Hi,

as my recently bought BS5-BM5 is now upgraded with a 1TB HDD, I will have to fill it with music.

My digital music files are stored on a QNAP TS-419P+.

Will I have to copy my files to the internal HDD? If yes , where do I have to store them and how has the directory structure to be?

Do have to re-ripp my CD-collection with the attached ripper?

May I directly play the files from the QNAP?

Thank's for your help.

You can simply copy your files to the BM drive.

Depending on the OS/version are you using on your computer there are different ways to do so - basicly you must map the BM drive/music to your computer.

Or you could point the BS5 to the DLNA server on the QNAP - assuming that there is one running there with access to the files.

That would be the easiest solution.

Is your BM5 hardwired to the network - I suppose, that the QNAP is.

File structure: Artist, Album, Track. Be sure that you have the coverpic as folder.jpg (500x500)  the Album folder and/or embedded in the files.

Reripping would be a big job depending on the amount of the cd's.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Unfortunately I can't find twonky in the Qnap APP Center.

Are there advantages using Twonky vs built in DLNA?

I have Windows Vista

Or you could point the BS5 to the DLNA server on the QNAP ...

That's what I tried now. I had to first find my way into service mode.

Mode / Settings ><>

There I found the possibillity point to my nas.

Yes both are hardwired.

File structure: Artist, Album, Track. Be sure that you have the coverpic as folder.jpg (500x500) the Album folder and/or embedded in the files.

My files are also taged this way.

But they do not appear the right way.

e.g. all my files have therse tags:

AlbumArtist

AlbumArtistSort.

This way Albumartist Chris Isaac will have AlbumArtsitSort Isaac Chris and will be listed under (I) not under (C) . This works well in iOS but not in BM5.

Is it possible to tell BM5 to use these Sorting Tags?
