I am considering to buy a turntable. I understand the logic why we cannot expect a new one from B&O and I am hesitant to buy a decade-old used one as I want to keep things hassel-free.

So, please don't treat this as a sign of not being loyalty to our well beloved brand, but wanted to poll some ideas of brands / models of turntables. I am planning to include the turntable into a NL setup by connecting it to a line-in of an EssenceMK2.

All thoughts appreciated!

My local dealer in Sheffield is selling Pro-Ject turntables. Saw/listened to the one in the picture below and was impressed. They look good too. As you might expect the cost ranges from a few hundred to many thousands of pounds. But some of the Pro-Ject designs are pretty fantastic and suit a B&O environment.

Another good choice is the Made in the UK Rega turntable. They can supply the entire setup including not only the turntable but also the tonearm, cartridge, and phono preamp.  I have been very satisfied.

thanks. so, I'm hearing pro-ject and rega. any other brands and/or specific recommendations on a specific model? can I just connect them to the line-in of an essence or do I need some form of pre-amp in between?
