Hello you lot

I have my Avant currently on its floor stand and am going to buy a SkyQ Wall mount behind the TV on the wall, I will also Wall mount the PS4.

The below shows you where the socket it and I am thinking of moving it up.

Would you put in three double sockets or a single double socket and a wall mount extension lead ?

Going to plug in two lab9’s, SkyQ, PS4 and the Avant all behind the TV.

Would you move the double higher up or put in three double higher up on the ring main.

I will also remove the Ariel socket and put in a single back box with a brushed face plate for sky cables to come in.

Thoughts?

Why dont you mount them on the rear of the TV instead of the wall? Then just run the cable as you have now ?

Just a thought

Because whether or not he mounts the gadgets on the back of the TV, moving the existing cable connection higher on the wall means it will be suspended in mid-air, completely hidden behind the Avant, both when parked and when rotated out. (This is the huge stupidity of the Avant stand: visible cable tail dragging left and right across the base circle. B&O could have made the cables hidden and un-kinked, but that would have meant a larger diameter stalk (with a hollow core) and a taller base cylinder section (with a 160-degree cable track bender).) Is there anything like an Arlington Products "TVBox" TVBU505 approved for code in the UK? It would have the Mains and low voltage divider and the cables could penetrate from multiple directions with either a scoop or a brush poke-thru (or even a Leviton Decora insert, here in the US). Then you could hide the whole mess with the Sky box, mounted on a keyhole stand-off, i.e. twisted so its front panel is pointed up and the top of the box is acting as the visible surface (shield of the recessed box and ugliness behind it).

I would purchase two brackets from IndigoLime. You are able to mount a 4 gang power strip easily to one of the brackets bring Power close to the source. The brackets mount parallel to one another so they cosmetically look nice and the clamps slide up nice and tight on to the source. Can you not run the speaker cable in D line trunking and stick it to the top of the skirting, it will look less obvious than the cable sock.

just my 5o cents: i was annoyed by the vibrations the AppleTV and the harddisk produced sometimes when they were mounted to the Avant. even when the Avant was off the harddisk caused noises and vibration.

Hello

You are right it would be Cleaner mounted on the TV and I looked at the bracket on STB backets website but they are very expensive.

It would have less chance of seeing the STB if I used the proper ones from them.

Maybe the socket could stay where it is if I bolt a extension lead to the back of the TB bracket

Perhaps I will keep a close eye on eBay

You could buy just the PS4/Xbox cradle and those and potentially wall mount them instead of on the “clamper”

Good luck, but i also agree that i was in a similar situation as well trying to hide the inevitable

Hi Seanie,

Your post has prompted me to post some pictures of my Avant setup (i've been meaning to do this for a while).

I'm not sure how applicable it is to your question, but I have developed a way to better integrate the cables of Avant. I didn't want to hijack your thread so I have started a new one here -

http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/29394.aspx

It may provide some ideas...

Regards,

Dion.

Few weeks of searching

STB c3 bracket found on eBay half price

PS4 bracket and a3 arm located cheap at a dealer.

Had to order another arm and decoder box from STB brackets today.

Aluminium pole for the back like Dion has been ordered from eBay.

Nearly there and it will be amazing in a few days with no cables on display.

Going to more than likely get another beolab receiver 1 than try and bury a PL cable in the right to a rear speaker.

Going to drill a hole in the pole to run the power cable from the socket up to the extension lead on the back of the PS4, the pole will also have the SkyQ cables inside it too.

I have my ps4 mounted i a “bracket” like this :

https://www.floatinggrip.com/vaegbeslag-til-playstation-og-xbox/

It’s more or less just two strings and one screw, meaning that it takes up the space of the ps4 and nothing more.

It fits just nicely in the space behind my wallmounted Eclipse, leaving my setup completely cablefree Smile

Looks amazing

Few more days and my setup will be cable free apart from the power and Pl to my lab9’s which I can live with.

Exciting

A wallmounted tv gives you no option to ‘hide’ the gear behind the tv!

When it is not possible or wanted to use the space behind the wall, you will need some kind of furniture.

At least when you have a lot of gear and - like me - prefer cabled solutions.

Also, I wanted to have easy access to my bluray player.

So I kept the bench, that I had used for my previous BV8-40.

In my case I also had no option for drilling holes, hiding cables for the speakers etc.

So - I had to do my best....

....which is a hard job, when it starts like this:

There is a tv - and there is a BV

OK, I’ll have to correct myself.

Hiding something behind a wallmounted tv is possible........when you have a paperthin OLED tv ;-))

Wow that is where I started I think. I might run a cat6/7 cable outside around the bay and back into a wall mount back box for the lab 6000 meaning no attempting to put PL under the carpet.

I feel for you MM

I am in the same boat

And SWMBO has decreed no new BV without a new floor or carpet, and not without accompanying new wall furniture ...

That makes it a long project !

Hello all

So Avant is nearly cable free just waiting for the final stb brackets for the SkyQ box damn snow.

So I have a beolab 6000 pair as rears one is using a receiver 1 which works but clicks on and off multiple times when the TV is turned on, I hear there is some issues when using it when SkyQ is in use.

I have just bought a new wireless ap to use which will add more 5ghz wireless to my house and it’s always SkyQ which ends up worse off.

So all in all I am thinking about running a cable on the outside of the wall that carries rear left and right signal and back in the other side of the bay window. This seems a better way than trying really small trunking above the skirting.

So I can run a Powerlink cable out round and back in again if I can do it properly and just terminate it with exactly enough length.

Or I could terminate it into a Powerlink Wall socket that could be smart too.

You can see the current PL cable trailing across the floor

Or I could buy a cable that I can take the end off one end RJ45 and other Powerlink, remove one end to get the cable round and then solder or crimp the end back on.

How difficult will this be? I have a Rj45 crimp for cat5e but have never crimped cat6/7

Another option could be to add a WISA receiver to your rears. That way you’ll just need a cable from the power outlet, and won’t have to run cables from the tv to the speakers.

Ta-Da

Thanks Dion for the inspiration.

Just need to get some of the rubber B&O power and PL speaker sleeping next time I am near a dealer.

What an amazing Tv and setup.

Bought a £5 pole from eBay and polished it up.

Few brackets from the STB brackets people and it looks amazing.

Looks nice Sean.

I nearly tried that setup. The power board attached to the back. Or the other way around.

To stop the fraying of your cable sock you can use a lighter on the ends. But looks like it should hold.
