For the Avant to do HDR it would need a new screen! So Avant Mk 2 would have to have a upgraded screen. Maybe a screen that could do 700 to 1000nits peek for HDR.

Most normal tv's are 200 to 400 nits. HDR will make a differance. Static is ok but active HDR boom!

Remember HDR is much like 4K - publishers need to start filming in HDR to support it within their broadcasts. I can't imagine the likes of the BBC and others doing that any time soon (even after doing various tests). Sky haven't even moved to 4K yet!

Netflix appear to embrace HDR (more than 4K): Article

Hi Moxxey. Both Sky and the BBC are old dogs aimed at the mainstream. Leave them in the 1990s. It's the new boys that are ahead in the 4K & HDR world - Vimeo, Amazon, Netflix. Anyone who likes cars (not me sadly) will enjoy Netflix Top Gear as that is being filmed in 4K & using HDR technology.

@ Moxxey Sky have just signed up with Sony to bring a 4k movie channel to sky,so content is in the works for later this year.

Things are moving forward with content from providers. Also things like the BBC and ch4 ect over the airwaves is coming but not for a year or two as sorting out standards!

That's what my dealer suggested at least new chassis but if the uhd br has HDR does the avant need it as well?

But the HDR isn't for the 55 avant I thinkSad

HDR involves the content, as well as the actual screen. So it's not enough with the bluray player being able to play movies with HDR. The panel need to be able to show the High Dynamic Range content.

Let's just say B & O would be very stupid if it did not do HDR ect on a Mk 2 Avant and other tv's that they will offer as all manufactures will have the HDR spec and Hevc as standard in the UHD specs for tv's

This year.

But who would then, in his right mind, pay 8.000+ EUR price for a 55" yesteryear panel? That would be one difficult product to sell, I think.

There are many - even B&O costumers - who don't care much about 4K, HDR etc.

That's no excuse for retailing something that has basic specs missing. Specs that can be had for peanuts even in supermarkets now.

I don't buy that. It's lazyNo - thumbs down

I was just responding to the question: 'who ....would buy?'.

I am confident, that B&O this time will use latest tech for the new tv's - they'd better do that!

By the way with a 55" tv 4K isn't that important, but HDR definitely is.

P.S. I don't know of any 'supermarket tv's to be had for peanuts' with HDR support.

These premium tv's are still pretty expensive (maybe apart from the Vizio's in the US).

I perfectly agree with you. The "problem" is that it will be more and more difficult to find a non uhd 55" panel in the near future...

All I heard was that the new Avant will have enhanced smart features. With the amount of information and sites out there, I'd bet customers know and want more than some think.

Just talked to my Beo dealer and he told me that the new BeoVision is not going to be a BeoPlay tv. But, it will be in the same price range. The name is something like, BeoVision Horisont or Horisontal.

A 40" is around 30,000 Swedish (Kr) and the 48" is around 40,000 (kr).

It will look very similar in design as the V1 with a smaller speaker group under the screen. But no wood...

Can't wait! Big Smile

Conversely, to many non B&O customers these are important if B&O wants to grow their business and attract new customers.

My dealer couldn't say to much about the design but like the V1, the screen has no protective glass front nor has the big speaker front as the BV11.

And it will not come with any motorized stands or brackets.

So a more basic TV with a nice price tag.Smile

A 48" will fit very well into our home ;-)

Still it will be interesting to see, which tech/features are included.

Any mentioning of when it will arrive?

that would be pretty silly. Why no "BV 11" naked edition (no protection glass, no aluminium), where people can buy the motorized stand or frets afterwards. I am waiting for the new tv, but without the option of a motorized stand i think i buy a premium model with the same size of another company, e.g. Samsung 9000 serie

Brigantines, this is just the entry level TV. Maybe the new BV11 4K due soon would suit your requirement better.

I have no problem with "entry level". But i don't understand some decisions. The software for a motorised stand is already in use, and the socket to control it costs more or less nothing. The possibility to use stands, b&o has in production is an advantage. That is for (even new) customers a big thing, they won't find it anywhere else with that quality and design. It is an unique feature.

I understand, that an aluminium frame is horrible expensive, i understand that a special glass in front of the screen is expensive, the 360 degrees light sensor is pure luxury. But sockets should be out of any question even when the software is, as mentioned above, already succesful in use.

That's what i meant with "BV11 naked edition"

Not everybody needs leather in a new e.g. BMW, but even in the 1series you have iDrive. The knob is made with a cheaper material than in the 6serie, but it works the same way.

To me, this sounds like a PLAY TV that's why there is no motorised stand. PLAY is plug and play. If it was a BANG&OLUFSEN TV then there would be stand options.

Anyway, don't worry as everything is simply rumours right now. But I do remember Roger saying that the new V1 replacement will feature aluminium in its frame. Im sure that it is a new design. V1 style is 2012, B&O has moved on A LOT since those days.

Huh, that's still quite a lot for a "basic" TV - but let's see first what it offers. Certainly, 48" is too small for my living room (and for UHD) so I'll pass.

A true Plug and Play TV would be Beoplay but the V1 was still B&O in that it was dealer installed as opposed to being in a box with your groceries. What TV do you have now Paul ?

Beo Century ,Beoplay V1, Beocenter 6, Ex-Beolit 12, Beotime , A8. Beolit 15 , Form 2i , Beolab 2000, Beoplay A3.Beosound 1

Currently, I have a Panasonic Simon which in terms of picture has been outstanding, although it doesn't have the sound quality of the BV6 I had 10 years ago. Sadly, I have a 10 minute attention span for TV. It's just not my kind of thing. The only time the I watch TV is during my evening dinner after the gym :) and it's usually surfing documentaries or surfing films :)

I heard as well as a BV14 (android powered BV11 basically in 4K) in 40" and 55" there will be a cheaper Beovision Horizon in 40" and 48" (I think from memory) using aluminium a lot in the design with a really small bezel and a stunning turn-able (not sure if motorised) stand. Plus the Avant MkII android powered. All with Bluetooth in them too for the new BeoremoteOne and guess connection to headphones.

BeoVision Eclipse 55”, Beolab 18s, Beolab 19s, Beosound 1, Beoplay P2, H3, BeoRemote One IR, BeoRemote One BT, Beoplay S8, Beosound Essence MkII, BeoTime

That would depend on, what you get for that money?

4K supposedly, but will it have HDR etc capacity, will it decode HEVC and have latest HDMI-version etc etc???

They can't make a 'budget-tv' with these features (and the audio engine, good speaker unit etc).

I see it as an entry level B&O model - not as a 'cheap' tv.
