Oh for goodness sake Paul.

Ditto.

spending thousands on our TVs is an indulgence. Some people need 4/4s and they may well be quite well educated. I stopped buying Audis when they brought out the Q7 and the salesman warned me things were changing as I collected my third new A3 S-line....

I bought a 4x4 because i took 5 months off work and travelled around Australia.  Most people dont take theirs off road and i did.  That's why i bought that.  if i had a little car it wouldn't have made it or be able to tread water  or some of the rough terrain i had to endure. Now after 2 years I will probably sell it because its big for the city, but for all the country driving i do and the hauling of stuff between the city and the country - they make sense. And it has averaged 7.4L / 100 over the 45,000 km i have done and only 1 set of tyres.  It actually makes sense.

Good point. However to continue the divergence ..... We have a 14 year old slightly unreliable V70 and its ostensible replacement an XC60:

-- we actually prefer the V70

-- we would have preferred a modern V70 except they are not imported as everyone else wants SUVs

-- so the SXs were the only choice we had Sad

As all the available facts of the new BV fit in two or three posts and we are going to have a dozen new "new Beovision" threads before the actual launch anyway, I believe a little offtopicness can be tolerated...

Why does everybody equate 4x4 with a SUV? That doesn't hold either way. Anybody who has survived a few snowy winters in the city over here and spent half an hour every morning getting the car out of the parking space and into traffic, would be quite happy to have four wheel drive even if he hated SUVs.

I need to move large items every now and then and an estate / station wagon fits that nicely without being vulgar Big Smile I just skipped two decades of automotive history and replaced my trusty old '88 Volvo 740 STW with a Passat Variant which has almost as much cargo space. What's more, it's flexifuel and can run on ethanol, which is mostly made locally from garbage, so I can pretend to be ecological. Unfortunately, only FWD Indifferent

You raise a good point, certainly there are AWD cars that aren't SUVs. And which have definite advantages in winter conditions or such.

GM made a prototype like that years ago, it was much sleeker, called the Lean Machine. Both of them look like a blast to drive.

Talked to my local dealer yesterday, and I'll try to make a summary of what he told me. I haven't read all posts in this thread, with the SUVs and whatnot, so I don't really know how much of this is new information, if anything. I learned quite a bit more than I knew, at least:

Two new TVs on their way, not one: Beovision 14 and Beovision Horizon.

Beovision 14:

Looks in every way like the Beovision 11, but with new technology. 4K and HDR. Sizes like BV11. 40", 46" and 55".

Beovision Horizon:

Brand new design. Looks like "no TV I have seen before". Harder, more masculine/aggressive design, with more pronounced edges and angles. Matte black aluminium frame. Static (no moving parts) sound bar at the bottom, integrated in the design, with a grey aluminium grille. No glass in front of the panel. 4K and HDR. 40" and 48". The most exciting about this TV is the price, which by B&O standards will be low. Around 3200 and 4000 euro, respectively. Two floor stands: one has wheels. The other resembles the floor stand of the Avant, at least in function, but will be black and look more like a set of circular rails rather than a solid disc.

Both of these will hit shelves in the autumn, but they will be revealed long before that. For larger size TVs, the Avant will still be the way to go. Personally I think an entry level Beovision is great news, as the BV11 has been too expensive for me. For the first time I am seriously considering swapping my aging LG with a Beovision. :-)

He had some news on upcoming sound products as well, but I'll keep that information out of this thread.

Great news indeed! Both BVs sound exciting, albeit aimed at different audiences/uses Big Smile

I for one will look into the new Horizon, since - as much as I like BV11's design - it's still out of my price range...

I heard it will be very similar to the 55" Avant. The real choose will be down to design preference. They'll both be running Android when the Avant MKII comes out and have optional NETFLIX buttons on the BT/IR BeoremoteOne remote.

Just got back from Beo.

I asked the seller about the new TVs and got the reply: -How much do you know?Wink

But after a lot of "winksWink" and "I can't talk about it, but..."

Both the new BV that replaces BV11 and the cheaper BV Horizon will come in August. The New Avant is also coming. All with Andriod and Netflix 4k stream.

The new Beoremote will have "some new buttons" he said with a wink.

The new BV Horizon will not have wood but the new BV11 replacement maybe will have wood. "WinkWink".

For those who already have the Avant. You have to buy the new TV to get the new stuff. No software update.

There will also come a bluetooth in-ear headphones in june/july. But that is for another forum. Big Smile

This the latest what I know. Can't wait to August.Big Smile

Oh man if the wood matches the new smoked oak coming for the BL18s then maybe I get another BV11 type design for downstairs and don't bother with the Avant!!

So in a few mounths we should have a BV14 and Avant 2 with the same platform.

If the BV14 audio is improved over the BV11, it will match the Avant I believe.

The only difference could be aestheticaly then.

Tough choice for me who want a 55". I love the BV10/11 design (owned both) but it's good to change also.

For the insiders at Struer factory 5, any chance a Beovision will come out of that place ?

Heard the price for the V1 replacement (Horizon) will be 30.000 Swedish crowns for the smaller (40") and the bigger (think it was 48") was 40.000 SEK. Both UHD.

My dealer said the same thing. So it is not that expensive for Beo. But would be intressesting to know about the stands/ wall brackets options.

Like that Beoplay V1 has a wide options in brackets and stands. Both from Beo and from STBbrackets.

From what I have heard it is true. Avant owners have to buy the new TV to get the new content, such as the inbuilt Netflix and Andriod system,
And "How will they get 4K content" the Avant has HDMI port 1 that supports 4K content. So you must buy a 4K-player or streaming device.

I hope this answer your question. If not, please let me know.
