.

Just you try that out!

....even if the 'trans-englished' text may be a bit hard to follow.

I think a lot of people rely on Google Translate.  I was really impressed with the review and will definitely visit a dealer to listen to the Beolab 20s.  I have been concerned about Bang & Olufsen continuing to stay in business but I think I will throw caution to the wind.  I think I may still have the Beovirus.

I wonder if the illuminated logo is the only change to the speaker since the introduction or if other "enhancements" have been made as well?

Read the review through Google translate. Makes me even more convinced that the 20s were not on when I listened last week at the dealer, especially as the dealer claims the green light (old version) never goes on.
