Would someone please tell me how to troubleshoot a tonearm on a 3400 that doesn't lift either when STOP is pressed or even when it reaches the end of an LP? It does return, but it doesn't lift. I've looked inside, but I can't quite figure out how the lift mechanism works. Thanks.
Clean and lubricate, specially around the tonearm shaft and mechanism

Thanks Soren Mexico. I've never worked on one of these tables before, so I'm a little unsure of what all that would entail. Would it need to be disassembled, and if yes, could you tell me where to begin--at least with the inside components? Or is this something simple that could be done by working through the bottom of the cabinet using some cotton-tipped swabs and applying a little oil? I took the bottom cover off, and I"m not altogether clear what makes the arm lift.
If you cant follow simple mechanics functions you should not take anything apart, but clean of all old grease and hardened oil and lubricate where you cleaned. If I remember right you do have a BM 1900, if that one works correctly open it and see if there are differences or broken parts in the 3400.
Here is what you are in for if you want to do it properly, this is not a 3400 but an older 1202, its just an example.
