Its a completely custom Beo4, the only way to get the extra features would be to buy a normal beo4 chassis and a normal beo4 keypad, take the unit apart and replace the old chassis and keypad. Cost around £100.

I suggest you sell it and buy a full-blown Beo4 instead.
The hotel version may be of interest to a collector and it would be a shame to alter it.
With a little luck, it might even bring more than a good working "normal" Beo4 costs on Ebay.

Is "acquired" a euphemism?

In which case the MX4200's "may" have the B2B module fiited. This allows the sets to work with the hotels system. You may need to disable the B2B module for the set to work once you have sourced a standard Beo4.

great did that and I can now operate with standard beo4,however I have managed to add a aux to hotel beo4 using standby/list(mute) button and can use it with my aux connection with my beosystem hifi, however I wish there was a way to turn on my mx4200 with hotel remote it turns it on to tv, which is just a fuzzy picture as going via sat box ,however the hotel remote does not have vtape option when searching through add etc ! I want to turn it on with vtape mode as I have a sat box connected, the standard beo4 does it fine and get satellite picture straight away  but I really want to get hotel beo4 to do more I am sure it can as has config, add, option etc but I just dont know how !

Set up the first TV channel as if it has a Decoder attached to the SCART - the tuning menu should allow you to do this.  Then this SCART input will be selected when you switch the TV on using the hotel remote.  I do this with one of my Beovisions.

I don't have an MX4200 but have worked the following out from the manual, available on site if you upgrade your membership!

In the CONNECTIONS menu, select DECODER for the scart socket that your Sat Box is connected to.  Don't forget to press GO to store.

Then you need to go to the tuning menu, via TV SETUP then TUNING.  I think you need to go to the EXTRA menu and then simply select DECODER for the station being tuned.  Agaiun, don't forget to store the setting.

This should then switch to the 'decoder' scart socket when you select this station via TV.

Hey Guy

Thank you so much for posting that thread.

I am the culprit for selling all the Hotel B&O MX4200's all 700 so far and most of my buyers plugged in their item and it worked first time, but there were the occasional times when I lost a sale because I couldn't get it to store the SAT box, Freeview etc. One of my buyers found your thread after getting home and experienced this problem. He was such a nice guy (excuse the pun) and sent me your thread. I've now tried it myself and it works just fine, so much so I hope you don't mind but I now give all my new customers your link.

Many Thanks Again
